The man smiled, suddenly raised his hand, and pulled the trigger directly.

A gunshot rang out, the emcee on stage collapsed, the bullet piercing through his forehead. The force was so great that it blew open the back of his head, splattering red blood mixed with white brain matter all over, shocking the guests sitting below.

The emcee’s body continued to twitch, but the bloody figure could no longer stand up. It was then the crowd below realized what had happened. After a brief pause, a piercing scream awakened everyone, making them realize this was no prank.

These wealthy people who normally lived in comfort, going anywhere only via luxury car, lazier than even an emperor, erupted with unprecedented physical strength in the face of such danger. Each of them scrambled to escape towards the elevator and emergency doors, simultaneously uttering sharp screams and cries of alarm, causing immediate chaos on the scene.

However, their escape was apparently futile. As they rushed to the elevators and emergency doors, they discovered, for unknown reasons, the power was out for the elevators, and the emergency doors were locked shut, trapping them inside with no way out.

And at this moment, all the lights in the venue went out suddenly, plunging the entire place into darkness. The men and women who had come for the auction, originally poised and graceful, were now either roaring in anger or wailing.

Huo Sining and Gu Xu crouched under their chairs, their gazes tightly fixed on the stage. Though the venue had lost its source of light, as their eyes adjusted to the pitch black, they gradually began to see some vague outlines.

In the darkness, Huo Sining saw another person on stage at some point, seemingly arguing with the security guard holding the gun. But because of the chaotic cries of men and women in the venue, it was impossible to hear what was being said on stage.

Then, suddenly, a crisp shattering sound came from the stage. It seemed one of the two people on stage had smashed something on the ground. Immediately, the two bent down to search through the fragments, and shortly afterward, they picked up an object from it.

All this happened in just a few seconds. Before Huo Sining could think further, the gun-wielding man on stage fired another shot into the sky. In a flash, a loud boom was heard, and the chandelier at the top of the venue shattered directly from the bullet, scattering countless fragments from above.

"Watch out!"

Gu Xu urgently pulled Huo Sining into his embrace, using the backrest of the chair in front to shield them.

But the gunshot further agitated the crowd in the venue. The people who were already panicked due to the emcee being shot and the power outage, upon hearing the gunshot again, assumed the robber was about to start a massacre, deepening their fear, and naturally prompting even louder screams.
