Chapter 180: Her

"Your End Project Assignments are due to be submitted in three more days from now,"

Instructor Abella’s words resounded through the hall.

"And I have been asked to make an important announcement in relation to that by Newcomer Vice, Vice Rohan."

"In four days from now, the day after you all submit your End Project Assignments, you will embark on your first Outerschool Mission."

She said, and they all froze where they sat.

"What it will be, and where it will be... those are informations that will be revealed on that day."

"Also, I don’t have to tell you that if you fail to submit your End Projects, then you won’t be allowed to go for the Mission... right?"

She asked, just as the bell rang loudly, signifying the end of the class.

White packed his books into his bag and rose up, leaving for the exit.

He had yet to fully work out the project.

He should be done by tomorrow, but only if he began studying right now.

Good thing nothing came to stop that today.

He went straight for the library, picking out the books he always used and resumed studying there.

A presence came in after a while, but White was too busy to raise his head.

Eventually, he was forced to, when whoever it was remained in his sensory view for about two hours straight.

He turned up to find someone unfamiliar there.

It was a she, with a two-star violet badge, confirming her as a 2nd year.

She had two differing eye colours.

The right one was purple, sprinkled with tiny dark dots, while the other was a lime green of sort, the same colour as her hair.

A porcelain, almost doll-like face, she was quite the beauty. There were no doubts to that, and she didn’t say much, simply looking at the textbooks on White’s table in silence.

"Do you need one of them? You can have them. I don’t need them right now."

He probed.

"No."

She said.

"End Project Assignments are due in three days, you heard that too, right? I can’t talk right now."

White said, diving back in, and she did disappear out of his sensory range... for a moment.

She came back, drawing a chair and taking a seat at his table, this time holding onto a textbook.

White turned back, noticing it immediately.

"The answers you’re looking for are not in any of these textbooks."

She said, passing him that one.

"Try this..."

She said, and White rolled his eyes before diving back to his study.

"And how would you know what I’m looking for..."

He mumbled, grabbing a pen to jot down some notes, but it froze when a finger appeared before it, stopping it in place.

"Just give it a try. It’ll take an hour. If I’m wrong, then you can continue your study without any more interruption."

She said.

The conviction in those purple eyes told him that if he didn’t do it, she would just keep hanging at the corner of his vision.

White’s legs tapped on the ground rapidly for five seconds before he finally picked up the textbook and opened it up, beginning his read.

He moved through the pages fast, but as he got to the middle part, the page swiping started to slow down, almost as if they had gotten heavier somehow.

White’s hands quietly picked up the pen, jotting down conclusions after conclusions, and this continued, until—

BEEP!

His runic watch made a beep sound, informing him he had finished his reading schedule, which was 12 hours.

"Huuuuu."

White exhaled, turning his head up, only to yank back in shock as he found a pair of eyes staring right at him.

"You..."

He called in shock.

It was the lady. She was still sitting there.

"Wait... you’re still here... it’s been 12 hours."

He said in disbelief.

He had completely forgotten about her existence entirely.

"I’m fine. Did you find what you’re looking for?"

She asked, and White turned back to his conclusions.

He had spent like three days now trying to answer the question. He had thought if he studied the textbooks, he’d get inspiration somewhere to answer it, but it had been three days of reading nonstop for 12 hours, and he had not.

And right now... he just got his inspiration.

"I did. Thank you."

He said, watching her rise from the seat and reach for the exit, but then a question occurred to White’s mind and he asked directly.

"How did you know what I was looking for?"

He asked, and her steps paused before her hand rose up, pointing upwards.

White couldn’t help but follow, but all there was was the glassy second floor of the storey.

"I’ve been watching your study since you started."

She said, and then resumed walking calmly.

White didn’t get it at first, but then he remembered that while the library did get quiet, he noticed any time he looked up, there was always that figure sitting on the seat high above.

’So she’s the one.’

He thought quietly, but then—

BEEP!

His device beeped and he turned to it, finding a notification.

"Morgaine needs a little help pooling together her End Project Assignment into the required format. Decided to help her out tonight."

"You should focus more on your study... It’s three days left."

It read, and White exhaled, putting the phone down slowly.

He could feel right now that he was close to an epiphany, so he continued reading the textbook.

BEEP!

The next beep that awakened him was one that said class would be starting in an hour.

And he raised his head up to find streaks of sunlight through the purple clouds outside.

He had been awake all night reading, his entire notes filled with writings, but White was beaming at the end of it.

"I got my answer..."

With the answer gotten, he could put it in the appropriate format later and then send it to Nova.

Still, he’s got class in an hour.

He returned the textbooks then picked up his bags, leaving the library.
