Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress

Arabella glanced at Alwin who was already examining the place with magic.

"Maybe they used some kind of spell since I was the only one who could see them. I was trying to thank the one who saved me from drowning when you carried me back then. Now that I recall it, I’m sure there were two people that day. The one who lured me into the water and the one who saved me," Arabella explained to her brother.

She wanted to just say this to Ferdinand but Benjamin would not leave them alone so she had no choice but to say it here. They could make an excuse about who those people were later.

"That is also possible with magic?" Benjamin also glanced at Alwin.

"Yes. As long as one has enough mana, there are a lot of things magic can do," Alwin verified.

"You should have hired magicians," Ferdinand pointed out.

[Arabella almost died but they did not use more of their resources to find out who did it. She was clearly lured to the pond.] Ferdinand narrowed his eyes.

"We did. But they did not find anything either. They said there was no trace of anyone being there. They could not find any trace of mana either," Benjamin clarified.

[Why did he look at me like that? It’s not like we did not do our best.] Benjamin knit his brows at the accusatory look from Ferdinand.

"We tried searching everywhere for a while since we considered it an assassination attempt. But we could not find any sign of who did it. We almost fired all the servants too but the magicians from the Great Temple said it was not any of the servants since they would have already found traces," Benjamin added.

"Right. I remember magicians checking me repeatedly," Arabella added so Ferdinand would not think her family did not do their best. She knew they did but there was no way they would be able to find the culprit. After all, it was ’That Entity.’

"I see," Ferdinand relented and he examined the place too, searching in case there was something that had been lurking here.

"!!!"

Ferdinand and Alwin’s gaze met as if they both felt something.

{It’s weak. But I feel the presence of an elf here. The greenery here is infused with some of her mana.}

{Yes, Your Majesty. I can feel it too.}

Alwin touched one of the trees and the spot he touched, glowed.

{I can feel it much stronger on the trees.} Alwin reported.

Ferdinand then touched one of the trees as well.

{Ah, yes. Indeed. It’s a female elf about ten millennia old or more. This makes things faster. She must have felt us already so I’ll speak with her.}

’Someone who had lived for that long had been staying here?!’ Arabella was shocked. She listened as Ferdinand spoke to whoever it was.

{Where are you? Ah, no need. I know where you are. Stay put. We will come to you later. Do not dare hide or run away. We will find you wherever you go.}

Ferdinand gave a warning to whoever it was.

"Did you find something?" Benjamin inquired, noticing that there was something weird with the way everyone was acting.

If Benjamin was not here, the three of them could have talked about it. But they could not tell Benjamin about the presence of an elf here. Thus, Ferdinand glanced at Alwin for him to reason out since he was supposed to be the magician here.

"I felt some kind of presence but I’m not sure if it’s related to something that happened from so long ago. We need more information. Can you please tell us all the locations you remember where Her Imperial Majesty was once attacked when she was a child?" Alwin inquired.

[It had been several years since then so the traces were likely gone but it’s better to check in case that entity left something that could lure monsters to come here.]

Arabella was alarmed when she heard Alwin’s thoughts. She had asked Benjamin in Medeus and he said there had not been a single monster attack or sighting in Lobelius after Arabella went to Valeria. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

If that entity had left something here that attracted monsters, her family and their people would be in danger.

Due to the sudden monster attacks on Arabella in the past, the Lobelian knights had trained enough to be able to vanquish monsters but if the monsters were as strong as the ones that appeared in Medeus, Arabella was worried there would be a lot of casualties.

"I see... Yes, of course. I remember all the areas where Arabella was once attacked," Benjamin quickly agreed.

[All the other magicians said they did not feel anything when they came to this spot. But they felt something after just a few minutes here. Only the Pope had reacted like there was something but he also said that he could not detect the presence of the attackers here. That’s how good the Master of the Magic Tower is?]

Benjamin eyed Alwin with awe. Since he wanted more information about this too, Benjamin was willing to cooperate to finally understand what truly happened here back then and why Arabella kept getting targeted by monsters.

"Would you be alright going to all those places? Maybe you should catch up with our younger siblings," Benjamin said to Arabella. He was worried that seeing those locations again would terrify her.

Ferdinand and Alwin glanced at her too.

"I’ll be fine. I already saw such strong monsters in Medeus. I won’t be terrified now," Arabella assured them.

[Right. She was terrified in Medeus but she did not panic.] Benjamin relented.

"Are you sure?" Ferdinand cupped her cheek.

"Yes," Arabella smiled. She had so many more regrets than getting attacked by monsters. What would scare her more than what she experienced in her past life?

Seeing that she was determined, Ferdinand said, "Alright, then. Let’s visit those places one by one."

They needed to verify if the ones who attacked Arabella were the same as the ones who lured her to the pond. However, Alwin and Arabella already knew there was a difference.

Alwin only used the excuse to further investigate and get evidence if possible, to what he already knew. Once there was evidence, they could tell Ferdinand about it.
