Chapter 609: Chapter 609: I Want To Be Your Magician

Alwin tried to dissuade Dimo.

After all, he did not agree to teach Dimo so he could become Arabella’s mage again.

However, that was no longer up to him but up to Dimo once he had grown up and could properly decide for himself.

"Does Master not believe I can do it?" Dimo’s smiling lips turned into a pout.

This was also one of the reasons why Arabella did not try to dissuade him. No matter how she said it, Dimo might interpret it as her, not wanting or not believing that he could be one of her magicians someday.

Alwin tried to stop him and now the smiling child was pouting instead.

Noticing the child’s expression and his depressed question, Alwin said, "It’s not like that. I just wanted to say it’s dangerous. What if you got hurt? You could end up injured badly or even worse."

Dimo fell silent at Alwin’s words and stared at him.

[Is Master worried about me?

But Her Majesty always had knights guarding her.

Is it really still that dangerous?

Master’s hair and face are always so pretty though.

He always looks so divine.

I never saw him injured.

He never looked like he had difficulty doing anything either.]

Dimo had such thoughts since he had not yet seen Alwin when he was so exhausted.

Likewise, Alwin had the tendency to make himself look powerful, cold, and unbendable when he was in front of other people. He did not fancy showing weakness or letting people think he was unable to do something. Especially since he was so desperate to prove himself to Ferdinand and his other elders.

Moreover, Alwin was rather affectionate and kind despite how cold he usually looked. He simply was not vocal.

The more Arabella thought about it, the more she realized that Alwin was like Ferdinand indeed. They did not share a single drop of blood, but their behaviors were alike.

Deep inside, they were both generous and humane too.

After all, if Alwin truly only cared about Ferdinand, he would not have allowed Arabella to take Dimo with them that day since he was still filled with resentment and suspicion towards Arabella. He would have simply had Dimo returned to Olivier regardless of the circumstances.

Alwin was not honest with it, but he also felt bad for the child. Seeing that the rampaging child was the victim of something horrible, he also did not like seeing a child suffer such grievances at such an age.

Moreover, Alwin was also quite taken with the Dimo due to his rich mana. Living Dimo to his own devices meant he could have wasted a talent. And for someone like Alwin, that could have been a lifetime regret.

Alwin did not even make a single complaint or snide remark when she asked him to ask the maids to bring more tea and sweets here. He just went in an instant because it was for Dimo’s sake.

Just looking at how gentle Alwin was with Dimo and how he reacted when the latter acted sad, it was evident that he cared for the child.

Dimo looked up to him so much too.

’He must have only shown his good sides to his little disciple,’ Arabella smiled at the thought.

{What are you smirking about?!} Alwin glanced at her.

The difference when he was speaking with her compared to other people was so evident.

He had gotten so comfortable with her that he did not even bother to hide his secret ’personality.’

{Nothing evil, of course.} Arabella smiled even more to annoy him.

She had gotten used to speaking with him however she pleased too since he was always speaking rudely to her. Thus, speaks rudely to him too.

Alwin looked like he wanted to say something more, but Dimo was looking at him as if he was a mesmerizing magic spell he had yet to learn about.

Thus, Alwin had to look cool to the child so he did not do anything that would jeopardize it.

The adoration of kids was the most honest and innocent after all.

"But Master, you always look so beautiful and elegant like being the Empress’ magician is not hard," Dimo said after silently staring at him for several seconds.

Since he was not used to getting praised, Alwin was taken aback by the praise even from such a little child.

Dimo had grown taller after living in the Magic Tower since his mana flowed properly and he ate proper meals. But Alwin was still much taller. Thus, Dimo looked small when compared to his master.

"It’s easy for me because I studied and studied for so many years. I read a lot more books than you can ever imagine. I also conducted even more experiments than you can count."

Alwin explained in a way Dimo could understand since he could not reveal that he was an elf who could live for eons.

He still wanted to stop Dimo from becoming Arabella’s magician because he still had some doubts that Arabella may have put him up to it.

"I have read a lot of books too and will read more. Oh, and I’ll study for so many years and do lots of experiments too," Dimo countered.

[You’ll get nowhere near my level even after a hundred years.]

Alwin thought but didn’t dare say it. He simply stared back at the determined eyes that were looking at him defiantly.

Dimo looked at Alwin as if he was stopping the latter from reaching his goals in life.

{Hey! Don’t be so rude to a child oozing potential. Even if he won’t be able to reach your level since you have an awfully long life, he could still be the best-ever magician among humans.}

Arabella reminded Alwin that among humans, Dimo was a rare treasure too just like Alwin was in Estrella and for the long-lived races.

{Ugh. Fine. Fine.}

Alwin almost rolled his eyes but did not dare since Dimo was looking at him with such innocent and admiring eyes.
