The second night arrived, and Ah Chen and the group had already returned to the dormitory.

Everyone was tense, after all, twelve people would encounter monsters tonight, unless, like Ah Chen, they could hold them off.

She glanced at Li Yao’s spot. The other being safe was probably due to Li Chen holding off the monster. There were still many people now, so the probability of being found by another monster was small. But as time went on, with more being eaten, sooner or later two monsters would appear in the dormitory.

It depended on everyone’s abilities.

No matter how many props one had, each could only be used once, and five nights weren’t that easy to get through.

But no matter what, she truly benefited. With Li Chen able to hold off a monster, even if more came later, she’d save a lot of resources, greatly increasing her chances of passing.

Li Yao apparently realized this too, her eyes lighting up.

"Did you spend the whole night with the monster?" Li Yao said smugly, just to disgust Ah Chen. Two nights in a row, she didn’t think Ah Chen deliberately held off the monster. She believed the other was forced to tangle with it.

"Seems like the monster likes you more," Li Yao was in a good mood, "Thanks to having someone in the dorm loved by the monster, but if it wants to find you, not others, it’s not something we can do about."

Zhan Ying was a bit speechless, "If you know you’re taking advantage, why not shut up."

"My mouth, none of your business? The monster didn’t come for me," Li Yao sneered, "What’s this about me taking advantage? The monster found her, not me. She did nothing for me, not even willing to share how she dealt with the monster. What advantage am I taking?"

After casually washing her face, Li Yao didn’t call out to others and left the dorm with her things.

"She’s really annoying," Bai Qiaoqian said. Someone who can hold off the monster, how could they be simple? Even if just holding it off, didn’t they all benefit? If it was any other dorm, let’s see how relaxed Li Yao would be.

"Wonder if we can apply to change dorms," Bai Qiaoqian said, "Li Chen, why don’t you just change dorms, but take me with you."

Ah Chen smiled, "Sure, I’ll ask the homeroom teacher later and take you all with me. But... later on, the dorm might have more than one monster. You’ll still have to be careful on your own, I can only hold off one."

Later, Ah Chen shared with the group about last night’s game of Gomoku with the monster.

"I can’t do that," Bai Qiaoqian said, "I’m not good at this."

"So you can’t use statues to compete either. Not sure if others can, we’ll find out when we go to class later," Liao Jingyun said.

In class, Ah Chen immediately noticed many people were missing.

After a while, Liu Mingming’s voice sounded, "According to my count just now, nine people disappeared last night."

There should have been twelve people encountering monsters, but three had escaped, meaning eleven would face monsters tonight.

"I used some props to win. Overall, competing with the monster saves more than just using props," a lucky survivor said, shaking his head, "Relying on one’s own abilities to beat a monster isn’t easy; they’re formidable. Oh, I played the statue game last night and bought a stillness prop."

Ah Chen glanced around the classroom, noticing that those approached by monsters last night were mostly those who hadn’t communicated with them before.

Hearing that someone used the statue game to compete, she understood. Each person could likely only use one method, just like each prop could only be used once.

She shared her thoughts, and everyone looked grave.

With three nights remaining, surviving wouldn’t be easy.

Under normal circumstances, eleven people were set to encounter monsters tonight, unless someone could hold off a monster—adding sixteen people over the other two nights, a total of twenty-seven. But if very unlucky, the survivors might still encounter monsters afterward.

The people in Ah Chen’s dorm went to the homeroom teacher to change rooms, and approval was given.

When Li Yao returned to the dorm at night, she found Ah Chen and the others moving things, her voice involuntarily rising, "What are you doing?"

Bai Qiaoqian laughed gleefully, "Moving dorms."

Li Yao’s face twisted, "You’re moving out?"

"Yes," Bai Qiaoqian gloated, "After all, you said you weren’t taking advantage of Li Chen, even implying she deserves to meet monsters, speaking so nastily. You’ve caused us mental distress, so we’re moving."
