Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 318: Getting the Marriage Certificate
"Uh..." Alright, Victor Grant said you become accomplished through learning from others, I have to agree.
After a flight lasting over ten hours, the jet lag left May Morgan physically and mentally exhausted. As soon as she arrived at the Grant Family estate, she went upstairs to rest without even having a bite to eat.
She slept until three in the afternoon, and when she woke up, Victor Grant was already up, sitting by her side watching her.
For some reason, when she opened her eyes and saw Victor Grant, she felt there was something frightening flickering in his eyes.
This wasn’t the usual Victor Grant. The usual Victor Grant would be very gentle with her, and she could feel this careful tenderness whether it was from his words or his gaze, but the light in Victor’s eyes at the moment was chilling and frightening.
"You’re awake?" Seeing May open her eyes, Victor quickly concealed the hostility in his eyes and stood up from the chair.
"Are you hungry? I’ve asked the staff to prepare some food for you, afraid you might not be used to it, so I specially found a Chinese chef to make it."
Victor reached out to help May up, and when his fingers touched her back, he applied a bit of pressure.
"After you eat, let’s go get the certificate. I see you’re not quite used to France; once we get the certificate, we can head back."
May was shocked and instinctively looked at Victor, "So soon? The procedures are not yet complete, right?"
Victor gave a faint smile, gently touched May’s cheek, a dark light flashing in his eyes, "Fool, I had submitted all the necessary documents long ago, and I’ve already found a witness for the wedding. Next, I just need to take you to the city government to get the certificate."
Victor’s efficiency was so high that it left May in awe, as if he had everything prepared and was just waiting for her to sign and get the certificate. The attention to detail was overwhelming.
"Then let’s go, I’m not hungry anyway."
Feeling dispirited, May didn’t have much desire to struggle anymore. She got up from the bed, put on her coat, and walked out with Victor.
Noticing she didn’t look well, before getting in the car, Victor deliberately asked the staff to prepare some pastries to bring along.
"Eat a little, after we’re done, I’ll take you for a French meal." Knowing May’s spirits were low, Victor quickly coaxed her with sweet words.
May managed a dry smile, then nodded, "Okay."
Things like French meals, though she yearned for it before, now, she really had no appetite at all.
Victor watched her silently for a while, then sighed slightly, signaling the driver to start the car, and personally fed May the pastries.
"You haven’t eaten anything all day, have some, or I’ll feel worried."
May looked up at Victor, gazed into his soulful eyes, and glanced at the pastry by her lips, feeling an ache in her heart, almost crying.
"Victor, I might... not love you as much as you think..."
She felt she wasn’t being fair to Victor and knew it wasn’t right or moral to marry one man while having another in her heart, so she hoped they could both think it over calmly before getting the certificate.
Victor stubbornly turned his face aside, said coldly, "I know, but I don’t care. It’s enough that I love you, as for whether you love me or not, I don’t care."
"Why put yourself through this? You could find a girl who loves you very much, why do you insist on choosing me?"
"Because I love you, I’ve never liked any woman as I do you. I know if I lose you, I’ll never be able to love again, so between loving and being loved, I choose to love. Don’t you understand? May, do you really not understand my feelings for you?"
Victor was so angry he wanted to hit something. At this point, why was May still like this? Just one step away, and she would be his, he couldn’t let this chance slip by!
Thinking of this, Victor quickly suppressed the agitation in his heart, gently reached out his hand, caressing May’s delicate and beautiful face, speaking with a pleading tone, "May, marry me. Whatever Vincent Vance can give you, I, Victor Grant, can give you the same. Whatever you want, even if it’s the stars in the sky or the moon in the water, I can give it to you. As long as you marry me, I promise to love you for a lifetime."
"But I might never love you like I love Vincent. I feel it’s not fair to you, truly." May spoke, looking at Victor with a conflicted expression.
"It’s alright, this is fair enough for me. As long as you marry me, as long as you’re with me, I have no other expectations but for you to never leave me, can you do that?"
Victor looked at May with eyes full of pleading, making her even more conflicted inside. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
She knew Victor would love her for a lifetime and wouldn’t hurt her like Vincent Vance once did. But on this trip to France to get the certificate with Victor, she couldn’t shake off the feeling of being pushed to the gallows, her heart not only didn’t feel any joy, but was filled with inexplicable anxiety.
"Promise me, will you?"
Seeing May not responding or nodding, Victor hurriedly grabbed her hand and suddenly knelt in front of her, face filled with pleading.
May lowered her head, staring at his face for a long time, her lips moved slightly, just about to speak when their car suddenly shook violently, frightening both May and Victor. Because of the strong impact, Victor quickly hugged May’s body, pressing her down to prevent her from being thrown out.
"What happened?" After the driver up front abruptly stopped the car, Victor quickly got up and asked.
"Young Master, it seems there’s a car blocking our way ahead." Looking at the car that had suddenly blocked their path, the driver quickly informed Victor.
Victor tidied himself slightly, straightened up and looked ahead, indeed seeing a black car parked in the middle of the road, seemingly intent on blocking their way forward.
"Damn it, does this kind of thing actually happen?" Victor thought he didn’t have any tough enemies in France, and that the Grant Family’s business there had always been smooth, so suddenly having a car block their way was indeed quite eerie.
"Go down and see what’s happening?" Victor immediately instructed the driver.
Since they weren’t far from the estate, when the driver got out, Victor quickly took out his phone, calling the estate’s security guards to arrive swiftly.
No matter if this was intentional or not, anyway, anyone who stopped Victor Grant from getting the certificate today had already crossed a line, and if he doesn’t teach them a good lesson, he wouldn’t be a Grant.
