Chapter 259: Chapter 259: The Revenge Begins

May Morgan couldn’t convince Miller, so she shook her head and didn’t want to mention it anymore: "He and I just don’t have that connection, we’re destined to walk different paths."

"Are you upset that Victor Grant was too much of a playboy before? Ah, the young master used to be quite pure, apart from Miss Melanie Morgan, his fiancée, he didn’t have any rumors about other girlfriends. But what happened in the end? There’s Adam Owens too. He swore he’d be good to you, but didn’t he end up having a baby with Miss Maxwell Vance and even got married? Men, if you think about it, are just that. A reformed player doesn’t have true feelings, and those who are ’pure’ aren’t all faithful."

These words touched May’s sorrow. Miller saw May’s head down, with her eyes suddenly a bit red, and quickly stopped mentioning Victor Grant: ’Miss Morgan, I’m sorry, I overstepped. I won’t bring it up again, okay? Please don’t be sad.’

Miller, feeling a bit helpless, pulled out some tissues, hoping to help May wipe her tears. May accepted the tissues but wanted to be alone for a while: ’Miller, please leave. I want to sleep for a bit.’

Miller stood up from the chair, somewhat awkwardly, and said repeatedly: ’Okay, okay, I’ll just be at the door. Call me if you need anything.’

As Miller was leaving, she tucked in the quilt corners for May, then turned and left. Upon reaching the door, she noticed a figure in the corridor, smoking. Without looking, she knew it was Victor Grant.

The conversation between Miller and May had inadvertently been overheard by Victor Grant at the doorway, mostly. So, when May said, "No connection," he felt particularly sad.

He wasn’t afraid of May disliking him for being vulgar, nor was he afraid of her disliking his bad temper, but he was terrified if May said: ’No connection.’

Bad temper can be changed, bad habits can be gradually corrected, which isn’t difficult to do at once. But if she said she just didn’t fancy him, how could he adjust? Transform into what she liked?

"Mr. Grant, aren’t you going to see Miss Morgan?" Knowing Victor Grant was standing in the corridor, intending to see May, Miller quickly said, fawningly.

Victor Grant, feeling melancholic, glanced at Miller and casually threw the cigarette he was holding into the nearby trash can.

"Isn’t she asleep? I won’t go in."

Miller knew that Victor Grant had heard her and May’s conversation. Seeing Victor Grant’s face full of depression, she carefully advised: ’Mr. Grant, don’t rush. Miss Morgan has just come out of a relationship; it’s not easy for her to accept another one so soon.’

"I know..." Victor Grant bitterly laughed, his head down, looking particularly desolate: "If I can wait, I’ll wait as long as I have to, but I’m just afraid I can’t win her true heart."

Miller looked at Victor Grant’s face and smiled, asking a particularly serious question: "If it’s clear she won’t come around, Mr. Grant, will you give up?"

"No, no, no, I’ll still wait. I don’t want to withdraw."

Victor Grant quickly gestured with his hands when he heard this, suddenly realizing that, yes, if May explicitly told him to stop waiting, she would never like him, would he give up now?

Obviously, he wouldn’t, because he couldn’t bear to!

"Thanks, Miller." Victor found clarity on his own. He suddenly smiled and thanked Miller before cheerfully heading downstairs to check on the bird’s nest soup being brewed for May.

Once the exquisite bird’s nest soup was ready, Victor Grant personally brought it upstairs. Seeing it was him delivering the soup again, May was particularly embarrassed and got up from bed to feed herself.

Victor Grant observed and promptly extended his hand to press May back into bed: "Don’t move, let me feed you."

May awkwardly said: ’If you feed me, I won’t eat.’

Knowing May was serious, Victor didn’t insist and avoided further embarrassment for both of them. However, while May was eating the soup on her own, he didn’t immediately leave, intending to discuss something with her. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Should I go help you find a lawyer this afternoon?" Victor asked cautiously.

May’s motion of eating soup paused slightly before she spoke again: "Why bother with a lawyer? I don’t want his stuff. Just print a divorce agreement saying I’m leaving for good and send it over."

Victor scratched his head, looking uncertainly at May and asked: "You really don’t want any of his stuff? I think that’s too easy on him."

"No, since the feelings are gone, taking his stuff would only add to the sadness. I’m healthy and able, don’t want his things," May stubbornly said again.

"Alright then, I’ll have someone draft a divorce agreement and send it over. You wait." Since May had spoken, Victor had no reason to delay, so he promptly went out to get a simple divorce agreement printed, specifying May’s clean break, and brought it back for May to approve.

May didn’t look closely, grabbed a ballpoint pen, and signed her name readily. Victor saw her decisive action and, feeling a bit uneasy, asked again: "Have you really thought it through?"

"Yes, the sooner the divorce, the sooner we have no relation. What’s left is what he owes me."

Thinking of the pain inflicted on her by Brianna White and Maxwell Vance, May never considered letting it go with this matter. It’s good to have cleared things with Vincent Vance; she didn’t want his possessions, so when she dealt with his woman and sister in the future, he would have no words to say.

Victor noticed there was more to May’s words, and couldn’t help but worryingly ask: ’Do you have any unfulfilled wishes?’

May looked up at him, not intending to hide: "My child was lost for no reason, do you think I can swallow this?"

Victor felt May was right; no one could swallow this unfair treatment when their child is lost for no reason. Vincent was fine; the child wasn’t in his belly, at most, he merely contributed a sperm. But it was different for May; the child had been growing inside her day by day, a bond had formed but was lost due to that wretch Maxwell. Anyone would be unable to swallow this indignation.

To this day, Victor still remembers accompanying May for prenatal checks and seeing that miraculous little being at the hospital. Although he knew the child wasn’t his, upon seeing the child for the first time, his heart beat very heavily, marveling at the creator’s wonders.

Perhaps because she was the woman he loved, he liked even the child she carried under ’love me, love my dog’ logic.

"I know you can’t swallow this, but you don’t have to handle it, I’ll deal with it for you." Victor said, with a trace of wickedness in his smile. To ruin a woman, myriad ways exist, surely enough to make Maxwell’s life a living hell.

"No need, I’ll avenge my own grudges." May didn’t nod but said resolutely.
