Chapter 169: Disturbing Rescue

“I’m Sam. Nice to meet you,” he introduced himself before showing me a smile.

His sun-kissed tan skin complimented his light brown eyes and hair and I found myself smiling easily in his presence.

“I’m Diana,” I introduced myself simply because I believed that he already knew who I was supposed to be.

“Shall we get started?” he asked with clear excitement.

“Sure...” I replied as I unwrapped the thin shawl that I had around my waist to reveal the bright red bikini that I had on.

While in the middle of my lesson, I realized that Zain had suddenly disappeared somewhere. It must have been while I was under water with Sam because I didn’t realize when he left. It did not bother me and I decided to devote my attention to Sam and all that he was teaching and showing me. He was a good and patient teacher and he made sure to strike a good balance between teaching me the basics in words and getting me to try things out for myself.

The staff was right in the deep end of the pool being very deep and suitable for some beginner training. Sam went under water with me to watch me from a distance as I explored holding my breath under water for the longest time that I could manage. Trying not to panic as I ran out of breath started to feel entertaining. I signaled to Sam that I was doing fine before I started to lower myself deeper into the water.

Suddenly, there was a rapid movement in the water as if something had entered the water close behind me. Stunned at this unexpected development, I tried to turn around. Just at the same time, I felt something wrapping around my waist. My body stiffened and I immediately began struggling to free myself. I turned my neck around and I was hit by another shock when I saw Bradon hugging me from behind.

Bradon? Why is he here?

There were many things that I wanted to ask him but I couldn’t talk to him under water. While feeling confused and unsure of what was happening, he began pulling me upward toward the surface of the water. My head soon emerged above water, and I gasped to take in a huge breath of air to refill my lungs.

“Are you ok?” he asked as his voice shook with what seemed to be panic.

Bradon turned me around in his arms so that he could clearly see my face. I still felt very confused as to what he was actually doing. His eyes stared intensely at my face as his hand cupped my cheek and then began stroking my wet hair. Confused and stunned, all I managed to do was nod my head once to let him know that I was fine. I mean, why wouldn’t I be?

“Diana...” Sam called my name and I could tell that he was also confused about what was happening.

With Bradon’s sudden appearance I had all but forgotten that Sam was still there with us in the pool. Bradon turned to glare at Sam and he immediately looked away from us. I didn’t understand what was going on but I let Bradon pull me toward the edge of the pool.

“Umm...” I murmured as he got out and pulled me out of the pool with him.

I could tell that he was angry and agitated but I wasn’t sure what the reason was. After all, wasn’t I the one who was supposed to feel upset because he had suddenly interrupted my lesson and dragged me out of the pool. Not to mention the fact that his behavior was bordering on being rude towards Sam. I sat on the side of the pool as I stared at Bradon who was crouched down next to me. It was the strange look of concern in his eyes that made me hold my tongue.

What is wrong with him now?

“You can’t swim! Why are you even in the water?” he yelled at me as he grabbed my shoulders.

“What is wrong with you? Don’t yell at me!” I screamed back.

I knew that we were causing an unnecessary scene but I no longer cared. Bradon was acting so unreasonable and I was positive that I haven’t done anything wrong. I glared at him as I waited for him to release me.

Wait...I can’t swim?

What the hell is he going on about now?

“Come with me,” he said as he yanked on my wrist for me to stand up.

“Stop! What are you doing? Let go!” I demanded.

Instead of listening to me, Bradon suddenly bent down and lifted me up into his arms. I rolled my eyes as my anger started boiling over. When would he realize that what he was doing was completely uncalled for and also embarrassing?

I could feel the heat of his body from his chest pressing against me along with the wetness of his clothes. I had no idea what provoked him to jump right into the deep end of the pool while he was still fully clothed and it did occur to me that he might have lost his mind. Bradon hadn’t explained to me anything about his sudden disappearance and the way he announced his return wasn’t at all pleasing.

“Can you put me down now? As you can see, I’m fine and good,” I said as I slapped my hand against the hard muscle of his chest.

Bradon stopped walking when he heard me speak up. He looked down at me with an expression that I couldn’t quite read. We stared at each other for a few seconds in silence before I was the one who let out a loud sigh. It was high time that he explained himself and his outrageous behavior.

“I told you to stay indoors and out of trouble,” he said coldly.

“What has gotten into you? You can’t just disappear and then come back just to pull me out of the pool,” I spat without hiding my anger.
