Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 293: Silent Sorrow Greater Than a Broken Heart
Victor Grant was already feeling uneasy; he knew very well that May Morgan wasn’t genuinely intending to marry him, but rather was deliberately trying to provoke Vincent Vance, which is why he was eager to define their relationship as soon as possible.
"Mom, can you just stop meddling with us? Please help me send the necessary documents to the Civil Affairs Bureau, and handle everything there so that when we arrive, we can get the certificate without any hassle. Don’t ask about anything else, don’t interfere, okay?"
Victor was genuinely anxious, so anxious that he wished he could marry May immediately. However, Heather Holt still felt it was inappropriate. She had been in contact with May quite a bit recently, and she knew the girl was straightforward and stubborn. If May didn’t genuinely agree to it now, she would eventually regret it.
Victor could take advantage of May’s impulsiveness now and trick her into getting the marriage certificate, but if she regretted it later, it would be his son who’d suffer.
Besides, marriage should be founded on emotions; that’s the only way it can last a lifetime. If there’s reluctance, the marriage won’t endure.
"Here’s the thing, why don’t you bring May back to Beldon City first, and I’ll have a good talk with her? If she’s genuinely willing to marry you, I’ll make sure your wedding is grand and splendid. How does that sound?" Heather Holt pondered repeatedly and ultimately decided to handle the matter with caution.
Victor was frantic at that moment, not understanding why his mother was still hesitating at such a crucial time. It was obvious that May was angry now and agreed to marry him impulsively. If his mom had a heart-to-heart with her, the opportunity might end up lost.
"Forget it, I won’t ask you for help anymore. Just prepare the documents I need, and I’ll find someone myself to get the certificate." Victor was so exasperated by his mom that he retorted in frustration.
To pacify Victor, Heather just appeased him by saying, "Alright, I’ll prepare the documents for you. Once you’re here, come and pick them up; they’re at the villa I found for May. I’ll be waiting for you there."
Victor originally wanted his mom to send all the papers directly to the Civil Affairs Bureau so that he and May could just go there and get the certificate. But when things got critical, his mom was being extremely uncooperative, which infuriated him further, prompting him to say, "Can’t you just have someone send the documents to the Civil Affairs Bureau for me? Do I really have to come to pick them up? Isn’t this a waste of time?"
However, after sending that message, Heather chose to ignore it, and she hadn’t responded to Victor by the time their car reached Beldon City. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Upon not receiving a response from his mom, Victor instructed the driver to head to the villa Heather mentioned, intending to retrieve the documents from her.
Throughout the journey, May remained frighteningly silent, not uttering a single word during the over two-hour drive. Victor knew she was feeling upset, so he occasionally glanced at her, but seeing her blankly staring out the window, he hesitated to speak and remained silent alongside her until they reached Beldon City.
When getting out of the car, May let out a sudden sigh, and it seemed to drain the last bit of strength within her. Just as her feet touched the ground, her legs buckled, and she collapsed to the ground.
Victor was horrified when he saw May faint in front of him. He quickly scooped her up from the ground and rushed into the villa.
Heather was waiting on the sofa in the living room for her son to bring May back. In front of her were their household registration books and ID cards neatly arranged, just waiting for them to come and finalize everything.
As soon as the villa door opened, Victor dashed straight to the second-floor bedroom with an unconscious May in his arms.
Heather stood up in surprise, glanced over, then rebuked Victor, "Are you out of your mind? May fainted, and you’re not taking her to the hospital? What’s she doing in the bedroom?"
Victor was genuinely scared when May fainted, making him somewhat confused. Heather’s shout brought him back to his senses, and he quickly turned around and headed outside halfway up the stairs.
Heather hurried after him, and with the driver’s help, they clumsily rushed May to the hospital. After a series of tests, the doctor confirmed that May’s fainting was due to exhaustion, but her body wasn’t in serious trouble; she just needed careful recovery.
Despite that, the doctor suggested keeping her at the hospital for observation for a while. The hospital’s advanced equipment would ensure timely treatment should anything happen.
Although May’s condition appeared to be psychological, such ailments can be life-threatening. Poor recovery might lead to physical ailments, and even severe depression. Once someone has depression, life becomes nearly unbearable and very painful.
Heather and Victor discussed, and since the doctor advised so, they decided to have May hospitalized for recuperation. The marriage certificate would likely be postponed once again.
Victor was very frustrated; after all, this was a rare opportunity. Missing this chance meant not knowing when there’d be another. It seemed fate had decreed he and May weren’t destined to be together, and there was nothing he could do about it.
Seeing his son looking so worried, Heather whispered to comfort him, "What’s meant for you won’t run away; what’s not meant for you can’t be forced. Emotions develop gradually, and marriage requires patience. If you’re genuinely good to May, I believe even a stone will be warmed by you over time. I hope you and May can ultimately be together, and I’m eager to have grandchildren. But you can’t force her to marry you unwillingly; you need to make her willingly want to be with you, understand?"
How Victor wished May would willingly marry him, but is that possible? He didn’t consider himself as exceptional as Vincent, nor as charming with women, and he had a lot of past mistakes. He doubted he could genuinely win May’s favor.
If he had known he would fall in love with May, he wouldn’t have acted so excessively before, leaving himself so vulnerable now.
May slept for three days and nights, and when she finally awoke, she saw Victor sitting by her bedside, looking exhausted and stubbly, staring into space.
Seeing May awake, Victor’s worried expression instantly morphed into relief, "May, you’re awake? That’s wonderful."
The doctor had said May’s condition was psychological, and waking up meant she had crossed a major hurdle.
Victor grabbed her hand tightly, momentarily kissed it by his lips, and continuously said to her, "You have no idea, you slept for three whole days. If you hadn’t woken up, I would’ve thought of sleeping with you forever."
