Diamond chuckled as she gave Penny a slight glance before looking away as she started to speak.

"Growing up, I was raised by a pair of loving parents. We didn’t have much to speak of, but they treated me like I was a princess. I never got to do any chore, never saw how they farmed in a farm despite living in the village for some years.

When there was meat, my parents would rather save it for me so that I can eat while they fed on vegetables and other staples. In order to let me wear new clothes, they would wear their old clothes for years.

I can say that, I was born privileged, and that kind of love still remain with me until this very day," however, she didn’t directly answer what Penny asked, but started with a little history narration. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Penny was intrigued by the story. She couldn’t help but listen attentively, picturing what that could have been like. After all, this white-haired lady didn’t seem to be the kind of person who grew up in such an impoverished family.

"When my baby sister arrived, about nine years later. I thought that my position in my family would dwindle but no, it only increased. Despite having someone beneath me, the treatment increased and it even came to the extent that my baby sis had to accept that kind of harsh reality," speaking about this, she couldn’t help but sigh dejectedly, thinking to herself how fortunate she is to have met such a considerate little sister.

If Ruby had other thoughts, who knows if they would be as close as they are today?

Thinking about how Ruby had to give in to an elder and useless sister the majority of her life, it was one of the reasons why she was spoiling her now. She was compensating and hopefully, Ruby will forget about all the misery she experienced during those days.

Diamond had no idea that if it weren’t for her being filial and repeatedly sending money during the years she wasn’t coming, Ruby wouldn’t have accepted her as a sister that quickly. Of course, there was the matter of Diamond having money, but it was also the heart and thoughts that matters.

"Growing up in such a family, I wasn’t satisfied. I was spoiled so much that I started aiming for higher. I just wanted to latch myself on a rich man, become his woman and secure a life long ticket to prosperity. But, haha," recalling the past, she couldn’t help but chuckle mockingly as she turned her head to look at Penny.

She was now at the point where she wanted to answer that question Penny asked her earlier.

"I learnt the hard way that a woman, in fact, a useless woman without anything in her name or something to do can suffer deadly when the backer no longer wants her," she coldly and indifferently responded, not bothering to feel slight pity for the discomfort she saw in Penny’s eyes flashing that moment she said that.

"The moment that backer stepped away, and found someone, much closer to me, I nearly strangled myself to death. I wished so bad to just die and leave this world, but the thought of my parents who loves me so much, the thought of that foolish little sister, whose future at that time seemed brighter than mine. I couldn’t do it. So, I fled and hide for years, living a day after a day, and dragging my life as much as I could.

But then, fate happened. My luck changed. I finally got my hands on money, and for the first time, except when I was with my parents receiving unconditional love. I felt alive," her somberness suddenly turned into cheerfulness as she looked at Penny, letting out a happy chuckle in the process.

"Seeing the balance in my account, it gave me peace and a soundless sleep. Knowing that all those millions are mine and not anyone else. Knowing that even if someone stops playing with me, or even if I get dumped or something, I will always remain rich and live beautifully. I felt this immense power I never felt before.

I still remember when I started my social media journey. I wanted to fill in the gaps of having shied away from the public. I wanted to receive the people’s attention and their love. So, I thought of doing something like that," she smiled beautifully as she narrated about that matter.

Penny, listening, was all frozen as what Diamond was speaking sounded foreign to her. She had never felt that kind of emotion before. She could tell that whatever she feels being Mrs. Russ, wasn’t the same feeling that Diamond was speaking here. Not only a feeling but she could see it.

Diamond carries herself with this strong confidence that commands everyone and everything around her. Just looking at her, she was reminded of some ladies she has seen during some events and was unable to have a complete conversation with them. After all, she was just a wife, one who knows nothing and has been reduced to her own daughter’s nanny. How can she speak about business and other topics with such ladies?

And yet, with Diamond, she could sense that kind of power. The one that makes her wary, when she thinks about her good husband. Unfortunately, she was just starting to feel unsettled, for Diamond, who hasn’t had such conversations in months was just getting started.

She loves talking and empowering others, especially using herself as an example. It makes more sense that way.

"I remember posting something like if they make my followers reach a certain amount, I will gift them with airtime vouchers or was it cash vouchers? Anyway, I am not sure. But I remember that in less than three days, I have already surpassed that number. The attention I received was so enormous and from that day, I realized how having power is different.

I finally experienced what it was like being a woman of power. I could do anything I want, and since I have the power, the money, the resources and have what they want, I can actually live my life however I want," she chuckled slightly as she spoke with confidence, no longer that cowardly version of herself.
