Omega's Rebirth - Chapter 216: As Far As It Takes ()
~The Eclipse Palace~
The doors to the throne room were thrown open and Alpha Queen Vilma stormed in, her eyes blazing with rage.
Her eyes searched the throne room before it settled on Alessio who sat in the place of the Alpha King, staring back at his mother with a raised brow.
At his side was Lado with whom Alessio had been exchanging some words.
"Alessio! Just what are you up to?!" Alpha Queen Vilma snapped as she moved further into the hall.
Alessio raised a brow as he lifted a hand and dismissed Lado.
Lado took his leave and Alessio was left alone with his mother.
"If father had been here, right where I sit... would you be daring enough to barge in as you just did?" Alessio asked in a dangerously low tone.
Terran, Alessio’s wolf paced within him, ready to rise to the surface at any moment.
In recent times, Alessio found his rage was easily triggered and with each passing day, Terran grew even more restless.
Alpha Queen Vilma was taken aback by Alessio’s words and she opened her mouth to speak but shut it back up, uncertain of what exactly she could say.
"Be at ease, mother. I shall not take it to heart. To what might I owe the pleasure of your unannounced visit?" Alessio asked, forcing his wolf to calm.
"Your father has been gone for three days, Alessio. How is it that all the guard placements are being changed?"
"Should your father return and find the Eclipse Palace any different than he had left it, he will have you pay for it." Alpha Queen Vilma reasoned in urgency.
Alessio scoffed beneath his breath at his mother’s words. It was only until this far that Alessio would let his father intimidate him.
There had been times where the mere mention of his father’s name would set Alessio straight, but those times had passed now.
Alessio was no longer interested in giving in to his father, or anyone for that matter.
"So that is where your concern lies...but you need not worry, mother. I am father’s only son which makes me indispensable."
"You should be more worried that I find him the exact opposite... to me, father is dispensable." Alessio replied with a casual shrug, a malicious glint in his eyes.
Alpha Queen Vilma gasped quietly as she staggered backwards.
"Alessio... just what are you plotting?" Alpha Queen Vilma asked in horror.
Alessio smirked as he glanced around the throne room.
"Mother, it is about time all of this...be made mine." Alessio replied.
Alessio did not conceal the truth from his mother, either ways, there was nothing she or anyone else could do about it.
"There has been strange movements all around the keep in these past days."
"The warriors... the Eclipse Alphas, even the witches. You...you intend to overthrow your father?" Queen Vilma whispered.
"I would not call it an overthrow mother. I would call it... succession." Alessio replied easily.
"Alessio... this... must it be this way? You are to be your father’s heir! Why would you seek to put things in disarray?!" Alpha Queen Vilma exclaimed in a shaky tone.
"Indeed. I would succeed him either ways. So what difference does it make if it happens sooner, rather than later?" Alessio asked curiously as he got off the throne and descended the stairs.
Alessio strode casually over to his mother, coming to a halt by her side, he leaned down so he was close enough that only she could hear his words.
"Father’s throne was taken by battle and bloodshed. Father’s reign was protected by even more bloodshed and terrors. When has anything ever been done by the right or fair means in our lineage?"
"That father of mine is a butcher...a tyrant. But he is my father and if there is one thing I have learnt from him, it is the fact that right and wrong are determined by the winner..."
"Father must have also known when he began raising me to be just like him, that just like he had... I will seize all I desire by blood."
"I will be Alpha King, mother. Not when father deems it fit but when I chose to... and if I must douse the Eclipse Domain in blood for this, then so be it." Alessio hissed in a dark tone.
"Alessio...gods, what has happened to you?!" Alpha Queen Vilma exclaimed.
"I have always been this way, mother. You were just to busy wrapped up in your own darkness that you failed to see mine." Alessio replied with a shrug.
"Now mother, when the time is right, you shall also be required to chose a side." Alessio added in a low whisper that sent a cold chill of terror down Queen Vilma’s spine.
"And your father? What shall you do with him?" Alpha Queen Vilma asked nervously.
"Father? Even without my help, he already has too many enemies. The moment he stepped out of the protection of the Eclipse Palace, he should have been prepared for the consequences."
"I doubt I will have to make a move myself, and if I have to, there is time enough."
"First... I must take the King’s castle, the King’s army, the King’s world and then...the King’s life." Alessio replied with a cold smile.
"You would kill your own father?" Queen Vilma gasped out in horror.
"Father once told me...’power knows no ties’..." Alessio began, his eyes hazy as he recalled a memory.
"He said these words right before he had me kill my most treasured friend. I was only but twelve summers then, yet I still remember the warmth of his heart grasped in my hand as the blood trailed down my claws."
"It was not my first kill, far from it... neither was it my last. But it was the kill father approved of the most." Alessio murmured.
"Why? Because he saw reflected in me at that moment, the monster that he also was..."
"Yes mother, I am the monster he made. And while he made me...you stood on the sidelines and watched. This time...you will have to do the same." Alessio whispered.
"How far... just how far will you go Alessio?" Alpha Queen Vilma asked.
"As far...as it takes." Alessio replied as he brushed past Queen Vilma and strode out of the hall.
