Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 198: You’re Just an Ancestor
May Morgan moved her lips slightly and quickly declined without revealing her feelings, "No way, I can’t afford a bowl of noodles that costs ten million..."
Victor Grant glanced at May Morgan speechlessly, placed the small bowl of divided noodles on the table beside them, and pulled her to sit down, "Eat up!"
May didn’t actually lack the means to eat; she just didn’t want to or dare to. She knew her own skill level very well.
"It’s too hot for me; you eat first, and I’ll eat later!" May sat awkwardly facing Victor, trying to be polite.
Victor looked at her, didn’t say anything, picked up the chopsticks, and started eating in big mouthfuls.
Seeing him enjoying the food, May couldn’t help but curiously ask, "How does it taste?"
Victor took another big bite and then said to May, "Not bad, worth the ten million."
"Really?" Hearing him praise her like that, May felt a bit floating on air, as her cooking usually wasn’t great. Had she outdone herself this time?
"Is it really? You’ll know if you try it yourself," Victor tapped the bowl with his chopsticks, signaling to May.
Curious, May picked up the chopsticks, grabbed a mouthful, and put it in her mouth, then immediately spat it all out with a "Wow."
"This is way too salty, isn’t it?" May couldn’t help but complain to herself.
Victor burst out laughing, then with a triumphant look, pushed the big bowl in front of him forward with a hum, "You know it’s bad, huh? And you wanted ten million for this craftsmanship?"
Seeing him trying to play tricks, May was so angry that she tossed the chopsticks onto the table and confronted him, "But you said, even if it’s like crap, you’d eat it!"
"I didn’t expect you could actually make it taste like crap, damn!" Victor was on the verge of collapse, having never eaten such terrible noodles in his life; calling it crap was an injustice to crap!
May, knowing she was at fault, stood up to clean the battlefield, "Alright then, I won’t charge you; this bowl of noodles is compensation for accompanying me to the hospital. You can ask my husband for however much you deserve."
"I do need to ask your husband for money, or with his petty mindset, if I suddenly don’t ask for the money, who knows what he’d suspect us of doing." Victor stood up from his chair wordlessly, grabbed a bottle of mineral water from the fridge, and gulped down almost half a bottle to alleviate the aftereffects of the salty noodles.
"My husband isn’t that stingy!" May didn’t like Victor always badmouthing her man. No matter what Vincent was like, he was still her man, and she had to defend him.
"Fine, fine, every time I say your husband’s no good, you defend him, not happy to hear it. I won’t say it anymore."
Victor tossed a drink bottle to May, who had it in hand and was about to open it when she suddenly remembered Vincent’s warning and quickly put the drink on the table.
"My husband doesn’t let me drink these drinks, saying they have additives and are bad for the child."
"Then what do you drink?" Victor rolled his eyes, grabbed another bottle of mineral water from the fridge, and was about to toss it to her when he reconsidered and put it back.
Forget it, with cold water, this pregnant lady probably can’t drink it, right?
Seeing Victor turn and head to the kitchen, May followed him curiously to see what he was up to, only to see Victor fetching a kettle and starting to boil water.
"Why are you boiling hot water?"
Victor turned and glared at May, "For you to drink! Your husband has spoiled you with bad habits; if I don’t give you hot water and your stomach hurts, how will I deal with it?"
Victor was grumbling to himself while watching the hot water kettle: "I’ve never served anyone in my whole life, you’re the first."
May awkwardly said to Victor, "Shouldn’t you just take me back? I feel like I’m troubling you here."
"Wait, at least drink this kettle of water before leaving." Victor knocked on the kettle firmly, insisting.
Knowing his bad temper, May didn’t dare oppose him too much, turning to sit on a stool nearby, waiting for the water to boil.
Feeling impatient, Victor went outside, took out his phone, and ordered some dishes from the Imperial Garden.
While ordering, he specifically inquired if there were any dishes suitable for pregnant women, and based on their recommendations, he ordered several dishes specially for May.
May just sat in the kitchen, feeling a bit touched listening to Victor ordering from the Imperial Garden outside.
"You must be hungry too? I ordered a few dishes, let’s eat together before you go back." Victor said, hanging up the phone and walking back into the kitchen to talk to May.
May nodded without speaking. Victor felt bored, looked at the big sea outside, and then suggested to May, "After eating, I’ll take you fishing?"
"No need, I need to go back, or Vincent will find out I snuck out." May scratched her head irritably, sighed helplessly, and laid her small head on the table.
This trip was just to check if the child was healthy, but she left empty-handed and almost exposed herself,
Victor noticed the frustration on May’s face and slightly leaned over, whispering to her, "Why don’t I arrange for a friend to get you an appointment, and then we’ll take you for a check-up?"
"Check what?" May looked at Victor in a daze, confused.
"The child, of course! Haven’t you been worried about the child in your belly? I can take you to see more professional doctors." Victor assured May, "I know people in many hospitals, you can have any kind of check-up you want. If you agree, I’ll call now?"
"No need, there’s not enough time anyway, and it’s so early, we might not even see anything."
"I’ll just ask and see if it’s possible!" Victor said, seriously taking his phone and stepping aside to make a call.
After a while, he returned with the phone in hand, and discussed with May, "I’ve inquired; there are hospitals that can observe the development of a child at over a month old, but it requires particularly advanced technology and equipment. I don’t know many people in Silverwood City; you can go to Beldon City, where my father has a private hospital with such technology and staff, and they can see you now."
"Your... your father?"
Upon hearing Victor mention his father, May was visibly stunned, as she always thought Victor was someone without family.
