Zombie Bodyguard-Chapter 1392 - 1389: Returning to the Imperial Capital
"Don’t worry, according to the contract I’m still the bodyguard for the Xiao Family. This is within my duty." Lin Tian said assuredly.
"Thank you, Mr. Lin." Secretary Xu nodded slightly, expressing gratitude.
Lin Tian waved his hand and said, "Oh, by the way, my phone got broken. If you have time, please help me get a new SIM card, same number."
"That’s easy, there’s a service office next to Daxia. I’ll have someone handle it, should be done in half an hour." Secretary Xu laughed, and promptly picked up the landline to make arrangements without any hesitation, showing the efficiency expected of a president’s secretary.
In any case, it was she who had previously handled his phone and number. She had all his personal data, and Lin Tian didn’t mind waiting the half-hour; it would probably take him longer to handle it himself.
In fact, before half an hour passed, there was a knock on the office door. After Secretary Xu called "Come in," the door opened and a young woman entered.
The woman paused for a second upon seeing a man in the room, and then recognized him—wasn’t he the man she met in the elevator? Lin Tian noticed her too, having shared a brief encounter in the elevator. He smiled and nodded.
"Do you... know each other?" Secretary Xu asked curiously.
Lin Tian smiled and said, "This lovely lady gave me directions on my way up, and now she’s helped me again. Thank you very much."
The woman glanced at Lin Tian curiously and nodded, "You’re welcome." After putting down the items, she left.
Secretary Xu took out a box from the bag and brought it to Lin Tian, saying, "Here’s the SIM card, and here’s the phone. Anything else, Mr. Lin?"
As she leaned down to hand it over, Lin Tian observed her figure and looks up close. He couldn’t deny she was quite beautiful.
Finally understanding why bosses favor hiring well-built female secretaries, Lin Tian thought.
However, Lin Tian’s stability had been well-tested; even the Bewitching Techniques of Fox Concubine and Asina couldn’t affect him. So, he simply regained his composure and said, "Thank you." Then took the phone and card.
A woman’s sixth sense is very sharp, especially when they are being watched by a man. Secretary Xu, of course, noticed Lin Tian looking at her, but found his gaze candid, clear, even appreciative—but not lustful.
Secretary Xu’s eyes flickered as if lost in thought, then she straightened up.
"I have some things to take care of, so I’ll leave the group matters to you." Lin Tian opened the box, installed the SIM card, turned on the phone and upon confirming it worked, stood up to leave.
He was ready to leave as even Secretary Xu didn’t know Miss’s whereabouts, it’s unlikely anyone else would.
"Mr. Lin, please rest assured. It’s my duty," Secretary Xu said earnestly.
Lin Tian nodded, turned, and left the office. As he entered the elevator, he dialed the first call on his new phone.
"It’s Lin Tian." Lin Tian didn’t waste any time, quickly stating his name. He hated calls where the first thing the other party says is, "Guess who I am?"
Lin Tian always wanted to say, "Guess your grandpa, if I knew you well, I’d remember you naturally. If not, why should I remember you? Besides, how can one recognize you just by your voice?"
Quickly, a voice came over the phone, "Oh, it’s Mr. Lin. Mr. Qi mentioned encountering you this morning. Didn’t expect you to really be back. What can I do for you?"
Lin Tian had called Qi Dapeng, whose loud voice remained unchanged. Martial artists have strong lungs, resulting in a loud voice. Although Qi Dapeng had become smoother due to business dealings, some habits hadn’t changed.
Originally, Lin Tian wanted Mr. Qi to handle something, but without Mr. Qi’s number, he turned to Mr. Qi’s father.
"Please have Mr. Qi book a flight ticket for me to Jinghua City for tomorrow morning. Have him pick me up at the Xiao Mansion in the morning to go to the airport." Lin Tian laid out everything clearly without small talk with Qi Dapeng.
"Rest assured, Mr. Lin. I’ll ensure he gets the job done, or I’ll break his legs," Qi Dapeng guaranteed loudly.
Lin Tian chuckled, shook his head, and hung up. If Qi Dapeng truly disciplined his son like that, Mr. Qi wouldn’t have turned out so unruly—a typical idle playboy.
Luckily, having faced life and death, Mr. Qi had transformed, and Qi Dapeng didn’t have to worry about raising a useless son anymore.
The elevator descended to the basement parking lot, and as Lin Tian finished his call, he made his way to the garage. It was already closing time. Normally quiet, the garage was bustling now, especially when the group consisted mostly of female employees. With so many women leaving simultaneously, it was like a busy marketplace.
Lin Tian’s appearance drew plenty of attention. Some even recognized him, causing a stir.
Seeing that the women were about to start gossiping, Lin Tian quickly escaped, driving away. He feared no fierce enemy, but facing a group of women was a different story. It’s best to leave early.
Returning to Xiao Mansion, the villa was empty except for him. Lin Tian casually cooked some noodles for dinner. Training and refining the Crescent Blade had become his routine. When habits become ingrained, they become power in training and mental strength, keeping you persistent in cultivation.
The next morning, awoken by the alarm, just as he was eating breakfast, the housekeeper reported that a young man was visiting outside. Lin Tian knew it was Mr. Qi.
He packed the essential items and, after a moment’s thought, decided to take the safe with him. It was a portable one, inconspicuous when carried, and inside were the medicine cauldron and shapeshifting stone, which he wasn’t comfortable leaving at home.
Unexpected, he was staying only one night before leaving again. As he left the Xiao Mansion, Mr. Qi had been waiting for a long time.
Mr. Qi hurried to take Lin Tian’s suitcase, but as soon as he grabbed it, he felt its incredible weight, nearly dropping it on his foot. He never imagined such a lightweight-looking case could be so heavy. He struggled to load it into the trunk.
"Brother Tian, here’s the plane ticket. If the flight isn’t delayed, you’ll reach the Imperial Capital by noon," Mr. Qi handed Lin Tian the ticket from his pocket.
"Alright, let’s go." Lin Tian nodded, boarded the car, and suddenly asked, "Oh, by the way, are metal items allowed on the plane?"
Lin Tian was genuinely uncertain about this. Mr. Qi answered while driving, "As long as they’re not sharp metal objects, it shouldn’t be an issue."
"Then it’s fine," Lin Tian said with relief. If the medicine cauldron couldn’t pass security, it would be trouble.
An hour later, Lin Tian stood in front of the security gate, where a charming female security officer blocked his way.
