Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 219: Get Down and Take Your Beating
May woke up and didn’t see Vincent on the other side of the bed. She felt strange and got up to search for him everywhere, but even after scouring the large Zenith Villa, she didn’t catch a glimpse of him.
This late at night, unless something major happened, Vincent wouldn’t go out this late and not tell her.
May’s intuition told her that something major had happened to her sister Melanie.
Worried about Vincent, May hugged a pillow, sat on the living room sofa, and quietly waited for him to return. She waited for over two hours before hearing the sound of a car driving into the villa.
She knew it was Vincent coming back because she clearly heard the security guard politely say, "Eldest Master."
Maybe it was because of the quiet night, or perhaps May’s hearing had become extraordinarily sharp, but she could clearly hear the conversation between the guard and Vincent.
Vincent hurriedly pushed open the door and was surprised to see May sitting on the sofa with a pillow, staring blankly at the entrance.
"You, why haven’t you slept yet?" Vincent asked, looking at the girl on the sofa in surprise, and then asked softly after a while.
May turned her head to look at his travel-worn appearance, stood up, and quickly asked him, "Why did you go out so late? Can’t you at least tell me when you go out?"
"I... something happened with Maxwell, so I went to check it out," Vincent lied, fearing that talking about Melanie’s death at midnight would scare May.
May scrutinized Vincent from top to bottom and side to side, making him feel quite uneasy: "Why are you staring at me like that? You must be tired, let me carry you upstairs to rest."
Vincent hurried over to pick May up from the sofa, planning to take her upstairs to sleep.
May wrapped her arms around Vincent’s neck and kept her puzzled eyes fixed on his face: "Did something happen to my sister?"
As soon as May said this, Vincent’s hand immediately froze. Though it was a minor reaction, May could still sense it. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Before Vincent could speak, May deliberately said to him, "You’ve nearly dealt with the matter regarding Maxwell during the day, why run off late at night? Speaking of my sister, if she didn’t have an accident she should still be on the way to Crestwood, right? So for you, Eldest Vance, to rush out at night, it must be something big, right?"
Vincent awkwardly laughed and didn’t know what to say. Once a woman becomes curious, she can’t be fooled—she can pick up on every little clue. His wife is so talented; it’s a pity she hasn’t become Detective Conan.
"Don’t laugh. Just tell me if my analysis is correct?" May asked with a stern expression, looking up at Vincent and urging him to speak.
"Alright then, since you want to know, I’ll tell you. Your sister had a car accident in the outskirts of Silverwood City, near the freeway. I went there with Jacob to check, others were fine, but she died on the spot."
"Dead?" Hearing the news of Melanie’s sudden death, May was also shocked, her eyes widened, and she was speechless.
Melanie is dead? Did she really just die like that?
But why does this news feel so unreal to her?
"You’re not fooling me, right? Did she really die on the spot?" May asked Vincent, raising her head to question him urgently.
Vincent gave her a look, somewhat displeased: "Do I have a reason to lie to you? You don’t believe me? If not, I can take you to the station tomorrow to see her body."
Vincent was joking with May; taking her to see the body? He may lose his wife and son; with Melanie’s death being so tragic, what if she gets scared?
"Alright, then tomorrow. Promise me, no going back!" May responded energetically, even attempting to make a hand-clap vow with Vincent.
Vincent ignored her, kicked open the bedroom door, and tossed her back onto the bed: "Lie down properly for me now, I’m going for a shower to wash off the bad luck first."
After saying this, he turned and went to shower. While he was showering, his phone suddenly began to ring. May quickly ran over to take a look and found it was a call from Jacob.
Too curious about the sudden news of Melanie’s death, May decided on her own to swipe open Vincent’s phone and listen in.
Thinking Vincent answered, Jacob spoke up: "Eldest Master, our people found the unconscious Melody White near the forest. She has been sent to a nearby hospital by medical staff, and she seems fine, just temporarily unconscious. Is there anything else you need to instruct?"
May hesitated for a moment, then couldn’t help but ask Jacob, "Jacob, is Melanie really dead?"
Jacob was stunned, not expecting May to answer the call, and immediately responded somewhat speechlessly, "Young Madam, how could you answer the Eldest Master’s phone? If he finds out, he’ll be upset."
May embarrassedly laughed a little and explained to Jacob, "Well, I saw it was you calling, so I answered. By the way, did my sister really die on the spot?"
Jacob thought that since May had asked, Vincent must have already told her about Melanie’s death. Since she knew, there was nothing to hide.
"Yes, she died. By the time Eldest Master and I got to the scene, Melanie had completely died. She’s currently taken by the forensic department for an autopsy."
"Has the cause of death been determined?" May asked anxiously.
Jacob shook his head and answered honestly: "Currently, it’s unclear. The preliminary judgment is that she died of asphyxiation, but to know the exact details, we’ll have to wait for the examination results."
"Then... which police station is she at now?" May’s eyes shifted as she took the opportunity to ask.
Before Jacob could answer, the phone in May’s hand was suddenly snatched away. May turned to see that it was Vincent now out of the shower.
"Who told you to use my phone to call Jacob? What do you mean by this, don’t you trust me?" Vincent took his phone back, his face stern as he questioned May.
Knowing she was in the wrong, May awkwardly stuck out her tongue and said pleasantly: "No husband, it was Jacob calling, and since you hadn’t finished showering, I answered in case it was urgent."
Vincent glared at the fibbing May, then sharply flicked her on the forehead, causing May to clutch her head and complain: "Why did you do that?"
"Giving you a lesson for lying to me!" Vincent snorted and pointed to the bed, commanding May, "Go lie on the bed properly!"
May looked at Vincent in confusion, lie down? Lie down for what?
