Chapter 91: Final Treatment
In the evening, they led the herd of Sky Bisons back to the beast farm.
Although the chubby worker mumbled complaints about inefficiency and whatnot, Seraph didn’t pay attention to him.
Instead, he simply collected the necessary documents and returned to the Mission Hall with his friends.
The old man behind the counter seemed pleased with them completing the mission and rewarded them generously.
"You guys can have it. I and Sylvia have enough already."
Seraph said as he passed the pouch of gold spirit crystals to the hesitant Fellin.
"Hm," He nodded, then glanced at the others. "Well, we’ll be taking our leave now. See you soon, Senior Brother Seraph."
After exchanging heartwarming hugs with them, Seraph watched them leave with a smile.
"You’re missing them already?"
Sylvia asked, standing beside him.
Seraph laughed, but didn’t reply. He simply walked towards Elder Song’s mansion close to the peak of the mountain.
She quietly followed behind him.
When they arrived, it looked like she was already expecting them.
"Seraph, little sister. How’re you doing?"
She smiled warmly, still radiating a strong charming aura despite her weakened condition.
Seraph smiled back. "I had a splendid day, Elder."
Sylvia nodded beside him. "Likewise."
"I’m surprised you came earlier. Is there any reason, Seraph?"
She asked, sitting on a couch while the two sat on another.
The white-haired young man rubbed the space between his eyebrows and sighed.
"I simply did a few things today, and I need to be up again to see the end. That’s why I don’t want to delay anything."
Although puzzled by his words, she still smiled and nodded.
Seraph took out a box from his storage ring, then pulled out a wrapped paper-cloth with special needles lined on it.
Approaching Elder Song, he took out a pair of apuncture needles and stabbed it into her wrists.
Then he took out another pair and stabbed it into the biggest vein in her elbow joint.
Her brows furrowed slightly.
Seraph didn’t stop. He grabbed two more apuncture needles and looked at her.
Understanding what was next, the woman slowly pulled up her gown untill it revealed her milky white thighs.
Sharpening his mind so he won’t be distracted by the sight, he stabbed the needles into the flesh right above her knees.
Instantly, her movements stiffened, and she was unable to move any part of her body except her head.
"Honestly, Seraph. I still fail to understand where you got this knowledge and skills from."
He just smiled and didn’t reply. Then, he took out the flute.
"Please open your mouth."
Although he could keep his expression straight, Sylvia and her sister failed to suppress a faint blush from appearing on their cheeks.
Song complied and parted her lips slightly.
With an expressionless face, Seraph inserted one end of the flute into her mouth.
Then he leaned forward a bit, locked his lips around the other end of the flute, and drew a breath using his mouth.
Song’s body shook, trembling violently as her veins became vivid, the purple color contrasting her white skin that looked like snow from the Winter Peak.
Sylvia’s brows furrowed in worry, but she didn’t move. She didn’t want to disturb the process at all.
’This will be painful. I have to do it all at once.’
Seraph thought as he exhaled through his nose, then sucked in air heavily through his lips.
What came into his mouth wasn’t air, but a suffocating, aqueous poison that immediately rushed through his lungs and spread to his heart, rapidly corrupting his blood.
His face turned pale like a sheet of paper, his body trembling softly.
’Argh...’
Everywhere the poison passed in his body, he felt an itching pain. It wasn’t as bad as when he consumed Maria’s food, but it was still an unpleasant experience.
He didn’t stop, though. Exhaling through his nose, he drew more of the poison, feeling Song squirm in discomfort on the cushion.
The apuncture needles kept her in place, also allowing air to flow into her veins in minute quantity.
This aided the movement of the poison out of her body.
Gradually, the purple veins started turning normal, and she no longer struggled intensely.
On the other hand, Seraph’s condition was worsening. He was sweating buckets, his face pale and his body trembling.
Sylvia watched with tension coiling in her muscles.
"This..."
She whispered to herself, eyes trembling as she saw their condition worsen.
Suddenly, Seraph stumbled back and spat black blood.
Sylvia immediately sprang up to help him, but he raised a hand, signalling for her to stop.
When he opened his eyes, the rainbow colored pupils were very dark and determined.
"I’ll finish it."
He staggered back to Song, then immediately continued drawing the poison.
["Seraph, you know this poison has developed a consciousness. It wouldn’t just leave her body and come into yours. Even if you force it, you might not be able to refine it fast enough. You’re taking a gamble."]
Inwardly, Seraph replied tiredly to Halo’s warning. ’Don’t worry, I have no intentions of dying. At least not at this stage.’
Halo didn’t say anything again, falling silent.
’Almost done...’
Exhaling all the air in his lungs, he waited until he was almost choking, then drew in all the remaining poison in Song’s body at once—including the poison’s developing consciousness.
Instantly, he staggered back, coughing up black blood on the ground.
His vision blurred, and his brain ached.
’Wait. Brain?’ 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Suddenly, his eyes widened. "Arrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh!!!"
A piercing scream escaped his throat as he grabbed his head and collapsed to the ground.
"Seraph!"
Sylvia immediately rushed to his side, holding his hand and shouting his name.
However, Seraph couldn’t even hear her. His consciousness was being attacked, and he felt like his head was going to explain.
’Ahh... why is it so strong?!’
Inwardly, Halo answered him in a calm manner. ["Although it is just a. Infant Consciousness, it is far stronger than a human consciousness."]
’Damnit! I can’t hold out!’
["Sigh, it seems I ’have no choice’ but to help you."]
In the mansion, Song had used her spiritual energy to eject the needles and also rushed to his side.
"Big sister. What could have happened? He usually doesn’t scream."
Sylvia asked worriedly.
Song’s brows were also furrowed, and she placed a hand on his chest. Closing her eyes, she sent her soul perception into his body.
"His soul is disturbed."
