Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 281: That Woman Isn’t Human
"That’s a good idea. I’ll get a few of my guys to keep an eye on Brianna White and when she’s alone, we’ll..."
Victor Grant made a gesture, and May Morgan understood what he meant, so she had no objections. However, she added, "Remember to notify the media when the time comes. I want everyone to know that Vincent Vance’s third wife has been sleeping around again."
The word "again" made Victor Grant almost laugh. "Sure, let him lose face completely. Let’s see if he still dares to marry that woman."
After speaking, Victor Grant pulled out his phone and called a few of his clever subordinates. After giving a round of orders, he waited to watch the drama unfold.
Brianna White usually worked at the company and finished work relatively late, but her schedule was quite predictable. Victor Grant’s subordinates were well-informed, so within minutes, they had a handle on her basic movements. They made some minor arrangements and waited to catch her on the way back to her apartment.
After returning with Victor Grant, it was already late evening. The two had a little dinner. May Morgan felt very tired and went to the room to rest first. Around eleven at night, she felt a bit hungry. As she went outside to find something to eat, she suddenly heard Victor Grant exclaim in surprise from the corridor: "What? Several are dead?"
Upon hearing about deaths, May Morgan was momentarily stunned. Her instincts told her it involved Victor Grant’s subordinates, who were sent to harass Brianna White. After all, there was only that major event tonight.
But who is this Brianna White, and how did it lead to death?
She also overheard Victor Grant angrily questioning his subordinate: "What are you doing? You can’t even handle one woman?"
May Morgan edged closer to listen more carefully and heard Victor Grant’s subordinate stammering as he explained: "We didn’t expect this to happen, boss. That woman Brianna White must be toxic; as soon as our guys tried to jump her, they all bled to death instantly. If I hadn’t run fast, I’d probably be dead too."
Victor Grant felt his subordinates were incompetent, and what they said sounded too strange. He angrily lashed out: "You’re just incompetent and making up ghost stories, huh? I’ve seen Brianna White before. If she were as terrifying as you say, wouldn’t I be dead several times over?"
"Boss, I’m telling the truth. If you don’t believe me, have the police do an autopsy tomorrow. They all died in a really horrible way; I was so scared my legs went weak."
Thinking it over irritably, Victor Grant asked: "Where are you now? I’ll come to see you."
The guy had driven straight away from the scene, terrified by what he saw. Now he was hiding in a busy place, afraid the ghostly Brianna White might come looking for him.
"Boss, I’m staying at our club now. There’s someone protecting me here, so it’s a bit better. I don’t dare go out, afraid that woman will find me."
"Look at you, such a coward. Wait for me. I’ll come over." Victor Grant cursed a few times angrily and hung up, planning to head out.
Seeing this, May Morgan hurried over and blocked his way: "Did your subordinates run into trouble?"
Victor Grant didn’t believe in ghosts, but the situation was too bizarre. Even if his subordinates were just making things up, the idea that Brianna White could take on three men and kill them instantly was terrifying.
"No, um, another group of my guys got into a fight. I’m going to check it out." Victor Grant quickly lied, fearing May Morgan would continue to pester about it.
Not wanting to beat around the bush, May directly said: "I have good hearing. I heard everything your subordinate said to you without missing a word. Three of your guys were killed by Brianna White, weren’t they?"
Seeing there was no way to avoid it, Victor Grant had no choice but to advise May Morgan: "I’ll investigate this, so don’t get involved. Go back to bed."
"No, I’m going. Take me to see your surviving subordinate. I have questions for him."
Ignoring Victor Grant’s advice, May insisted, prompting Victor Grant to look at her with a complex expression and say, somewhat displeased: "Why do you have to get involved in this? Even if it’s true that Brianna White killed my men, what can you do?"
Feeling a bit ashamed under Victor Grant’s gaze, May lowered her head and explained: "I just think your subordinates got into trouble because they were helping me, so I want to take a look, see who this Brianna White really is."
Victor Grant actually understood why May was eager to investigate the matter. However, he dared not ask directly in front of her, fearing she would be unhappy.
After hesitating for a long time, Victor Grant finally sighed helplessly: "You can come with me if you want, but there’s one condition: don’t interfere. Just ask questions, don’t speak, don’t get involved. No matter if Brianna White is a person or a ghost, tomorrow morning you must go back to Beldon City for school and promise never to come back, okay?"
Victor Grant’s demands were a bit harsh, but May reluctantly agreed to go with him, so she conceded: "Fine, I’ll just come along for a look, won’t ask, won’t meddle, okay?"
Seeing May nod in agreement, Victor Grant was relieved and, to ensure safety, deliberately took a gun from the basement of the villa when he got into the car.
Though the gun wouldn’t work against ghosts, Victor Grant believed he could handle ordinary violent incidents on his own.
Victor Grant’s surviving subordinate, terrified, was hiding in an obvious club owned by Victor Grant, with two strong bodyguards deliberately placed at the entrance for protection, clearly showing how frightened he was.
When Victor Grant and May walked in, the subordinate was drinking to muster courage. Seeing Victor arrive, he forced himself to stand up from the sofa: "Boss, you’re here?"
Victor Grant looked him over; his clothes were intact, but his face was a bit swollen from being scratched by something, though it wasn’t a big issue.
"Tell me, what exactly happened?" Victor Grant asked after seating May on the sofa, then turned to inquire.
The man, a quick thinker, was eager to please and immediately addressed May as "sis-in-law."
The term "sis-in-law" stunned both May and Victor Grant, but Victor quickly reacted by punching the subordinate’s face: "Don’t call her that, or I’ll cut your tongue out."
