Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy
Chapter 336: The Qie Xieling of this world
The pod’s alarms blared in Qie Xieling’s ears, red lights flashing in sync with the sound, creating a disorienting effect. He slammed his hand down on the controls, trying to stabilise the descent, but another explosion ensued sending the pod spiralling towards a nearby uncharted planet.
Suddenly, the spinning stopped, replaced by a feeling of weightlessness. For a moment, he honestly thought that he had died, that this was what the end felt like. But then he felt the lurch of the pod as it was caught in the planet’s gravity, and he knew he was very much alive.
"Shit!" he swore as he braced himself for the impact, his knuckles white as he clung to the safety handles. The pod was soon engulfed in flames as the speed increased.
In an instant the pod crashed into the planet with a resounding boom, the force of the impact throwing Qie Xieling around like a ragdoll. When the dust settled, he felt numb all over. It was as though he was having an out-of-body experience.
Qie Xieling’s vision went dark as blood trickled down his forehead. In the darkness memories of this character flooded his mind.
Who was Qie Xieling in this world? The Qie Xieling in this world was unlike in any other. His story was that of an orphaned street urchin turned villain who murdered indiscriminately.
His story began on the junk planet Imira. He was orphaned at a very young age when his parents fell victim to the ruthless interplanetary war. With no one to care for him, he had to survive on the unforgiving streets, where he had to scavenge for food and shelter every day.
Despite his rough circumstances, he dreamed of a better life. Determined to escape the poverty and violence that surrounded him, he joined the Coalition army as this was the only way someone in the trenches like him could come up in society and at least live a good life and not worry about food and shelter. He also believed that by signing into the army, he could bring justice to those who had wronged him.
As fate would have it, he found himself rising through the ranks, demonstrating unmatched cunning and skill. However, the higher he climbed, the more he uncovered the truth of his parents’ deaths. It was then that he discovered, to his horror, that one of the newly appointed seven generals was the very same person who had murdered his parents.
He would never forget that heartless look in that man’s eyes as he slit their throats mercilessly alongside other refugees fleeing war. The word filthy rats escaped his lips as he slit his father’s throat while he was hiding underneath the rubble of a collapsed building.
His heart burned with rage and vengeance when he saw that face that had been haunting him even in his sleep. He knew he would not know peace until he confronted the murderer and made him pay for his crimes. He devised a plan and patiently waited for the opportune moment to strike.
A grand ceremony was held, honouring the achievements of the Coalition’s finest soldiers. Qie Xieling stood among the crowd, his eyes locked on the general who had shattered his world. The moment arrived, and with lightning speed, he drew his blade. The gasps of the onlookers were drowned out by their horrified screams as he slit the general’s throat in front of everyone, a twisted smile etching across his face.
Realising the depth of his actions, he did not attempt to escape. He calmly surrendered himself, knowing he would face punishment for his crime. If it wasn’t the death penalty then he would spend the rest of his life in prison. He was ready to pay the price.
But the Coalition had the upper hand, and they intended to make an example out of him. He was arrested, imprisoned with no trial, and subjected to brutal torture that slowly ate away at his sanity.
He descended into madness with his sinister laughter in the silence of his cell block haunting. His unsettling laughter made him the most hated prisoner in the cell block. They constantly referred to him as the psycho. They tried to kill him in the yard. He was extensively injured in the fight but he beat his opponents within an inch of their lives sending them to the medical bay. Each time they released him he beat those men again and again and again thus he was isolated but the haunting laughter didn’t stop.
It was obvious how dangerous he was. The prison guards understood why it was important to keep him locked up. But one day his cell door which hadn’t opened in years suddenly opened. It wasn’t only his but other prisoners’ cells as well. Everything descended into chaos and prisoners began slaughtering each other blood splattering on the clean walls.
Those who got in his way were slaughtered ruthlessly. He seized the opportunity and escaped. It turned out there were pirates attacking the maximum security facility surrounded by an extremely dangerous asteroid field.
Qie Xieling, now an embodiment of fury and vengeance, embarked on a merciless crusade against the Coalition. He used his extensive knowledge of their tactics to strike at their weakest points, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. Each successful attack further eroded his humanity, as he became consumed by the darkness that had taken hold of him.
The Coalition trembled at the force they had unknowingly unleashed upon themselves. They mobilised their armies in a desperate attempt to capture him and put an end to his reign of terror. However, Qie Xieling remained elusive, slipping through their clutches time and again.
As he continued his reign of chaos the lines between the villain and the avenger had blurred, and he couldn’t ignore the consequences of his actions. A battle raged within him: the desire for revenge against those who had taken everything from him and a flicker of empathy that longed for the innocence he had lost. Today was the day he saw his downfall but even then they had failed to kill him but they didn’t know that. They were busy celebrating his death and publicising it to the entire coalition.
