Omega's Rebirth - Chapter 257: The Rider’s Academy 2 ()
Elina flipped open the note Neveah had given, reading through the contents, she sniggered.
"Do you know what this says?" Elina asked Neveah with a raised brow.
Neveah did not think it mattered, Lord Rodrick had said to pass it on to the rider who was to receive her and that was exactly what Neveah had done.
"No." Neveah replied blankly.
Elina nodded as she stored the note in her belt and turned, gesturing with her head.
"Come then, I will show you to your master." Elina informed as she lead the way down the path.
Neveah passed a glance to the gates of the academy before she followed after Elina.
The cobbled path was barricaded on both sides by tall pillars and the path lead from the gate right through a vast field and went on to the entrance of a large building.
"This is the outer landing platform for dragon lords and for flight practice. It can hold at least fifty dragons at the same time hence it is the largest landing platform even compared to dragon keep."
"Of course, such a large space has a lot more uses which you will come to know of in time." Elina informed, gesturing to the large field that stretched on for miles.
"Beyond this is the first tower which holds the study rooms, the offices belonging to the Masters and other workers in the academy."
"The library, weapon room, map room, history hall, meeting room and others are all located in the first tower." Elina continued, gesturing to the large building at the end of the cobbled path.
"Now, it would take forever to actually show you each of these places so you will have to discover them for yourself as time goes on."
"You may rest assured your attention will be required at every hall at some point in time." Elina said as they walked on.
"Beyond the first tower is the second tower which is the residential estate of the riders. But our destination is the first tower." Elina informed.
"Now, as it is with any academy in the stronghold, the hierarchy in the riders academy is much similar."
"The academy has it’s head master, and three senior masters who are in charge of guiding the riders. There are also junior masters who handle other courses of study."
"Every course of study is compulsory, be it history or combat training. No rider is allowed an exemption from any of these regardless of your... affiliations." Elina added, passing Neveah a look.
Neveah ignored the obvious jab in Elina’s words and just quietly followed after her.
Neveah’s gaze wandered, there were a few people in sight but none of them were riders.
Considering the time of the day, Neveah recalled the other noble ladies would be busy with their classes at this time and so she assumed it was the same for the riders.
"These are study hours, most of the riders are in their study rooms at this time. However, Master Heather is holding a class in the training field, past the first tower."
"We will go around to the other entrance of the first tower, so we will be past the training field first." Elina said as though she sensed what Neveah was thinking.
"I do not think you will have to concern yourself with study today. First, you must meet your master." Elina added, clearing her throat at the end.
Neveah sensed that action was done in an attempt to cover up amusement, but Neveah could not be certain.
Something was off about Elina’s actions and how she suddenly felt so comfortable to tell Neveah so much about the academy.
Neveah also noted Elina’s strange behavior started right from the moment she read the note from Lord Rodrick.
It had Neveah wondering just what exactly Lord Rodrick had written in his note and why it was so interesting to Elina.
Neveah did not bother asking, she knew Elina would not tell her even if she did ask. And Neveah was certain she would find out soon enough.
Instead of dwelling on Elina’s strange actions, Neveah’s thoughts drifted to a person she had consciously avoided thinking of all day... the person up in Mount Edar.
’Menarx was hurt... would he have heard?’ Neveah wondered to herself.
Neveah was certain word of Menarx’s attack had spread all across keep skies by now,
Though word could not reach such a place as Mount Edar, Neveah knew there was a possibility Xenon would sense Menarx was harmed... they were all bonded, were they not?
’He would worry...’ Neveah thought, knowing well enough how much Xenon cherished his brothers even though he did not know how to show it.
Neveah did not need to ask if Xenon would descend the mountain, Neveah knew he would not...not even for Menarx.
’Forget him, Neveah... Xenon’s path is dark and he can only walk it alone.’ Neveah’s wolf reminded her.
"Indeed." Neveah murmured to herself.
"Is that her?" An unfamiliar voice asked, drawing Neveah out of her thoughts.
Neveah returned her attention to her surrounding to realize they had arrived at the training field and a group of six riders were now headed their way.
"This is Neveah, I am to escort her to her master." Elina replied.
Neveah took one look at the group of riders and that was all it took for her to realize she was not liked.
"Neveah...the wolf princess, turned price of the dragon king, turned attendant of the black fiend, turned rider of Lord Menarx. Your fame precedes you!" A red haired rider dressed in a dim yellow riding dress called out.
The rest of the riders broke out into laughter at her words.
"It is daring of you to walk in here, to enter our ranks...as an attendant, your lord went wild. A rider for only a day and your dragon nearly met his death..."
"A living... breathing jinx stands before us." The red haired rider continued with a sneer.
