Chapter 350: More To A Vision (Ch.350)

"With Your Grace’s permission, I will excuse myself first." Neveah added.

She waited to receive Jian’s nod of consent which he gave.

Neveah lowered her head to a bow and then took her leave from the tent, magnanimously allowing the lord dragons the privacy they required to deliberate in her absence.

Clearly, Jian did not appreciate or welcome Neveah’s presence or involvement all that much...or at all.

"His Grace will consider it, you can be sure of that." A familiar voice assured Neveah and Neveah turned over, surprised to find Dante.

The young man was leaned against a sword rack not so far from King Jian’s tent and it did not seem like he had just arrived.

"Are you... eavesdropping on His Grace?!" Neveah demanded with a frown.

"Oh no, I just happened to hear your last few words."

"Besides, His Grace knows I was out here. My presence could not escape his notice even if I tried." Dante replied with a casual shrug.

"That is also true." Neveah murmured with a nod.

"You wish to see His Grace then? I do not suppose now would be a good time." Neveah added, knowing Jian and his most trusted had a lot to deliberate over.

"I am not here for His Grace, I came in search of you. Elle was concerned and..."

"Well, after that tense atmosphere in the forest, I thought I would come check in and you were not in your tent." Dante replied.

"But now does not seem like a good time for you either." Dante added as an afterthought.

Neveah knew Dante referred to her agitated mood and so she was quick to ease her stance.

"I am quite accustomed to how guarded His Grace is against me, it is nothing new."

"I appreciate the concern, but I am just fine. Was that all?" Neveah asked as she lead the way back to her tent.

"Not exactly... I was hoping I could speak with you." Dante replied honestly.

Neveah nodded in understanding, although she was not certain what Dante would have to say to her but she ushered him into her assigned tent.

Neveah walked over to her bed and took a seat, she was in desperate need of a shower but that could wait till Dante took his leave.

"I know you must think it strange that I claim to have seen you in a vision..." Dante began.

Neveah opened her mouth to claim otherwise but her lips went shut again, since there was no denying that she did find it strange.

"There are a lot of strange happenings in a stronghold overrun by magic and magical creatures."

"I have equally gotten accustomed to entertaining strange ideas. You do not owe me any explanations, Dante." Neveah assured.

"I would have none to give even if an explanation was required of me. I also have no idea about the vision I saw." Dante said with a small chuckle as he sat on a stool across from Neveah.

"Only that it was so vivid, and the need to ensure your safety in the vision was even stronger in my waking moment."

"You see, I was hoping you could help me understand why of all the futures I could have seen, why was it you in my vision?" Dante continued.

"You need to understand, for we dragons, even dreams are few and far between and each are of great significance, linked to the bonds we share...familial ties and the likes." Dante explained to Neveah.

"I was in a state of detachment...my mind was in a dark place and it still is. I have not had a single dream in over a summer..."

"Now this vision was induced, this I know. But I have never met you before, neither did I know of you,"

"And the Scabbard dragons shares no blood ties with Lord Menarx of the North, why have I seen you in my vision then?" Dante asked in puzzlement.

Neveah just stared in silence, she was not certain what response Dante expected.

Neveah could hardly understand or explain the events happening in her own life, how could she account for what Dante had seen?

"Forgive my enquiry, I find myself certain that there is a meaning behind this. I know it but I just cannot place a hand on what exactly it is." Dante continued, sighing quietly.

"I and Elle must leave for the Citadel at dawn, this is not the right place for what we must protect and His Grace agrees. It is already a great favour we have arrived safely."

"I guess what I am trying to say is, I feel the need to tell you before I leave that whatever my vision meant,"

"My instincts tell me you will experience a great change soon... and it will be one you are not prepared to face... I am hardly ever wrong." Dante said in a serious tone.

For whatever reason, Neveah felt Dante’s words could not be taken lightly.

And Neveah was not even certain since she was not one to hearken to all such superstitions but somehow, she knew Dante was truly concerned for her safety... whatever his reasons were.

"You barely know me, you have no reason to be concerned for me Dante." Neveah pointed out the obvious.

"I do not." Dante agreed and that was all the response he gave.

For a moment, Dante and Neveah were both silent, lost in their respective thoughts.

"Your thoughtfulness is much appreciated Dante, I will heed your words." Neveah finally said.

Dante hummed in approval, rising to his feet, he gestured towards the door.

"Now I must go pay special greetings to my uncle. Lest he holds a grudge for the decades I have not visited the White Dunes." Dante changed the topic.

"Your uncle? A dune dragon?" Neveah asked with a raised brow.

"Oh...you would not know of it, the Dune lord was originally born in Fort Scabbard." Dante replied with a casual shrug as he headed out of Neveah’s tent.
