Chapter 1391: Chapter 1388: Truly Missing

"Don’t worry, boss, I’ll report back as soon as there are any developments," Stone agreed earnestly.

Lin Tian patted his shoulder and said, "Alright, you go back and settle Wu Di and the others, I’ll head out on my own."

After bidding farewell to Stone and the Ghost Team, Lin Tian left the training base. As he was heading out the main gate, he encountered the man in black again. The man saluted him enthusiastically, and Lin Tian returned the gesture.

Before getting into the bulletproof car, Lin Tian concentrated for a moment, letting the fire energy roam through his body, burning off all the alcohol he had just consumed. Driving with the alcohol on his breath wasn’t a good idea, even though he wasn’t actually drunk.

He drove away from the training ground but didn’t return to the Xiao Mansion. Instead, he went to a landmark building, where the prominent letters read: Xiao Group.

It was just past four in the afternoon, not yet time to clock out. Lin Tian parked his car in the underground garage, opting not to enter through the main door but instead heading to an elevator.

This elevator could reach the floor where Mrs. Xiao and Xiao Manxue were located. Of course, a passcode or access card was required. Lin Tian retrieved a card from his pocket—courtesy of Secretary Xu last time—a presidential pass that allowed almost unrestricted access, except the underground laboratory.

With a beep, the elevator door opened. Lin Tian entered and pressed a number, and the elevator smoothly ascended. Midway, it stopped, and a young woman wearing a skirt and stockings walked in. She was surprised to see Lin Tian.

She had never seen Lin Tian before, yet he had the authority to use this elevator. Her own access came from frequent communications with various departments and senior leaders. She wondered about the identity of the stranger before her.

Lin Tian looked at her and smiled, "Hello, Miss Lu."

The woman was puzzled but responded politely, "Do you know me, sir? But I don’t think I’ve seen you around the building."

Lin Tian pointed to the badge on her chest, set against her blouse, and naturally, she realized he had identified her from the badge.

"I’m looking for your Secretary Xu Ying; do you know where she is?" Lin Tian inquired politely.

"Secretary Xu? She’s probably in the secretary’s office, or she might be in the president’s office," the woman replied instinctively, feeling an inexplicable trust towards Lin Tian.

Ding...

Just then, the elevator reached the floor, and Lin Tian smiled and thanked her before stepping out. He had visited the president’s office a few times before. Remembering his initial visit where he was almost teased into embarrassment by Miss Xiao was amusing.

Following the familiar path, he arrived outside an office door, with a prominent sign: President’s Office.

This was where Xiao Manxue usually worked, but Lin Tian didn’t push the door open. Instead, he activated his super vision, scanning the room, which was empty.

Thinking about the secretary’s office, Lin Tian walked to the adjacent office door. Before he was even close, he heard faint sounds of a phone call coming from inside.

Lin Tian recognized Secretary Xu’s voice, evidently coordinating assignments. Waiting for the call to end, he pressed the doorbell.

"Come in," Secretary Xu called, assuming it was a subordinate reporting on tasks. A president’s secretary holds a significant administrative rank.

Lin Tian entered, finding her absorbed in work. Despite being dressed in a refined skirt, on Secretary Xu, it somehow gave off a sense of uniform allure.

Noting Lin Tian’s silence, Secretary Xu felt something amiss, and raised her head from the paperwork. Seeing Lin Tian, her expression froze.

After a while, she exclaimed in surprise, "Mr. Lin, it’s you!"

Lin Tian didn’t respond but sat in the chair facing her desk, noting Secretary Xu’s necklace—a jade pendant.

This jade’s quality and appearance were familiar to Lin Tian; recalling briefly, he remembered it was a piece he gave Secretary Xu during the Gambling Stone Festival, worth around ten thousand yuan. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Given Secretary Xu’s salary, she could afford much better, but for some reason, she wore this jade accessory.

Seeing Lin Tian gazing intently at her neck and chest, Secretary Xu blushed and shifted the subject: "You must be looking for President Xiao?"

"But I know Miss Xiao is no longer in Xikou City. Do you know where she’s gone?" Lin Tian asked straightforwardly.

"I don’t know either. After returning from England, President Xiao left Xikou City without disclosing any travel plans. I haven’t been able to reach her. I have several documents requiring her approval, some needing her signature, and I couldn’t contact you, either. If this continues, I’m worried the company might face challenges."

Unexpectedly, Secretary Xu was more anxious than Lin Tian. Given the Xiao mother and daughter’s simultaneous disappearance, with numerous matters awaiting their decisions, it was understandable.

Mrs. Xiao and Xiao Manxue hold the highest administrative level at Xiao Group. If news of their absence spreads, it could cause a major stir within the company.

"How can I assist you?" Lin Tian understood the gravity of the situation and asked earnestly.

"There are a few urgent documents needing immediate decisions and signatures. If President Xiao is not present, given your level and shareholder status, you are authorized to handle them," Secretary Xu organized the documents and said.

Though just a few documents, each was thick with dozens of pages, accumulating significant unfinished work in just ten days, hinting at the demands of being president.

Lin Tian took the documents, rapidly browsing through them. In Secretary Xu’s eyes, Lin Tian seemed only to be flipping pages, incredulous that he might absorb the content at such speed.

Yet, as she thought this, Lin Tian spoke, pointing out critical elements and required changes, aligning with her notes perfectly. It required substantial effort on her part to remember the document’s gist, but Lin Tian grasped it with mere glances.

"Alright, documents are done. Anything else for the group?" Lin Tian said casually, having handled almost a day’s workload in less than half an hour without mistakes, leaving Secretary Xu astounded.

"Secretary Xu?" Lin Tian called, noticing her daze.

Secretary Xu snapped back to reality and quickly replied, "Oh, there aren’t any immediate issues with the group, but we hope you’ll find President Xiao soon. The longer she remains unreachable, the more it adversely affects the group."
