Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 51: I’m an Old Driver, Going to Xingyun Media Again
At 10:00 AM, Wu Yun drove Bai Yue to her apartment building. This was his first time in the neighborhood. It was in the northern part of the city, and according to Bai Yue, her apartment was in a low-rise building constructed after 2008, so its selling price wasn’t exactly cheap.
Low-rise buildings like this had very little shared public space, so the actual living area was essentially the same as what was listed on the property deed.
Her family’s apartment was 120 square meters, and they had negotiated a price of just over 4,000 yuan per square meter. In the end, Bai Yue would walk away with 480,000 yuan. That’s right—it was all going to her. Her parents considered the money a gift, and the property deed was in her name alone.
The black Big Black Bull was parked on the side of the road. The earlier roar of its engine had drawn the attention of many passersby.
Wu Yun opened his door and got out first. He then walked around to the passenger side to open the scissor door for Bai Yue, positioning himself to block the onlookers’ stares and prevent any wardrobe malfunctions. ’As if I’d let you all get a peek when I haven’t even had one myself.’
Wu Yun took her soft hand and smoothly pulled her to her feet.
Bai Yue led Wu Yun straight to the real estate agency on the ground floor of the complex.
The agents had noticed the couple arrive long before. Seeing Bai Yue lead Wu Yun over, they scrambled to be the first to greet them. "Hey, handsome! Pretty lady! Here to see some properties?"
"I’m looking for Li Hui," Bai Yue said, peering inside. "I’m here to sign the contract." She couldn’t see her anywhere.
"Please, come with me. You can have a seat while you wait," a man who looked to be in his thirties said. "Li Hui is in the back preparing the documents." He was probably the branch manager.
A short while later, the buyers arrived—a young couple. Since the agent had already negotiated the price, there wasn’t much for them to discuss. However, the husband kept stealing glances at Bai Yue’s face and figure, a detail only Wu Yun picked up on.
Wu Yun was all too familiar with the contract-signing process, so he stood by Bai Yue’s side and helped her review the terms. On top of that, his Business Management was a comprehensive Skill, meaning he had a decent grasp of the relevant legal knowledge.
He gave Bai Yue a nod, and she, trusting him completely, signed her name on the seller’s line.
Since the buyers were using a mortgage, Bai Yue only received an initial payment of 150,000 yuan. The remaining 330,000 wouldn’t be paid until the bank approved their loan.
Bai Yue would only handle the official ownership transfer after receiving the full amount, which meant she would have to fly back from the Capital City again before long.
Watching Wu Yun and Bai Yue get into the Lamborghini, the husband said with an envious look, "It must be nice to be rich!"
"You’ll get there too! I believe in you," the woman on his arm said, her eyes filled with affection. Having both names on the property deed is the ultimate sign of trust in a marriage these days.
After lunch and a short rest, Wu Yun drove Bai Yue to the airport.
The Big Black Bull shot forward like a bolt of lightning, weaving through the gaps between cars on the highway.
"Slow down! We have plenty of time! If I miss it, I can just rebook!" Bai Yue wasn’t complaining that Wu Yun had overslept after lunch; she just clutched the door’s armrest in fear.
"Relax! I’m a pro driver!" After saying this, Wu Yun floored the gas pedal, and the Big Black Bull’s speed shot up once more.
Bai Yue glanced at the speedometer—it read 200. Her toes were curling so hard she felt they’d break the straps of her sandals.
Wu Yun laughed as he slowed down to avoid a speed camera. "I never thought the all-powerful Bai Yue could be such a scaredy-cat."
"I’m not a scaredy-cat! I just value my life! I’m still young! I don’t want to die!" Bai Yue retorted, her voice trembling.
"Okay, okay! I’ll slow down!" Wu Yun brought the car’s speed down to around the speed limit, and Bai Yue’s heart finally returned from her throat.
He dropped her off at the same spot as last time. Only after Wu Yun promised to heed her repeated warnings to drive slowly did Bai Yue reluctantly wave goodbye and head for her gate.
Wu Yun watched until she disappeared from sight before heading back to the parking garage.
Sitting in his car, Wu Yun sent a message to his group chat with Wu Ying and Jiang Xinyi: "Ladies, what’s for dinner tonight?"
He waited a bit, but there was no reply. ’They must be busy,’ he thought. Just a couple of days ago, Wu Ying had told him that the company was on the right track. It was already generating revenue, and while it wasn’t breaking even yet, it showed great potential.
After all, Xingyun Media had only been around for a little over half a month, so turning any profit at all was impressive.
But Wu Yun’s focus wasn’t really on Xingyun Media. He had so many other projects laying golden eggs that he simply didn’t have the headspace to manage this one. Even if it became a top-tier company in the livestreaming e-commerce space, its valuation would, at best, peak at that of a unicorn.
’Wouldn’t it be better to create a cradle that births unicorns instead?’
「Rongcheng Palm Springs International Center.」
The automatic glass doors of Xingyun Media slid open, and Wu Yun walked in.
"President Wu, welcome!" Peng Yujun quickly stood up to greet him. The two receptionists beside her, looking a bit dumbfounded, scrambled to their feet and echoed the greeting.
Wu Yun nodded at Peng Yujun. "Where’s President Wu and the others? They haven’t replied to my message."
"President Wu is in a review meeting with the department heads," Peng Yujun explained. "Today is August first, and she scheduled a monthly review meeting for the beginning of every month."
Wu Yun nodded. "I’m heading to my office. Have the people from the General Affairs Department come see me there."
As Wu Yun walked to his office, he recalled Wu Ying telling him that the HR and Administration departments had been merged to form the General Affairs Department.
The two receptionists, who had never seen Wu Yun before, excitedly asked Peng Yujun, "So that’s our President Wu? He’s so young! He totally has that overbearing CEO vibe!"
"Don’t even think about it," Peng Yujun said. "President Wu is way out of the league for ordinary girls like us." Of course, to be hired as receptionists, their looks and demeanor were top-notch, far from "ordinary." But in Peng Yujun’s mind, a rich heir like Wu Yun would never be short of women. If she threw herself at him, she’d just be another toy to be played with and discarded.
’Besides, she had seen how intimate President Wu was with the two beautiful vice presidents. If there wasn’t something going on there, she’d eat her hat. But that was a thought she had to keep buried deep inside; she couldn’t be the one to spread such rumors.’
After speaking, Peng Yujun left the reception desk and went to the General Affairs Department’s workspace. She addressed the four young women sitting there, "President Wu wants to see you in his office."
"President Wu?"
"Right!" one of the women said, snapping to attention. She stood up and announced to the others, "Come on, the Chairman has summoned us! Time to meet the legendary rich-kid chairman."
The other three quickly caught on. By the time they had joined the company, Wu Yun had already stopped coming in regularly, so none of them had ever seen him in person.
Wu Yun sat in the swivel chair he had only occupied a handful of times, assigning tasks to the General Affairs employees who had just walked in.
"I was originally thinking of taking the whole company out for dinner tonight, but it’s getting late, and some of you might already have plans. So, I’d like to arrange it for tomorrow evening instead."
Wu Yun pointed to the tallest woman and another who was slightly chubby. "You two, go around and ask everyone what they’d like to eat. Don’t hold back—the budget is two hundred yuan per person. Oh, and let the finance department know this isn’t a company expense. It’s on me."
Then, he turned to the other two women. "As for you two...."
