Chapter 178: Chapter 178: I’ll Handle Her

Talking about the child, Vincent Vance suddenly put down the bowl in his hand, reached out and touched May Morgan’s belly, and suggested, "The child is more than a month old now, right? I don’t have much to do tomorrow, so how about I take you to the hospital for a prenatal check-up?"

"Sure, sure!" May Morgan had long wanted to go for a check-up, worried that she was carrying a monster.

But then she thought, what if during the check-up, the doctor found out she wasn’t carrying a human, and if Vincent knew, would he...

"Hey, I saw Melody White at the mall today. She was buying a lot of clothes. Thinking about my dad ending up like that while she lives so carefreely made me very upset, so I slapped her a few times."

Trying to shift Vincent’s attention, May quickly recounted her encounter with Melody White at the mall.

Vincent didn’t have a good impression of Melody White either, and said nonchalantly, "If you slapped her, you slapped her. Someone like her should have been slapped long ago. She used to bully you all the time, after all."

"It’s not really about personal vendetta; it’s mostly because she has wronged my dad. You see how my dad is now, and she’s out buying such fancy clothes. I even saw 10 cm high heels in her shopping, isn’t she afraid of twisting her ankle wearing heels that high?"

May deliberately hinted at Vincent at first, but he didn’t seem to catch on as all his thoughts were on May herself.

"She’s indeed too old to be wearing such high heels, but if she twists her ankle, she deserves it. Let’s not talk about her anymore. If you’re worried she’ll cause you trouble, I’ll send someone to warn her."

As Vincent piled food onto May’s plate, he gestured for chatty May to start eating, "Hurry up and eat; the food is getting cold."

May looked at Vincent, feeling her hint wasn’t working, and decided to be direct, "I had the family bodyguard go to the Morgan Family earlier, and guess what he saw?"

Vincent looked up at her indifferently and asked flatly, "What did he see?"

"The bodyguard said he seemed to have seen Melanie Morgan at the house."

"Hmm?"

This finally caught Vincent’s attention. He put down his chopsticks and stared seriously at May, "Don’t joke with me. Melanie is already dead."

"Did you see her die with your own eyes, or are you just assuming she’s dead?" May leaned in and earnestly asked Vincent.

"Well..." Vincent couldn’t help but be questioned. At the time, it seemed like an emergency, and Melanie was missing under those circumstances, so she was probably dead. But if you really investigate, her body was never found.

If she was eaten by the Poisonous Insect, there should be remains, right? But Director Lawson hasn’t given any confirmation of her death yet.

Could it be...

"Which bodyguard told you Melanie is back?" Vincent thought this was a major discovery. If Melanie wasn’t dead, how did she escape in such a situation? Was it because she knew that old woman, and the latter let her go?

If so, wouldn’t that old woman be a new lead?

Seeing Vincent take a keen interest in Melanie’s sudden appearance, May excitedly replied, "It was one of the two bodyguards who brought me back earlier. It seemed weird that Melody White was buying such flashy clothes, and those heels, only my sister would wear. I’ve never seen Melody White wear those high heels. So, on your behalf, I sent some pastries to the Morgan Family, and that’s when the bodyguard told me he saw Melanie there."

"I see..." Vincent pondered quietly, then pretended indifferently to smile at May and urged her to eat again, "If she’s back, then she’s back. I’ll go find her later; you just eat."

How could May have any appetite to eat? If Melanie returned, it means she must have connections over there; otherwise, how could she have come back unharmed? And if she has connections, who could they be?

"After dinner, could you take me to the Morgan Family? I want to personally verify if my sister is really back?" May put down her chopsticks and earnestly asked Vincent.

Vincent naturally wouldn’t take her. If Melanie had indeed returned safely, who knows what kind of harmful toxins she might be carrying on her. Better safe than sorry.

"You eat first, I’ll think of something later," Vincent appeased May intentionally.

Feeling dissatisfied, May kept trying to persuade Vincent, "I’ll just take a look; I won’t even get out of the car. Can I at least see if Melanie is really back?"

"What can you do by going? I’ll handle it. You’re pregnant, movements are inconvenient, just stay at home and don’t make it harder for me, alright?" May persistently implored Vincent, which irritated him and made him raise his voice a bit.

May didn’t want to argue with Vincent, especially as they’ve been bickering non-stop lately, even over little things. Seeing Vincent’s firm stance, she decided not to argue this time.

"Alright, I won’t go then." Feeling extremely wronged, May hugged her bowl and started eating, saying nothing.

Realizing he was harsh, Vincent sighed helplessly and coaxed softly, "May, I know your grievance against your sister and your attachment to your grandma’s death. Don’t worry, your grandma is my grandma too; I won’t let the murderer go unpunished. I’ll take someone there later, and if your sister has returned secretly, I promise to catch her for you, okay?"

May kept her head down, eating her rice sullenly, ignoring Vincent entirely, looking pitiful like a child, which made her even more endearing.

Vincent’s heart softened immediately. He quickly moved closer to coax and persuade her, "May, it’s not that I don’t want you to go, but with your pregnancy, we have to think about our child. You can’t be reckless. Besides, I can handle this myself, why do you need to go personally?"

"You can handle it? If that were true, Melanie wouldn’t have escaped time and again," May couldn’t help but chide Vincent.

Embarrassed, Vincent vowed to May, "This time she won’t. If she dares come back, I’ll be the first to catch her and hand her over to the police. I won’t be lenient, okay?"

"I won’t go, but you have to record everything on video. I want to watch you catch Melanie, otherwise, I’m afraid you might go easy on her!"
