Zombie Apocalypse: Creation-Chapter 809: Baby Stories
One hour later.
"You found anything you like so far?"
Xiaoyun asked, his arm getting a little sore from holding the massive book that was bigger than his lap and flipping it for who knows how many times.
"I think this name seems good."
Looking at the name Tianci pointed at, it was a simple two-combination of Fengyan. Feng is elegant wind, while Yan is beauty.
"Seems good to me. Let’s go with that."
Just as he was about to close the book, Tianci suddenly leaned forward for a second before sitting back up.
"That’s absolutely not going to be the kid’s name." The other Tianci argued as both of her pupils turned red.
"Why not?"
"I just don’t like the sound of it."
After a few seconds of consideration, Xiaoyun accepted her demand as he opened the door back to where they had left behind.
"Okay then. Are there other names that you want to go with? Anything you saw in this book that you liked?"
"Just whatever it is, don’t have the letter be feng."
The odd request confused Xiaoyun a little, but he nodded in agreement as he started looking through the book again.
"You encountered something you like yet?"
The alternate Tianci shook her head, signaling Xiaoyun to flip page after page, until she suddenly stopped.
"Wait, I think I found something that I wanted."
"Let me see."
As Xiaoyun took a look at what the alternate Tianci had found, it was the name of Zimeng. Zi as in purple and Meng as in cute.
"Sounds good to me—"
"W-We’re not naming our kid Meng." The normal Tianci argued as she suddenly took back control of the body.
"Why not?" Xiaoyun curiously asked.
"I don’t like the sound of Meng."
"Um, okay. That’s fine too. So no Feng and no Meng is what I’m getting at?" Xiaoyun questioned.
Tianci nodded her head in agreement. Her left pupil remained brown while her right pupil remained red.
"Hm... How about I combine the two names into one? We name the kid Ziyan? Purple beauty is like the best of both worlds."
Seeing her sitting there, zoning out with her pupil constantly flipping colors, Xiaoyun waited patiently in silence.
"I... I think it’s a good idea." The normal Tianci answered first.
"Me too." The other Tianci added.
"Perfect. Let’s go with Ziyan." Xiaoyun murmured as he gently rubbed his hand over Tianci’s belly.
"Mhm. I’m going back to sleep. Don’t wake me up again... Unless you’re planning to feed me."
As the redness in Tianci’s pupil disappeared, the normal Tianci finally regained full control of her body once again.
"You really are a genius, Xiaoyun." Tianci shyly murmured as her face mysteriously flustered.
"Thanks... Oh shit, I completely forgot to ask the other Tianci’s opinion about something. Is she already asleep?"
"Yeah, she’s deep asleep now. But I can ask her myself when she wakes up again. What question is it?"
"What do you want our baby’s surname to be?"
"Surname?"
Seeing her staring back with a confused look, stress began to appear on Xiaoyun’s face as he already imagined another hour of debate.
"Please don’t tell me you guys never talked about it... Had she ever told you what her opinion is?"
"Um... I’m not sure."
"Oh. My. God. Fuck my life. There’s no way I never asked you this. What the hell am I doing as a father?"
As Xiaoyun facepalmed himself in disappointment, Tianci suddenly started giggling, unable to cover the smile with her hand.
"Why are you laughing at?"
"I was just joking, Xiaoyun. We already decided long ago to use your surname." Tianci answered.
"You serious?" Xiaoyun questioned, staring right into her eyes as if he didn’t believe her answer.
"Mhm. All of her sisters are named Chen. It would be weird for her to be named something else."
"Thank you... That was not funny, Tianci." Xiaoyun grudgingly muttered, still feeling a little annoyed by the switch-up.
"Hehe."
---
As noon turned into the evening, everyone was sitting on the sofa. Their hands are rubbing their belly as they have just finished eating dinner.
"Mom, you don’t have to cook so much anymore. You’re cooking a portion more than what’s needed." Nami commented.
"My bad. Force of habit. I’ll cook less next time... Yongyi, stop running."
"Blah!"
Seeing Yongyi making a face, Leyan shook her head as her son kept on chasing her sisters around the sofa.
"You aren’t going to stop them?"
Shuli raised her concern, her arms holding both Bingbing and Wenwen, who were almost half asleep despite the loud noise from the TV.
"They ate a lot today."
"That’s enough. No more running. Lianrong, come here."
As Yuqi yanked her daughter out of the floor, everyone just kept watching Yongyi chase after her daughter in circles.
"It’s a miracle they haven’t tripped yet," Anna commented as she watched the baby’s leg stumbling back and forth.
"Mhm." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"Almost time for the news... Qiaolan, come here."
Yueyue’s entry to the living room finally put an end to the goose chase as she lifted Qiaolan up from the floor.
"Xiaoyun, what’s taking you so long in the kitchen?" Kate asked out loud as he was the only one missing.
"The dishwasher can’t wash this stain off. Almost done with the last tip bit... You guys can watch without me."
Nami grabbed the remote and turned on the TV, only to be greeted by a blaring advertisement before any program could start.
"The freedom of the skies. The life of an airman. Do you have what it takes? Join the Air Force today—visit your local recruitment center."
"Yuqi, when did we have an air force?" Nami curiously asked.
"Don’t ask me. I wouldn’t know that... Kate, Anna, you two know anything about this at all?"
"Not a part of our business, but our competitor recently wrote a big contract with the Air Force."
Everyone in the living room could feel the annoyance in Anna’s voice, almost as if she were a little upset by it.
"Do we have those fighter jets?" Lily curiously asked.
"Last time I heard from the bidding process, they got those fighter jets. But none of them are flyable anymore."
"Oh."
"Lily, when did you become interested in the air force?" Leyan asked, with curiosity written all over her face.
"It’s just a friend of mine who has been thinking about signing up for the Air Force. I’m just asking for her sake."
None of them asked any further as the new shows finally came up right at eight o’clock, with the young man as the news anchor.
"Good evening..."
---
After the news, everybody went upstairs to take a shower, except for Xiaoyun, who had to stay behind to take care of the kids.
"Yongyi, it’s time for you to go to sleep. Don’t give Dada a hard job now. You don’t want to make Dada mad, do you?"
Seeing Yongyi staring right back with no signs of sleeping, he started to get a little annoyed as he carried him out of the crib.
"All of your sisters are asleep. Don’t be that kid now... Do you want to hear a story before you go to sleep or something?"
"Mm!"
"Okay then. Let’s see... Do you want to know what happened to the big bad bear after it found the three little pigs?"
Yongyi immediately nodded his head, so Xiaoyun quickly came up with a random continuation of the story.
"So, the three little pigs were caught. They were cornered in a tiny corner of the house, trapped with nowhere to go.
The fears in their eyes grew with every step. Five, four, three, two, one. The big bad bear was standing right before their faces."
"W-What happen n-next?"
"Um, here’s the twist. The funny part is, the big bad bear stopped. He asked three piggies where the bamboo trees were.
After getting the direction, the bear turned around and left. It turned out the bear was actually a big panda.
He just wanted to know where the bamboos were, and everyone in the animal kingdom knew the piggy had all the info on where things are."
As Yongyi’s eyes began to slowly close, Xiaoyun continued to whisper the story in a softer and softer tone.
"The piggies were relieved. They realized they had mistaken the mud that had stuck onto the panda for a brown bear.
Knowing the new info, they went back to bed, safely sleeping through the nights. Nothing could wake them now..."
"Zzz..."
Seeing his eyelids now fully closed, Xiaoyun slowly headed over to the guest hallway, opening the baby room’s door before putting him into his crib.
"Goodnight, everyone."
With the dimmed light off, he slowly closed the door. Heading upstairs, he opened the bathroom door, only to run into Leyan in the changing area.
"You finish taking a shower already?"
"You took too long... Are all the babies asleep?" Leyan curiously asked as she wiped her wet hair with a towel.
"Yeah. Ahem, excuse me."
