Chapter 1077: Chapter 1073: VERSAILLES – DIAMOND SHOWING OFF 2

"What happened? What happened?" Penny anxiously asked, the story getting to her head, making her excited like a little girl once again.

She grew up reading fairy tales, after all.

"Haha, we continued to talk to each other for months. And you know, when time passes and you are still on good terms, feelings start to change and develop. Despite being far away, he was very attentive. He would make sure to text me frequently or call despite the time difference and the like. When compared to my ex, he was actually better.

His mother was nice, and already met my family. I thought to myself that since his mother is that good, then the son shouldn’t be bad as well; I mean the character."

"And the face?" Penny asked excitedly.

Diamond’s lips curled upwards as Gael’s face appeared in her mind.

"He is handsome. The nerd kind," she responded smilingly, throwing a playful wink at Penny.

Penny was confused with this response but didn’t remain that way for long. Since she couldn’t picture it now, she could wait patiently until he arrives. She would judge in person.

"I am someone who doesn’t like to procrastinate if I like something. So, I told myself that when he comes to the country, I will have him confess or just confess to him. Either way, we now have feelings for each other despite not saying it openly. So why not just date and see where this goes.

So, when he finally came to the country, I was thinking on how to do it, but then he just confessed when we were on the road. He brought a ring, slipped it on my finger," she smilingly said, dangling the finger with the two rings intertwined together.

Upon seeing that, Penny’s eyes brightened up as she finally understood that these rings weren’t just fashion rings but meaningful ones. But why were there two instead of one?

As if sensing that, Diamond added, "we just renewed our rings. But I couldn’t throw away the old one. So, I am wearing both."

It was only then that Penny understood what was happening, and after digesting that reality, she couldn’t help but give Diamond a thumb up.

"That’s really something out of a novel scene."

"Yes, it was kind of sweet. Never thought that my next relationship will turn out into a long distance one," she amusedly spoke, thinking about how she upgraded from cities, to continents in a matter of months.

"Haha, it must be tough, right?"

"Sometimes, but I am a busy person and so is he. Besides, we always chat daily. So, our relationship doesn’t get strained like others."

"That must be nice."

"Hehe, when it comes to relationships, you just need to understand that the first rule is to communicate. No matter what happens in it, you must always communicate. Only when you understand each other can the relationship last," Diamond couldn’t help but give an advice, based from experience.

Penny became thoughtful when Diamond was saying that. After a while, she couldn’t help but ask, "is it really helpful? I mean, won’t you be afraid of causing issues if you were to disagree with each other after talking?"

"Haha, what’s there to fear? We talk so that we can understand each other. If there are disagreements, instead of fighting, we must work together to find means to solve that. That way we will be on the same page. If we can’t work things together on our own, then find other people to help us. But if that doesn’t work again, then, ummm ... I think that it would be high time we start to actually open our eyes and see if being in such a relationship is really worth it," Diamond earnestly responded, sharing her own thoughts without imposing on anyone.

After all, after learning it the hard way, she was someone who no longer bottles her worries but share them. If Gael or anyone else around her can’t accept it, then, um, they can just pack their bags and go.

She wasn’t going to wrong herself for anyone.

Penny was shocked by Diamond’s remarks. She was different from her. In fact, it could be said that Penny was shaped by the family she came from. Not just the family but society itself.

Women, were born to be married one day. That was a fate that none of them could escape from. Their families nurture them, provided resources so that they could be where they are. In return, they repay the favor by getting married mostly to men that the families either approve of or men that can help the family.

In such cases, in order to maintain that relationship between families, since the marriages are mostly business-related with only a few love-matches, the women were always advised sternly to know their places.

Whatever their husbands ask of them, they should deliver and not cause any trouble. Because the moment they do, they can be kicked out of the house and lose everything. The loss wasn’t just on the woman but it would affect the family as a whole.

No family would want to see that happening.

So, at times when their minds start thinking too much, they are reminded of what they are supporting and all words get stuck at their throats.

This is how most of the women in their circle are living. Her mother was living like this. You have to develop tolerance, because the second you lose it, that’s the day that the marriage will crumble and give a chance to someone out there eyeing the same time to take over from you.

That’s all how she was surviving, though she was luckier than others. At least, she doesn’t have to worry about her husband having mistresses out there. He was simply too busy to care.

If she were to act like Diamond, then that thin string holding this marriage can snap and when it does, where will she go?

As much as she would love to communicate more with Russ, fear was instilled in her and she couldn’t afford to risk it.

She would rather choose to live this way than venture into the unknown.

However, simply because that’s how she feels, doesn’t mean that she wasn’t curious about why Diamond had such confidence and why she would act as such.

With that curiosity gnawing on her, she looked at the other and asked, "are you never worried that by asking for too much, you might lose it all? What makes you confident?"
