Chapter 373: Chapter 373: The Pit You Dug Yourself

Victor Grant deliberately stared at May Morgan’s increasingly pale face, secretly pleased: "May, you saw this video too, Vincent Vance’s injury wasn’t caused by me!"

May looked up at Victor, a trace of doubt flashing in her eyes: ’Why should I believe you? What if you had someone fake this video?’

Victor rolled his eyes, speechlessly pointing at Vincent in the video, questioning May: "You really are blind. Where would I find a picture of Vincent to fake this? Can’t you tell if it’s fake?"

Unwillingly, May shot him a glare without speaking, then played the video again. This time, she was almost certain that both Vincent and the video were real.

Moreover, seeing Vincent in a wheelchair during the meeting, the video must have been taken recently.

But, since this was a company meeting video of Vincent, how did Victor get it?

"Where did you get this video?" May tossed the phone back to Victor, unable to resist questioning him.

Victor didn’t hide anything from May, honestly admitting: ’Logan sent it to me just now. I guess there must have been major changes within the Vance Clan today, otherwise Vincent wouldn’t be attending meetings. Maybe Logan sent it to get back at Vincent.’

Upon hearing this, May’s mind was suddenly in turmoil, unsure of what to do. Had she really wronged Victor? But what about the video Monica Lambert showed her last night? Could it be that the video from last night was a fake Vincent had Monica show her?

But if Vincent had Monica make a fake video on purpose, why did Monica vehemently deny it afterward when asked?

Seeing May lost in thought, Victor quickly scooted closer and gently consoled her: "May, you saw this video too. It’s clearly one of Vincent’s tricks, trying to frame me to make you leave me."

May, with her conflicted thoughts, looked up at Victor and suddenly said: ’If it’s really as you say, then I need to ask him in person why he did this.’

Upon hearing her words, Victor quickly and cautiously advised: "What else could he want? He just wants you back. You can’t betray me; I haven’t done anything wrong. Besides, he’s a liar. Are you sure you want to go back to him?"

After saying this, Victor quickly held May’s small hand tightly: "May, you know how much I like you and how well my mom treats you. You can’t betray the Grant Family, nor can you betray me!"

Victor kept talking about emotions, which annoyed May. She was indeed a bit disappointed with Vincent, yet she was also internally conflicted.

No matter what, even if Vincent lied, wasn’t it to coax her back?

"I want to ask Vincent why he did this. If he admits it, I will choose to marry you and never cause trouble anymore, okay?"

After pondering, May hesitantly asked Victor.

Victor genuinely did not want May to see Vincent. Regardless of whether the video was real or not, it was clear May hadn’t completely given up on Vincent. What if Vincent said something and softened May’s heart?

But, if he didn’t let May see Vincent to clarify things, how could she willingly marry him and spend her life together?

"Well... alright, I need to negotiate with Vincent. When I bring you over, I must be present; you cannot meet him alone!" Victor nodded half-heartedly, reluctantly agreeing.

May looked at him speechlessly and glared: "How is it that you, a grown man, have a mind smaller than a needle’s eye? I’m just meeting with Vincent alone—what could we possibly do?"

Victor felt a bit embarrassed when scolded by May: "I didn’t say you could do anything, but you’re my wife—I can’t help but worry!"

"Alright, let’s do as you say. Get in touch with Vincent—I want to see him." May didn’t want to argue with Victor; he could watch if he wanted to. After all, she would just go ask Vincent and nothing else.

Seeing May nod, Victor only then took the phone and left the room. However, he didn’t immediately call Vincent but instead dialed Logan.

Logan seemed to have anticipated Victor’s call, and as soon as the call connected, he gleefully asked: "Is Mr. Grant ready to cooperate with me so soon?"

Victor hesitated slightly before discussing with Logan: "I showed May the video you sent. But she wants to ask Vincent in person, and I’m afraid she might ask some inappropriate questions."

"So what do you plan to do?" Logan asked Victor unhurriedly.

Victor currently had no better idea; if he did, he wouldn’t have reached out to Logan again.

"I’m seeking you because I don’t know what to do, Logan. You sent me this video, and I trust you must have a plan, right?"

Logan laughed, rather smugly telling Victor: "Of course, I have a plan. But I don’t offer free services."

Victor knew Logan wouldn’t offer free help, but what his terms were had to be considered carefully. This guy was no less cunning than Vincent; otherwise, Vincent wouldn’t have such a hard time dealing with him.

"What are your terms!" Victor asked after a brief hesitation.

"What do I want? Nothing more than to secure the position of CEO of the Vance Clan. I think, on this point, we can agree, right? As long as Vincent loses everything, no matter how capable he is, he won’t be able to make waves in front of you."

Pausing, Logan further said to Victor: "Do you know why he’s so eager to hold a shareholders meeting to kick me out of the Vance Clan? It’s to seize power, to have the capability to rival you. As for his ultimate goal, you should be well aware!"

Victor finally felt swayed by Logan’s words, unintentionally sighing, deciding to try a partnership with Logan: "Since we share the same goal, please assist me first. Once I get through this, I’ll help you defeat Vincent."

Logan worried not about Victor breaking promises. In fact, as long as May was alive, as long as she stayed by Victor’s side, Victor would always feel uneasy about Vincent. Sooner or later, they would have this battle.

Thus, the saying "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" was perfectly apt.
