Chapter 303: Chapter 303: Arthur Vance Is Dead

The casualties continued, and Jacob Jennings couldn’t stand it any longer. He swiftly aimed the gun at the woman in the black cloak, knowing that it was she who was orchestrating all this chaos.

Yet, when the gun fired, the bullet passed right through the woman’s body, ricocheting off the nearby wall untouched, as if she wasn’t injured at all. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

The woman let out a cold laugh, suddenly lifted her hand like a dried tree branch, and scattered a handful of white powder into the air. Instantly, the air was filled with a cloyingly sweet scent, making anyone who inhaled it want to vomit.

However, those vines, already frantic, grew even more frenzied upon catching a whiff of the scent and rushed aggressively towards Vincent Vance and Jacob Jennings.

Soon, those vines intertwined in the air, forming an inescapable snare within moments.

Vincent Vance looked up at the terrifying vines above him, and to be honest, at that moment, his heart was full of uncertainty.

He thought they were thoroughly prepared, but it turned out they had underestimated the woman. Not only could she control the poisonous insects, but she could manipulate plants as well?

"Young Master, I still have some Fragrant Bone Wood powder with me. Later, I will create a bloody path for you, and you must leave immediately!" Jacob Jennings noticed the situation was dire and swiftly spoke to Vincent Vance.

At that moment, Vincent Vance simply couldn’t leave. Even though Jacob Jennings was his subordinate, the two shared a brotherly bond, and in a life-and-death situation, how could he just abandon him?

"Give me the gun," Vincent Vance said quietly to Jacob Jennings.

Jacob Jennings paused for a moment, then handed over the gun without hesitation, and Vincent Vance immediately pointed it at Logan Vance’s chest.

Logan Vance was caught off guard as the gun was suddenly pointed at him, quickly pulling Arthur Vance beside him to shield his chest. After the shot, Arthur Vance was hit in the chest.

"You... bastard!" Arthur Vance cursed at Logan Vance while clutching his injured chest in pain and anger.

Logan Vance looked disdainfully at the fading Arthur Vance, sneering, "You think you’re unfairly targeted by shielding me? When my father shielded you back then, did anyone wonder if it was unfair to him?"

"Can you really use me as a shield? I trusted you!" Arthur Vance spat out a mouthful of blood, almost infuriated to death by Logan Vance.

"You trust me? Don’t you know your own nature? Was my father willing to shield you, or did you pull him like you pulled me now? Arthur Vance, don’t think I don’t know what you’ve done; this is what you owe me!"

After speaking, Logan Vance kicked Arthur Vance forcefully, sending him sprawling in front of Vincent Vance.

Vincent Vance looked down at his grandfather on the ground, watching his painful expression, and finally crouched down.

Seeing the blood pouring from Arthur Vance’s chest, he quickly tore a piece of cloth from his own body and pressed it against Arthur’s chest to prevent excessive blood loss and death.

Arthur Vance looked at Vincent with a face full of remorse and sighed, "After all I’ve done to you, why are you helping me?"

Vincent gave him a glance and replied with a frown, "You were the one who watched me grow up; saving you is instinctual."

With a helpless sigh, Arthur Vance gripped Vincent’s fingers tightly and shoved something into his palm.

Vincent touched the hard object, uncertain of its nature, but upon sneaking a peek, he saw it was the Dragon-shaped Jade Pendant they had been fighting over.

The Dragon Insect inside the pendant had already been released; what use was it now?

"This thing can seal insects, especially Spirit Insects!" Arthur Vance whispered weakly into Vincent’s ear, "The woman doesn’t have a physical form; with this in hand, she won’t dare approach you."

As Vincent heard this, clarity began to dawn on him; his compassion had indeed saved him.

"I’ve wronged you; I harmed your parents. If it weren’t for me, perhaps they wouldn’t have died. I’m about to die; I hope for forgiveness in my dying moments..."

Arthur Vance, full of remorse, clutched Vincent’s hand tightly and expressed his regrets in Vincent’s ear.

Vincent took a deep breath and finally forgave Arthur Vance, saying, "Rest assured; our accounts are now settled."

"Thank you..."

Arthur Vance managed a faint smile before the hand holding Vincent’s started to slip away slowly.

Vincent looked down at the now-deceased Arthur Vance, feeling neither too much grief nor too much reluctance. The situation simply didn’t allow for such emotions.

He clutched the jade pendant given by Arthur, and as he stood, he suddenly turned towards Logan Vance.

Logan Vance, knowing Vincent had a gun, naturally couldn’t let him go. Thus, as Vincent rose, Logan swiftly withdrew to the safety of the vines’ protective range.

"Vincent Vance, I suggest you stop struggling; you won’t survive today!" Logan sneered, his tone filled with arrogance. "Do you think I didn’t keep track of your every move? I’ve been waiting for this day. Do you know how the vines at Zenith Villa suddenly came alive to attack humans? It’s because I bribed your men and had them implant insects under the vines. With just a word, you and your people are finished!"

"Is that so? Then let’s see if today is your death or my survival!" Vincent smirked coldly while clutching the Dragon-shaped Jade Pendant.

Seeing Vincent not only unfazed but also appearing confident of victory, Logan Vance felt a slight unease.

Convinced he had Vincent cornered, Logan knew there were always exceptions, and caution was key.

"Can you at least tell me why you hate me so much? Is it just for the Vance Family’s fortune?" Vincent stepped closer to Logan, demanding loudly.

Fearing for Vincent’s safety, Jacob Jennings quickly pulled him back, stopping him from advancing further: "Young Master, don’t go near him."

"What I want goes far beyond the money. Once you’re dead, I’ll have your woman captured. Her Dragon Insect can help me accomplish many things!" Logan’s eyes turned sinister as he abruptly shouted to the old woman, "What are you waiting for? Get rid of him, now!"

The old woman, hearing this, spread her hands and began chanting incantations, whispering spells and secret techniques.

Suddenly, those dormant and waiting vines started to violently attack.

Jacob watched a vine thick as an arm darting toward Vincent’s chest. Quickly, he flung some Fragrant Bone Wood powder at it, but the powder had no effect, and the vine continued its lightning-fast stab toward Vincent’s chest.

Vincent also saw the vine targeting him and swiftly sidestepped, avoiding the vine. However, before he could steady himself, another vine attacked rapidly.
