Chapter 829: 829: Sneaking Midnight Snacks

On the same night, Shan Du finally heard everything that happened to the little prince, Lei Liye and his little guard, Huan Li, after dinner. He didn’t expect that during their little prince adventure that he would bump into his missing cousin. Prince Yue Zhiya from the Everlasting Moon Empire, who was said to have been taken away by the Death Valley. However, when he asked who saved the little prince of the Moon Clan, his own little prince just called the savior, Aunt Xue but he didn’t know much about the person.

Because of this, Shan Du decided to meet this savior and checked on Prince Yue Zhiya tomorrow when he accompanied his own highness to the courtyard next door. Just as he was about to inform his little highness about this, he saw him and his little guard sneaking into the kitchen where the thing called refrigerator was located and pulled two lunchboxes from within. It looks similar to the ones that held the dinner they ate during dinner. However, he is sure that these aren’t included among the ones that were shared to them.

It seems that his highness had hidden these two lunchboxes and most likely had different types of food inside seeing that they had pulled it out of the refrigerator.

Lei Liye whispered in a very low voice, "A’Li, be careful. Don’t make a sound. If we get caught we have to share it with everyone and that means less for us to eat."

"Leave it to me, your highness! I’ve already used a talisman to erase the sound of our footsteps. Shall we eat it here or in your room?" Whispered Huan Li back to his little master.

Lei Liye said, "Eating it in the room is not a bad idea. But what will we do if we need the refrigerator afterwards. Since Aunt Xue said to not forget to place it, the fridge means it’s a dessert that can melt. I think it’s better to eat it here. Place it on the table."

"Alright, your highness!" Huan Li said as he did as he was told and gently placed the lunchboxes on the table.

The two of them finally opened the box and saw two dozens of mini square cups in it. Inside each square cup are ice cream cakes of different flavors. There are all kinds of mini ice cream cakes making the two children drool at sight. Actually, even Shan Du who is watching at the corner can barely handle it and started gulping from the scent and the lingering spiritual qi this food is emitting.

’The dessert is also a spirit food. Is the one next door a Spirit Food Chef Master,’ this is the thoughts of Shan Du upon seeing the square cups of ice cream cakes. He actually wanted to have a little taste.

Gulps~

Huan Li said, "Master, which one should we eat first? Everything looks delicious."

Gulps~

"Let’s just try randomly," said Lei Liye as he was about to reach out and pick one square box only to see a bigger hand reaching out before them.

The one who did it was Shan Du who failed to hold back and took one of the matcha flavored ice cream cakes within the lunchbox.

He said, "Your highness, let this servant do the poison tasting for you!"

"Senior Shan Du!?" The two children exclaimed.

The two children were stunned thinking that they were caught only to be dumbfounded that their senior had taken one of the cakes that was gifted to them by their Aunt Xue. They can only watch as this adult ate one cake biting the small matcha ice cream cakes with only two bites. The cakes were made bite size for the adults but it’s perfect for the children who love to taste every single flavor.

"Hm~ not bad. Give me one more!" Shan Du said as he took another cake which is mango flavored this time.

Seeing this, the two children no longer held back and started eating like their lives were meant for it. They ate without chewing, much afraid that this bad adult would steal more of their midnight snacks. In the end, the other children had awakened by the noise they made and the ice cream cakes were shared among them. Seeing this, Lei Liye who was only able to eat three pieces within the two dozen started crying and everyone almost didn’t know what to do to make their little highness stop crying.

In the end, Shan Du can only thicken his face and knock next door. He was holding the little highness in his arms with Huan Li who was hugging his little master trying to stop them from crying. It seems Yue Xuexia had already expected this and opened the gates personally. She never had the hobby of wearing masks at home and except for hiding the features of the Moon Clan on her, her face was still the same. That’s why Lei Liye and Yue Zhiya say that he looks similar to their grandma as that was her own mother.

The moment Shan Du met the Moon Goddess he felt like kneeling before her. His family the Shan Clan existed to serve the family of Ancestor Lei Yuhuang. So his bloodline’s existence, they can sense it as long as they are near them. Yue Xuexia is the blood daughter of the eldest prince of the Ancestor Yuhuang’s lineage, her bloodline is the purest line of the Regal Lei Clan.

Shan Du stood there dumbfounded looking at Yue Xuexia as if he had lost a soul.

Lei Liye didn’t care about him and stretched out his hands towards the Moon Goddess, "Aunt Xue, they all ate my snacks~. Boohoo~, Li’er was only able to eat three."

Yue Xuexia sensing their bloodline closeness, treated Lei Liye the same as Yue Zhiya and took the two children from the male cultivator in front of her and coaxed them.

She spoke to them gently and said, "Don’t cry. There is more inside." The moment she turned around Shan Du immediately fell on his knee instinctively. He was about to greet her when suddenly Yue Xuexia said, "Give your greeting tomorrow morning. It’s time to sleep."

"Yes, your highness!" Shan Du said as he helped the Moon Goddess close the gates after seeing her carry his little highness and his little guard to the mansion.

He had only stood up when the Moon Goddess was no longer within his sight and the gates were closed. He was extremely nervous. Actually for the collateral families, the purer the bloodline their masters possessed the clearer they can sense their strength.

"Why do I feel like seeing her highness is similar to meeting Ancestor Yuhuang?" Mumbles Shan Du.

As soon as the sun rose the next day, Shan Du left the courtyard only after making sure that the other children from the clan had entered their morning training. He made sure he wore the most presentable clothing he had in hand and even made arrangements for him to look as formal as he could. After all, the one he is meeting today is most likely the eldest princess from their lineage. Even though he is only a servant in front of his master, he must be as presentable as possible.

Who would have thought that the moment he comes out of the courtyard they are staying, he would bump into two familiar faces. One of them is the town master and the other one is the Pei Clan’s master. Both were seniors in their generation, especially Shan Xu.

Pei Ju was the first one to speak up upon seeing Shan Du. "Look who we have here. Kid, where are you going to wear such formal clothing?"

On the other hand, Shan Xu, who was standing beside his jolly friend, narrowed his eyes in understanding. He himself was wearing something formal albeit low keyed compared to what Shan Du is wearing.

"The princess doesn’t like her identity to be exposed. Even in front of the two little highnesses. Shan Du, changed into something lowkey," Shan Xu had given this young man advice which Shan Du had appreciated.

Shan Du gave his thanks to his senior and changed his clothes. Once he returned to the courtyard to change, Pei Ju asked his friend why he is suddenly being kind towards this rude brat who looked down on them before.

Pei Ju asked, "Is there a need for you to help the brat?" 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

"Helping him is not my desire. Before the princess everything she desires must be shown. That’s all," said Shan Xu.

It was only then did Pei Ju remembered that the young man’s surname is also Shan. This means his friend and this young man came from the same family and it also means they served the same masters.

Pei Ju murmurs, "It’s no wonder, he suddenly look like he had picked up his manners."

Only when Shan Du had returned that the three of them knocked on the door. Maybe because Yue Xuexia are expecting guests that the formation at the gates were weakened a lot and is no longer as stern as before where only those who were invited can come over.
