Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 251: Only Seeking Complete Liberation
Everyone looked at the pot of burnt porridge, staring at each other, "Boss, we’re really not cut out for making porridge, why don’t you order some from the porridge shop outside?"
Victor Grant always thought the porridge outside wasn’t safe, which is why he had someone make porridge for May Morgan. But now it seems ordering is the only option.
"Alright, alright, a bunch of idiots, get out of here!" Victor Grant impatiently pushed all his subordinates out of the villa.
The subordinates, none too serious, intentionally whispered to Victor Grant as they left, "Boss, it’s a beautiful night, we won’t disturb your peace."
Victor Grant, with a dark expression, punched the chattering subordinate in the face: ’Beautiful night, my ass. Do I look like that kind of person to you?’
Not to mention May Morgan just had a miscarriage and is weak; even if she were healthy, Victor Grant wouldn’t take advantage of her. He wasn’t someone who disrespects women like that.
That subordinate looked at Victor Grant with a grievance, seeing his righteous face, he couldn’t help but mutter: ’You sound like a gentleman. Haven’t you messed around with those eighteen-year-old girls before?’
"Are you looking for a beating?" Victor was reminded of his unsavory past, something he’s quite ashamed of now. Although those young girls chose to be with him willingly, it wasn’t exactly an honorable thing to brag about. Plus, he genuinely cared for May Morgan.
"I’ll warn you, if you dare to spread my past dirty deeds, I’ll bash your heads in, got it?"
As his subordinates were leaving, Victor Grant sternly warned them again.
Seeing Victor Grant like this, the subordinates understood he must be genuinely in love. Otherwise, why would he care about past scandals?
Sometimes, feelings are indeed strange. Before knowing May Morgan, Victor Grant didn’t know women were to be cherished. But after meeting her, he picked up those skills naturally, even comparable to what Vincent Vance would do back then.
Finally getting rid of those useless subordinates, Victor Grant quickly called and ordered takeout, specifically requesting health porridge to help a postpartum woman recover.
After the call, Victor Grant awkwardly went upstairs to explain things to May Morgan. May Morgan suddenly thought of Miller and suggested hiring her as a housekeeper. Miller was diligent, but her salary was a bit steep.
Since Miller had helped May Morgan in the past, she trusted her. When it came to salary, she mentioned to Victor Grant the wage Miller earned at Zenith Villa, and to her surprise, Victor agreed immediately without batting an eye when he heard it was ten thousand a month.
"As long as you’re happy, ten thousand or even twenty thousand is no big deal." Victor really didn’t care about money. Previously, he didn’t want to hire help mainly because of his profession. Sometimes he needed to bring his subordinates back to the villa to gather; these were people either involved in fights or hospitalized from wounds. Leaving a maid at home might scare them off.
Besides, he rarely visited this villa and simply hired a part-time cleaner for daily cleaning.
But now that he brought May Morgan from Zenith Villa, hiring a housekeeper was necessary. And since May had someone in mind already, it was just perfect.
May Morgan appreciated everything Victor Grant did for her, but she never planned on being in his debt for too long. After all, being alone with him could slowly evolve a debt into a complicated emotional entanglement, which is troublesome.
"Thank you. Once I recover a bit, I’ll get a job outside and pay back what I owe you," May Morgan earnestly said to Victor Grant.
Victor Grant didn’t like hearing that. Was it really necessary to split everything so clearly? It was really dull, honestly.
"You haven’t even graduated from college, have you? With the way you are, no one would even hire you to hand out flyers on the street. Just drop it. It’s not like I need your money." Victor Grant said, a bit annoyed, waving his hand dismissively. Then he stood up from the chair, grumpily looking at May Morgan: ’Do you split things as clearly with Vincent Vance? Or is it just with me you make it so deliberate?’
"I never took anything from Vincent except the wedding ring while we were together, and now I’ve returned everything." May Morgan sighed, feeling particularly distressed thinking about her past with Vincent Vance.
She couldn’t deny that being with Vincent brought her happiness. It was unprecedented, a joy that even Adam Owens never provided her. But such happiness was ultimately short-lived, only sustained by his interest in her. Unfortunately, the bloom was too brief; it had been just a few months since marriage, and already his heart was no longer hers.
Maybe, just like Maxwell Vance cursed, Vincent married her and treated her well only because of that Jade Pendant. Now that the pendant is destroyed, she was of no real use to him, and naturally, he had no emotional investment left.
Moreover, now with the Dragon Insect inside of her, not dying nor living, who wouldn’t find it disgusting or terrifying?
"I say you’re being too high-minded. That scumbag treated you like that, you should sue him and claim what you deserve." Victor Grant didn’t covet Vincent’s things but felt indignant for May Morgan.
May, however, had her own stubbornness. Once love was gone, what’s the point of stuff? File a lawsuit? After much entanglement, often, it’s the one most emotionally involved who gets hurt the most.
"It’s pointless now. I just want to sever all ties with him completely. Leaving with nothing means leaving with nothing. He can marry whomever he likes; it has nothing to do with me anymore."
May Morgan sighed slightly, suddenly becoming a little irritated, she turned around, presenting her back to Victor Grant.
"I’m a bit tired, want to sleep."
She was hinting at Victor Grant to leave. He was not someone who couldn’t take a hint, but looking at her slender and fragile back, he suddenly felt a pang in his heart.
No woman has ever made him feel so compelled to protect her, but May, she made his heart ache just in an instant.
This girl, it’s inexplicable how he just wants to be good to her, wants to hold her tight, to cherish and treat her tenderly.
Victor Grant boldly placed his hand gently on May Morgan’s waist, which seemed like it would shatter with a slight squeeze, his voice tender as if it wasn’t coming from his own throat: ’May, I’ll protect you from now on. Will you be my girlfriend?’
He didn’t dare directly ask her to be his woman because he felt saying it that way was insincere and disrespectful.
