Shattering Humanity - Chapter 161: Garmr & Our Two Realities (Reimagined)
Jay, Bethany, Stephanie(with her lime green hair up), and the most reliable of the quadruplets, Petra are walking through the dark forest. Jay and Stephanie have a bright lime green SeiõrShield around them. While Bethany and Petra are covered in a beautiful blue SeiõrShield.
Petra is riding on Bethany’s shoulders and looking around, scared but trying to be brave. A close bird rattles the leaves while flying away and it makes the little girl flinch.
Bethany giggles while holding on tighter to secure her passenger.
Bethany: "Don’t worry, PaePae, we haven’t been bothered once while walking through this weird forest. I’m sure that monster everyone talks about doesn’t want anything to do with us."
Petra is unable to hide her fear now and her lime green eyes start darting in every direction, checking every tree for anything scary. Stephanie at the rear, gives a worried look up towards her little sister. Bethany realizes she’s struck more fear in the child and tries walking back her last statement.
Bethany: "Buhhh-uuhhtt, ummm I’m sure that monster doesn’t actually exist anyway, PaePae."
Stephanie: "I sure hope Tristan is fine with the girls that weren’t chosen."
[Quick cut to Tristan back at home, his yellow human eye and IceEye are tired and defeated. The two rambunctious girls of the quadruplets, Jamie and Pauline, are yelling and fighting over a hand held game while Timothea is behind him, rocking back and forth against the wall with empty food boxes, wrappers, and half eaten food all around her.
Jamie: "Wait! Just have faith, Pauline!"
Pauline: "No, I can do it myself Jamie, gimmie!"
Tristan: "Please, girls, for the love of God. I have a mission in less than 5 hours..."]
Jay leading the group, looks worried. Stephanie looks forward, unable to see his face but knows about his uneasiness, she talks to him from the back of the group.S
Stephanie: "Is my SharedSeiõrShield technique getting better, Jay?"
Jay nods and looks back with a half smile.
Jay: "It’s perfect, Steph, thank you. Sorry, I haven’t been able to get the hang of this whole Seiõr thing. I guess what I see as confusion, is seen as scepticism by Seiõr. It is a little embarrassing, since your adorable little sister has already been accepted, but I’ll just blame it on being a man, haha."
He turns his head forward and the smile quickly fades. His eyes go back to a sad gaze at the ground in front of him.
Jay: "I just don’t understand why that DæMon woman makes Persephone wait 30 minutes after the rest of us candidates enter this forest. We only see her when she comes back to the residences after wandering through Hell by herself."
Bethany: "Yea, but I guess that cutie Persephone has the same bloodline as Laban and MamMon. She’s probably like, some type of untapped fountain of Seiõr that even a 1,000 year old Viking Witch hasn’t seen before."
Stephanie and Jay, because of his ability, remember the way Persephone was on that horrible night after Nephilim saved her in the midst of being raped.
Stephanie: "As long as she is mentally happy and healthy, I’m happy. MamMon did tell us it is more rare for men to be accepted by Seiõr, but atleast you got selected by her to qualify for her special unit, Jay. Since you’re not officially a Seer yet, I’ve only been able to practice ’SeiõrShieldSharing’ on you."
Now Stephanie gets a large frown, and looks at the grass while stepping.
Stephanie:"...I miss Tristan. This is the longest we’ve been away from each other, ever."
Petra buries her face in Bethany’s black and green hair. Her trembling voice shows how much love she too has love for Stephanie’s fiance.
Petra: "I want Big Brother Tristan, here too...I want to go home. I’m scared."
Bethany who also has a shared desire for Tristan’s presence, tries to cheer them up with a small positive.
Bethany: "Me too, sweetheart. Me too. But, if all of us here have a chance to be on MamMon’s personally led force, I guess it’s convenient for him not to be here. So he could stay back at home and ’keep the home fires burning’, I guess."
Stephanie: "General Nephilim had him on his exemption list, along with those two new boys he took in. He treats and trusts Tristan almost like he does Silpheed. Before we got here, he told me it took a bit of convincing by Mrs. MamMon to take Persephone off the list."
Everyone looks up and can see the light at the edge of the tree line.
Jay: "Welp, another day, another pointless walk in the woods. Let’s get this over with, we still need to head to where MamMon is and then another 2 mile walk across the open field. I’m tired and need a nap."
They start walking towards the open field, but behind them, Persephone’s stalker is watching the group and focuses on Jay. The creature backs off into the darkness and swiftly jumps up and through the trees.
{1 mile away from the group.} 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Persephone: "Wait, so what does that have to do with the ’most feared beast’?"
For the first time MamMon’s face gets flush and embarrassed after realizing she’s been expressing her unique bragging rights and getting off the original topic.
MamMon DæMon: "I was getting to that."
Persephone: "Oop...sorry..."
The DæMon looks into the shadows of the dark forest.
MamMon DæMon: "When fermented long enough, Mental Seiõr becomes PsychoSeiõr and that is the energy used to enter Mindscapes. Mindscapes allow those who enter them, to come face to face with idolized characters from the most beloved and believed tales. From their own mental reality, one can bring back anything or anyone to this physical reality, under specific conditions of course."
Persephone: "...’This... reality’? So mental energy is also Seiõr energy? Fascinating..."
MamMon DæMon(nods): "PsychoSeiõr is the most powerful form of Seiõr energy because it has the ability to change this physical reality entirely. You see, Queen of Hades, existence is not truly reality.
Every living being, from human to insect, has only one true existence in this universe. However, there are two realities within every existence."
Persephone tilts her head and uses the pen to scratch her head. The lecturing DæMon holds her arms out wide and looks at the sky.
MamMon DæMon: "It’s this, the physical reality, we’re all living in together. The reality our senses describe to the encased processor within each of our skulls. All of our senses, from the sights of our eyes to the feelings in our skin, the smells through our nose, the tastes in our mouths, and the distinctive sounds that help the brain form a perspective of this physical reality. It is all the information received by our personal organic processors that forms the physical reality we’ve become accustomed to.
To put it in a way you may find easier to understand, when a fiction writer like yourself creates a story, even with the vast description of a character through text, everyone who reads the tale will have there own idea of that character’s specific appearance and the exact tone of the character’s voice."
Persephone’s eyes wide to the helpful reference.
Persephone: "I never thought about that Madame MamMon. That’s true! It’s not until a story is illustrated or acted out in media, that there is a definitive look and sound to those ’fictional characters’."
She writes down this realization quickly while MamMon continues.
MamMon DæMon: "This physical reality can easily be molded by the senses from the work of multiple organic processors working towards the same goal."
The DæMon then puts a finger to her temple.
MamMon DæMon: "There is a reality that each of our individually encased processors believes in. Our mental reality.
You see, dear cousin, because the physical reality has the ability to change the mental reality, those who surround themselves with negativities, creates an entire reality where the only product is such. When in actuality, it’s their senses only delivering hate to their brain, forcing those organic processors to believe their surroundings are solely negative. Completely forgetting the positives and the others who actually do wish for their well being."
Persephone thinks for a minute.
Persephone: "Almost like when a few workers for a growing company start to picket outside their work, right? It’s bad publicity for the entire company, especially if the majority of the public can sympathize with the workers, or a group of people continuing to be disrespected or oppressed for no reason, by the irrational hate from the people around them.
When the oppressed sees one individual who resembles the surrounding irrational people, the victim tends to assume that one individual also has no rationality. When they actually have a completely different ideology, but is flipped when they are stuck in the path of the cycle of hate."
MamMon DæMon (thinking): *How coincidental...*
Persephone: "But...and pardon me for the conjecture, Madame MamMon, but the same happens visa versa with positivity, right? If one surrounds themselves with positive people and personalities..."
The DæMon’s eyebrows rise, impressed from both Persephone’s politeness and quickness to bring up the philosophical counterpoint.
MamMon DæMon(chuckles): "You imagination shows no bounds, but that’s precisely right. In every existence, the encased processor recognizes a each description of the physical reality differently. From one person to another, there are numerous different sense reactors, as well as shared similarities. Human reactions can be impulsive, especially when provided by a certain sensor. When a sensor is triggered, the organic hardware does whatever it can in it’s power to ensure safety and happiness for the encased processor."
[Back at poor Tristan trying to sleep with a pillow over his head, while the domestic chaos continued.
MamMon DæMon’s Voice: "From protecting our eardrums from the vibrations that could burst them..."]
1 mile from the one on one conversation, Jay exits the forest along with the rest of the qualifying Seiõr users. SeiõrSnow falling around them and it immediately gets "absorbed" by Petra, as if unintentionally. All the SeiõrSnow within a two foot radius gravitates towards the little Seiõr user.
They all look at Petra who is now concentrating with her eyes closed. The little girl then points to her left and they all nod. The group proceeds to walk that way.
MamMon DæMon’s Voice: "Even if the brain is in charge of the body’s actions, the brain isn’t in charge of the body’s re-actions. If you place smelling salts or any stimulant through the nose, your neck will instinctively jerk back to protect the membranes in your lungs from damage. However, in a human ’s unique existence, the ability to imagine creates the want for happiness."
Bethany, smiling, looks up at the sky, happy to have a place to call home and a family she’s never had, even before the alien invasion. She then turns her torso to smile at Stephanie, who gives a gorgeous smile back.
MamMon DæMon’s Voice: "In the worst case possible, the human imagination can start Holy Wars. Making men kill each other over which version of their God had the correct voice and appearance, such as one of your characters.
One’s imagination can incite others to believe in a ’predicted the future’. ’Predictions’ written down by a normal human man, NOT a Seer accepted by Seiõr, and preached by a man with a God complex.
A man within a country full of people, suffering through poverty from the decisions of previous government leaders after an unprecedented global war. Because humans can empathize and sympathize, through imagination, they can fear for the worst.
Fear creates the power to rally an army and target a specific group of innocent people to end the suffering and the poverty of their own family and country. No matter how irrational the actions towards the innocent are seen, most committed soldiers are a byproduct of the physical reality war creates."
Stephanie reaches in he’s small backpack, half opens a granola bar and hands it up to her little sister. Petra takes it happily and munches with a smile, making all the girls behind Jay smile.
MamMon DæMon’s Voice: "That includes using cherry-picked information or anecdotal evidence used to justify one’s irrational decisions to try and change this reality with their mental reality."
However, Jay, no matter how many cute smiles are around him, continues to look worried and depressed while leading the way.
MamMon DæMon’s Voice: "Without complete separation from the mental reality and the physical reality, entering Mindscapes is impossible. We each have a specific reality, a unique mental reality that no other mental reality can mimic entirely. It is a mental reality of a true ’heaven’, one prays for. That form of ’heaven’ can’t be reprogrammed or updated without all the senses at once, ’corrupting’ the processor and forcing a ’total reset’.
The mental reality of a suicide bomber believing his actions will liberate his people, is the same mental reality that makes a different suicide bomber commit the same acts for their own personal beliefs of the afterlife.
Or the mental reality of any religious believers who promotes pacifism, even in the eyes of their torturous killer."
Jay pick his head up, his left human eye and his IceEye, now with a look of complete determination and resolve.
Persephone is writing in her notes and then pulls a large plastic water bottle out of her clearly too small fanny pack.
It is Persephone’s first example of her Seiõr possibilities as a 2nd generation DæMon. She pops up the tab and takes a sip before easily putting the large bottle back inside her pack.
MamMon DæMon: "Infinite Mindscapes are within every individual, however, like I said, it takes a highly advanced Seiõr user to ferment Seiõr to create a ’key, so to speak. An even more knowledgeable user can activate PsychoSeiõr and find their desired Mindscape, within others as well. Admittedly, I was only capable of focusing on Seiõr fermentation while disguised as Ryan Briggs inside the old Sister Mountains."
Persephone thinks for a moment and looks at the sleeve that the mythical weapon disappeared inside.
Persephone: "So that weapon you have, if it’s as mystical as you described, it must of come from one of those Mindscapes too."
The DæMon smiles and the stolen dagger pops out from the sleeve again. Both beautiful women look at it continuing to stay it’s true dagger form.
MamMon DæMon: "There was once a Völva who was so advanced in her Seiõr control, she was able to help a Valkyrie enter multiple Mindscapes, and the skilled Valkyrie defeated the most feared Gods and beasts, claiming their weapons. This dagger is the most compatible with all of the universe’s Seiõr and helps the holder conjure SeiõrSpells and SeiõrShots mid-battle."
Before MamMon can finish, there is a growl coming from the woods and both of the women can see giant glowing yellow eyes that sink back into the darkness. The sounds of chains can be heard clanking and being dragged on the ground.
From a far, the small familiar group approaches the top of a small hill of the clean cut, uneven landscape can see the two DæMon cousins having their discussion. The girls smile and Jay focuses on Persephone. Petra wiggles off of Bethany and starts to run down the hill.
Petra: "Mizzuz MamMon! I’m hungry! Can you teleport me,please!?"
Stephanie: "Petra! Be careful, slow down!"
The whistling wind and shaking leaves, cover the distance shouts of the young girl.
MamMon DæMon: "Call it a coincidence or luck, but the creature I was able to bring back, has the intelligence to believe that you are actually the Queen of his realm and he hasn’t even bothered to give you any trouble while in the forest. Because of your relationship with the small group of Nephilim’s soldiers, as well as that adorable ’crowned sister’, he has given them a pass as well."
Persephone: "Madame MamMon, please, just tell me, which creature did you bring to this reality?"
MamMon DæMon: "One of the many hounds that guard the underworld, but THE hound, whose purpose was to protect the Queen of his realm.
My mother was known as the Valkyrie of Chains, so I figured, I would ally myself with the unchainable beast.
Garmr!"
Persephone’s eyes widen hearing the name.
Persephone: "Gar...mr?"
