Obscure Op: Survive As Fallen Noble With Gunsmith Skill In Eroge World
Chapter 82 - 81 - Chasing By Black Wolf Of The Night Pack
In the morning, which was still warm and filled with social activities, I stepped on the gas pedal of the Humvee to leave the refugee camp area.
My destination was a forest that bore silent witness of a massacre of bandits shot with GECAL 50 bullets. In accordance with the wise King's instructions, I was accompanied by Doctor Portia and a new General who had not yet introduced himself. An uninvited guest also riding on the roof of the Humvee, but I ignored her because our relationship was not close enough to warrant conversation.
Vroomm...
Vroomm...
Without attracting the attention of the people and the royal knights who were preparing to return to the Royal Capital of Belfast, my hands remained on the steering wheel, and my feet pressed the pedals too deeply.
The vibrations from the rough, rocky road shook the Humvee, nearly causing the uninvited guest riding on the roof to fall off, but she was still able to maintain her balance.
The journey into the forest into its deepest reaches was filled with silence and the rough jolts of the rocky path. To avoid breaking this peaceful and empty atmosphere, I kept my mouth shut the entire way.
"According to the report I received, you killed the bandits hiding at the ambush point. That means you acted before the King's reconnaissance unit could even move. Aren't you being too diligent and enthusiastic about this, Hans?" said Doctor Portia, looking at me, who was focused on the rocky road ahead.
The silence and calm I felt suddenly collapsed after Doctor Portia spoke.
I wanted to be silent and be a driver who focused on staring at the rocky road in front of me, but it seemed that Doctor Portia wouldn't allow that.
"I'm curious about your answer, too. Information about their potential ambush point was only known before General Keno launched his coup at night," said the new General, sitting calmly in the back seat of the Humvee.
"With what had happened the previous night, I could see the panic in General Keno's eyes after the information about the bandits' ambush points reached the King and accelerated his plans to stage a coup d'état at night."
"However... after hearing your confession that you had killed several bandits hiding in the deepest part of the forest. Then, I can saw General Keno's frightened face in my mind because his coup plan failed when he entered the forest area. After he insisted on going through the forest route, Hahaha!!"
"What a waste of effort, General Keno!!"
The new General seemed quite pleased after witnessing the defeat of a former General he respected as a colleague. The new General's reasoning was quite sound, especially considering the decision to enter the known dangerous forest route.
My past memory of this eroge world's storyline already knew something big was going to happen in the forest. Although the event wasn't mentioned in the game's narrative, and the main character time-skipped to quickly reach the Royal Capital of Belfast, it was clear that something unknown to the players would be a foreshadowing factor in the future.
My position of having entered this eroge world and possessing the body of an NPC character who is ready to die in the future has changed several storylines that were supposed to happen in the future.
The words of the new General tickled my head.
The incident concerning Elaina's trauma over the betrayal of an important figure she respected, and Kitano Mina's guilt, which led one of her disciples to take the dirty path of a traitor. That certainly would happened, and the incident was simply passed off as a simple narrative.
I still remember the monologue spoken by the main character when he arrived in the Royal Capital of Belfast.
[ A terrible incident has happened, and luckily I am still safe... ]
With just one line of that monologue, coinciding with his awakening as a Hero, personally appointed by the Goddess Luna, players mistakenly assumed the monologue was the main character's resurrection, who capable of overcoming his terrible destiny.
"Haaahh... I agree," I replied while responding to General Keno's words, which sounded impolite to his dead colleague.
Vrooommm...
Vrrrooommm...
The Humvee I was driving had reached the forest entrance. Marked by large trees and dense undergrowth reach the size of an adult, and I pressed a small button that activated the GECAL 50 weapons system.
There are still some remaining rounds and spare barrels of other calibers stored in the Humvee's trunk, so the GECAL 50's have a variety firepower that can be use as replacement.
Maybe, that variety firepower is the price I have to pay after wasting the spare bullets installed in the GECAL 50 beforehand.
"Ugh, so this is my price when going wild in other day, huh?" I muttered under my breath and pulled up the small monitor that displayed the thermal vision of the GECAL 50 weapons system.
This mild morning made it easy to read the thermal camera's black-and-white display. The overgrown undergrowth appeared on the small monitor, and my mind was busy trying to remember the location of the pile of bandit corpses I had killed.
Beepp...
Beepp...
A small spike on the small monitor screen detected a heat source distinct from the warm sunlight. My eyes darted to it and saw a bush split in two.
"Ah, found it," I said as I pressed my foot deeper onto the gas pedal.
The sudden surge of information from the GECAL 50 weapons system coincided with the opening of the Humvee's hatch and Chitose's come to inside.
Krraanngg!!
Brraanngg!!
Chitose quickly closed the Humvee's hatch and placed all of her weapons beside the new General, who was sitting quietly.
"Well, looks like we're going to have some another uninvited guests at the party," I said as my left hand reached for the GECAL 50's weapons system controls.
The safety pin mechanism installed in the GECAL 50 weapon system was immediately released, and the small monitor screen in front of me showed a small message that the weapon was ready to be used at any time.
The hot engine Humvee growling out loud, pushed through the brush it had previously traversed. The bumps in the Humvee were so strong that it managed to break through the bush and was greeted by a sight that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.
A black figure...
With thick hair and large number of groups...
Sharp fangs were hanging out of their mouths, and they were busy tearing apart the rotting corpses of the bandits...
"Oh, shit, it was a warm welcome for us."
My heart was beating fast, and I was trying my best to stay focused on driving this fast-moving Humvee.
Swoooossshhh...
Swooosshhh...
The slight breeze that blew and the sound rattled from the windows of the Humvee beside me had given me some horror of how close the Humvee was to the black figure, who was feasting on corps food.
I don't know what kind of animal or monster it is, but it's certainly ferocious enough to be able to eat corpses without difficulty.
Maybe it's like a a hyena, who likes to eat rotten corpses or a wild monster that lives in this forest area.
"The number you killed was quite a lot, huh? Now I can see the panicked expression on General Keno's face too, after his main fighting force was wiped out in one night," said Doctor Portia in a calm tone, and felt her breast pocket. A small, shiny object came into view, and it was a pair of glasses.
Doctor Portia quickly put on the glasses she had just taken out and turned to look out the window beside her.
A small, thin magic circle was visible on the lenses of hr glasses, coinciding with my focus on controlling the speed of the Humvee that was penetrating this unknown crowd of black figure.
"Ooohh!! A black wolf of the night!"
"It's a rare moment to see them on a bright morning like this."
"Looks like we're in luck, Hans!" said Doctor Portia, looking delighted and adjusting her glasses to see from all angles.
My mind, which was busy controlling the speed of the Humvee, was now distracted by the reflection in the rearview mirror, which showed three black figures running after me from behind the Humvee.
"What's so lucky about being chased like this?" I replied, positioning my left hand to grip the steering wheel, while my right hand reached into my pocket and pulled out a Glock-17, to ready to fire.
Tsk... tsk...
Leaning on my left arm and my right hand pulling the top slide of the Glock-17, the 9mm round has entered the firing chamber.
Whether it's a black night wolf or a night wolf in black, whatever it is!!
It was definitely a threat if they were chasing like this!!
"This is enough for the evidence report, right?" I asked Dr. Portia, who seemed unfazed by this intense pursuit.
"Yes, the evidence is right before our eyes, but we need to bring some rotten body as a evidence to show to the King," replied the new General with a calm expression on his face in this situation.
"Take some rotten body as a evidence, huh?" I asked to make sure.
"Yes, an evidence that we can take home to present to the King."
"Ugh, sure, for our King, so troublesome..." I said, holding back a small grumble that almost slipped out.
Vrooommm...
Vrooommm...
The Humvee I was driving was going fast, but apparently not fast enough to outrun the three black figures that were starting to parallel me. My right arm immediately pulled the door lever, which was roughly and heavily swung open by a strong gust of wind.
The wind pressure as the Humvee was traveling at high speed broke into the Humvee, and at the same time, I pulled the trigger of the Glock-17, which was aimed at one of the black figures' heads.
BBAANNGGG!!
A test shot was fired, and a black figure that was chasing us fell...
"Hooouu... 9mm caliber seems to be enough to kill the entire herd, if hit their head," I muttered as I controlled the Humvee's speed and prepared for a counterattack.
