The ground shook beneath them, a violent tremor that sent cracks spiderwebbing through the earth. Kazuichi’s feet slid as the massive Omega Zombie barreled toward them, its bulk moving with terrifying speed and force. Each step thundered like an earthquake, the sheer size of the creature making it impossible to comprehend how something so large could move so fast. They weren’t prepared for this. No one could be.

Ayaka darted forward, fists blazing as she aimed a flurry of rapid punches at the Omega’s legs, trying to slow it down. But the blows barely registered, bouncing off its hardened flesh like pebbles against a mountain. The fire burning across the creature’s body flared hotter, forcing her to back away, her hands blistered from the heat.

"Damn it!" she hissed through gritted teeth, retreating as flames licked at her boots.

To the side, Jurou and Lea stood their ground, their massive Bulwark bodies braced for impact. They charged headlong into the Omega Zombie, their combined strength enough to dent even steel. But the creature didn’t stop. It barely staggered as the two hybrids slammed into it, like a bull shrugging off the matador’s spear. Jurou grunted, the muscles in his legs trembling as he tried to push back, but the Omega Zombie was relentless.

"We can’t hold it!" Lea growled, her voice strained as she dug her feet into the ground. "It’s too damn strong!"

Kazuichi’s mind raced, the world narrowing to the chaos around him. The horde that accompanied the Omega was already wreaking havoc, tearing through what little defense they had left. Fires roared around them, casting everything in an orange glow that made it feel like the world itself was burning. And still, the Omega came closer, its massive arms swinging like wrecking balls.

"No... we can’t lose here," Kazuichi whispered, feeling the desperation clawing at his chest. His water and lightning had barely slowed the thing down earlier. His powers were strong, but this? This was something else entirely. And if the Gigantic Omega Zombie showed up next? It would be over.

He clenched his fists, feeling the water swirl at his fingertips once more. He had to think, had to act. If they couldn’t stop this thing, the stronghold would fall. Everyone would die.

Leaping to the side, he dodged another sweeping strike from the Omega, its fist crashing into the ground where he had stood just moments before. Dirt and debris exploded into the air, and the impact sent a shockwave through his body. His heart pounded in his chest, every instinct telling him to run, but there was nowhere to go. Nowhere to hide.

A surge of power shot through him, and without thinking, Kazuichi summoned another storm of water and lightning, sending it hurtling toward the Omega Zombie with everything he had. The water crackled with electricity, swirling in violent arcs as it collided with the creature’s chest. Steam hissed into the air as the water met the flames, momentarily dousing the fire.

But it wasn’t enough.

The Omega roared, its massive arm sweeping through the storm, scattering Kazuichi’s attack like it was nothing. Flames erupted from its body again, stronger than before, and Kazuichi’s heart sank as he watched the fire grow even hotter.

"What the hell do we do now?" Arisu shouted, eyes wide with panic as she dodged another flaming boulder the creature hurled in their direction.

Kazuichi grit his teeth, mind racing for a solution, but every idea seemed futile. The sheer size and power of this thing—it was unlike anything they had faced before. But worse than that, it was evolving. Regenerating. And now it had elemental control over fire.

Jurou and Lea were struggling to keep the Omega Zombie at bay, their movements slower with each passing second, exhaustion written across their faces. Ayaka and Arisu darted in and out, delivering strikes where they could, but it wasn’t enough to stop the juggernaut. They were being pushed back, inch by inch, as the Omega Zombie continued its relentless advance.

Kazuichi’s frustration boiled over. "If we don’t stop it here, everything’s lost!" His voice cracked with desperation, the weight of their situation crushing him.

But what could they do?

His mind flicked back to what Kaito had said before—about the Gigantic Omega Zombie having a horde ten times the size of this one. If this Omega was already overwhelming them, what chance would they have against something even bigger? The stronghold’s defenses wouldn’t hold. There was no question about it.

They were out of time.

Kazuichi’s eyes blazed with sudden determination. He had to break through his limits. If his water and lightning weren’t enough, if his current powers couldn’t stop this thing, then he had to push further. Do the unthinkable.

"Jurou! Lea!" he called out, voice cutting through the chaos. "Fall back! Everyone, fall back! We need to regroup!"

Jurou staggered back, breathing heavily as he exchanged a look with Lea. "You’ve got a plan?" he asked, panting as he wiped the sweat from his brow.

"Something like that," Kazuichi replied, his mind already racing through the possibilities.

The group retreated, creating distance between themselves and the Omega Zombie as it let out another bellowing roar. It continued its advance, its steps shaking the ground with every heavy stomp.

Kazuichi closed his eyes for a moment, focusing on the power coursing through him. He had pushed himself to the brink before, but this time he would have to go beyond. Water swirled around his body, crackling with lightning, the air around him thick with energy. His muscles tensed as he prepared to unleash everything he had.

But just as he was about to make his move, a familiar voice rang out, cutting through the roar of flames.

"Sorry to keep you all waiting."

Kazuichi’s eyes snapped open, just in time to see a figure stepping into view, his silhouette outlined by the flames. Ryuunosuke.

His body glowed faintly with a blue aura, the unmistakable sign of a hybrid unleashing their full potential. His eyes burned with intensity as he strode toward the Omega Zombie, his steps sure and confident despite the chaos around them.

"Ryuunosuke!" Ayaka gasped, eyes wide with shock. "Where the hell did you come from?"

Ryuunosuke smirked, his gaze locked on the Omega Zombie as he continued his slow approach. "Just in time, I’d say. Looks like you all could use a hand."

The air around Ryuunosuke crackled with energy as he activated his Hound capabilities, his muscles tightening in preparation for the battle ahead. His Detonate Blood Art surged to life, his entire body pulsing with raw power. He stopped in front of the Omega Zombie, unfazed by its towering form.

The monster let out a guttural growl, eyes flaring as it swung one massive fist toward Ryuunosuke. But before the blow could land, Ryuunosuke moved. Faster than anyone could track, his form blurred as he dashed under the Omega’s arm, leaving behind a shockwave of explosive energy in his wake.

BOOM!

The ground trembled as Ryuunosuke’s Detonate Blood Art sent a blast of energy ripping through the Omega Zombie’s side. Fire and debris flew into the air as the explosion tore into the creature, causing it to stagger for the first time since the battle had begun.

Kazuichi’s eyes widened. "He’s... pushing it back?"

Ryuunosuke grinned, his body practically vibrating with energy as he floated just above the ground, his feet barely touching the scorched earth. A massive orb of water formed above him, swirling with intensity as it gathered strength.

The swirling mass of water grew bigger and bigger, threatening the Omega Zombie as it furiously tried to struggle. However, Ryuunosuke remained completely unfazed, fully aware that Kazuichi and his party were more than enough to handle the Omega Zombie.

Well, ever since they engaged it in combat, all they could do was keep it on hold. They had no way to defeat it. But now that Ryuunosuke was here, with the type advantage of the element of water, they knew that they stood greater chance.

The Omega Zombie let out a furious roar, fire erupting from its body as it tried to recover from the blow. But Ryuunosuke didn’t give it the chance.

"Let’s see how you like this," Ryuunosuke said, his voice calm despite the chaos around him.

With a flick of his wrist, the massive orb of water shot forward, crashing into the Omega Zombie with the force of a tidal wave. Steam hissed into the air as the water extinguished the flames, enveloping the creature in a swirling liquid vortex.

The Omega roared in fury, thrashing as it tried to escape the watery prison. But Ryuunosuke was relentless, his control over the element absolute.

Kazuichi watched in awe, the exhaustion of the battle momentarily forgotten as he realized what was happening. Ryuunosuke had arrived in the nick of time, and his power was exactly what they needed to turn the tide of this fight.

For the first time in what felt like forever, hope flickered in Kazuichi’s chest.
