{Chapter: 236 Interesting Things}

"Well, if the Goddess of Death could do it... then why can't I?"

William muttered with a faint smirk, clenching his fist as he looked up at the sky. Thunder crackled above.

From the heavens, Mjölnir came screaming downward—spinning with terrifying speed, wrapped in a storm of divine lightning. The legendary hammer streaked toward William like a divine judgment, its impact destined to crush anything in its path.

But William didn't dodge.

He stepped forward instead, eyes narrowing, energy coursing through his veins.

Boom!

Flesh met god-forged metal.

The moment William's fist collided with Mjölnir mid-air, a deafening explosion erupted. It was like a meteor had struck the earth. A violent shockwave rippled outward in all directions, flattening everything in its radius. Cracks split the earth beneath his feet, and clouds of dust exploded skyward like a volcanic eruption.

Lightning danced wildly across William's arm, scorching his skin. The force was immense—like holding a thunderstorm in his hand. His boots slid across the cracked ground as he braced himself, gritting his teeth through the pain.

"Ahhhh—!" William let out a guttural roar, muscles straining, bones creaking as he held it aloft, refusing to yield.

From the skies, Thor descended with fury.

"It's useless!" the God of Thunder bellowed, both hands grasping Mjölnir now as he pushed downward with godlike might.

BOOM!

The earth screamed in protest. Layers of soil cracked and shattered, collapsing in concentric circles around the two figures. A shockwave of dust and debris exploded into the air as the sheer force of impact drove the ground downwards, carving a massive pit into the battlefield.

When the dust finally began to settle, William remained standing at the center of the crater. Blood ran from the corner of his mouth, but his eyes glinted with something far stronger than pain—amusement.

He wiped the blood away with the back of his hand and looked up with a grin.

"Very strong power... Quite interesting."

Hovering above, Thor pointed Mjölnir at him, his expression grim.

"William, return the power of Thor that you've stolen. Do that, and I'll spare your life."

William slowly tilted his head, eyes locked on the god.

"You believe you're in a position to decide whether I live or die?" His voice dropped, calm but laced with disdain. "Are you absolutely certain you have that kind of power?"

As his words fell, his pupils shifted—three spiraling blades of wind ignited in each eye, spinning with eerie precision. The moment they turned, a powerful psychic force blasted outward.

"Arghhh!"

Thor cried out as the telekinetic bombardment struck him like a sledgehammer to the body. He flew backwards, crashing through a massive stone pillar, his body rolling several times across the broken terrain before coming to a stop amid the rubble.

William floated into the air, slowly rising above the battlefield. Between his palms, flames erupted. The fire gathered rapidly, drawn in like a living force answering its master's call.

Within seconds, a massive sphere of fire—five meters wide—blazed between his hands like a newborn star.

From the distance, Fandral crawled from beneath a collapsed wall, his voice hoarse with disbelief.

"Such firepower... That fire is beyond natural. Is this man really just human?"

Darcy, gripping her torn jacket, shouted, her eyes wide with fear.

"Now I get it! This... this is why the world fears him. William isn't human—he's something else!"

Pepper's voice came like a cold wind, heavy with contempt.

"He's not a god. He's not a man. He's a scum—a walking disaster."

But Jane... Jane's eyes gleamed.

"To stand against a god like this... to match him in raw force..." She whispered, almost breathless. "It's terrifying... but it's also incredible."

On the battlefield, Thor groaned and slowly pulled himself from the wreckage. Blood trickled down his brow, but his spirit had not broken. His pride, however, was clearly wounded.

With a growl of defiance, he raised Mjölnir once again. Lightning surged into the heavens and back down into the hammer, dancing wildly around his body. The storm had returned.

High above, William didn't flinch. He simply extended his hands—and let the sun he had birthed go.

FWOOM!

The massive fireball roared forward, hurling itself toward Thor like the judgment of a fiery god.

Thor stood his ground, eyes blazing.

"AHHHH—!"

With a primal roar, he hurled divine lightning from Mjölnir to meet the incoming inferno.

BOOOOM!

Fire and lightning collided with cataclysmic force.

The resulting explosion tore the very sky. Flames and electricity intertwined in a chaotic spiral, bursting outward in a dome of annihilation. The shockwave rippled across the landscape like the wrath of a god, obliterating buildings, tearing apart roads, and leveling everything in its path.

Boom... Boom... Boom...

Structures crumbled like sandcastles. The battlefield was no longer a battlefield—it was a wasteland.

William was caught in the blast and thrown violently backwards. His body crashed to the ground with a heavy thud, raising yet another wave of debris.

When the world finally settled and silence returned, a massive crater lay in the heart of the battlefield—over thirty meters wide. Smoke billowed upward, thick and suffocating. The air reeked of ash and ozone.

In the crater's edge, Thor stirred. He was bloodied, his armor scorched, but still breathing. He climbed to his feet unsteadily, panting, his expression twisted with disbelief and frustration.

"Damn it..." he muttered, his voice thick with rage and humiliation. "To be pushed this far... by a mortal."

And then, across the field, William stood again.

Bruised, bleeding, and burned—but alive. As he moved his wounds were closing at blinding speeds.

He brushed the dust from his shoulders, cracked his neck, and looked at Thor with a calm, unreadable gaze.

"That's enough for today, Thor."

He turned to walk away.

"We'll finish this another time."

Thor growled, staggering forward a step.

"Are you... running away?"

William didn't look back.

"No," William replied calmly. "I'm just giving you time to recover. Next time, I won't be nearly as gentle."

Thor clenched his fists in frustration, but before he could reply, William vanished in a blink. In the next instant, he reappeared six or seven meters in front of Pepper and Jane like a ghost emerging from thin air.

"Run away? Don't misunderstand me," William said with a crooked smile. "I just remembered something... interesting."

Eric immediately stepped in front of Jane protectively, his body tense, his voice trembling. "Y-You... What are you planning to do? I-I'm not afraid of you!"

William chuckled softly, clearly entertained by Eric's attempt at bravery. "Relax, professor. With the power I possess, if I truly wanted to hurt you, do you really think you could stop me?"

Eric froze, speechless.

Jane, keeping her composure, met William's gaze. "Then what are you doing?"

William's smile faded into something more genuine—if only slightly. "Jane, do you hate me? For lying to you?"

Jane's eyes darkened. "Hate you? I loathe you. I hate you with every fiber of my being... I hat you to death." Her voice cracked. "And yet, I don't know how to stop thinking about you."

William nodded thoughtfully, as if that answer had confirmed something he already suspected. "Then wait for me. When I return, I think we'll have a lot to talk about."

He turned to Pepper. "As for you, Pepper, you're free... for now. Go, do as you please."

With a gentle wave of his hand, a soft green light shimmered across Pepper's face. In a moment, the subtle magical distortion faded, and her original appearance returned.

"You... you're letting me go?" she asked, wide-eyed, caught between suspicion and disbelief.

William smiled coolly. "Think of it as a temporary holiday. But don't get comfortable. I'll be seeing you again. And if you and Tony decide to get too cozy..." His eyes narrowed. "I'll make sure you both experience what true tragedy feels like."

Pepper's expression hardened. "Was that a threat?"

William tilted his head. "A promise? A warning? Take it however you'd like."

"Bastard."

Jane stepped forward. "Where are you going?"

William looked up at the sky, as if speaking to the heavens. "Where? Ah, that's a secret I'm not ready to share."

At that moment, Thor's voice echoed through the air like thunder. "William!"

He soared toward him, hammer raised, eyes filled with fury.

William smiled one last time. "Then goodbye."

With a blur of motion and a pulse of energy, he vanished once again, leaving behind nothing but the sound of the wind.

"Ugh...!" Thor halted mid-air, teeth gritted in frustration. He shouted to the sky, "William! Come back here, damn it!"

Jane looked at Pepper, her voice soft. "He's gone. You're free now."

Pepper nodded slowly. "Yes... free." But her voice lacked conviction. A complex emotion flickered in her eyes—confusion, doubt, maybe even fear. "I should be happy, right? But I don't know what to do now..."

Jane frowned. "Do you really feel that way?"

"Of course I do! I'm nothing like you." Pepper snapped back. "You... you actually feel something for that monster!"

Jane's eyes widened in protest. "When did I say that?! Don't put words in my mouth!"

"He will come back, but I hope I never have to see him again." Pepper's eyes flashed with a complicated color. She was free, but she didn't seem so happy. She didn't know what to do.

"Do you really think so?"

"Of course, I'm different from you. You actually have feelings for a super scum super villain."

Jane shouted, "When did I say I had feelings? Don't impose your thoughts on me."

As the tension between them thickened, Sif rushed to Thor's side. "Thor, we can't waste any more time here. We need to return—immediately."

Thor gave one final look around before nodding. "I know."

"You're leaving?" Jane asked, approaching slowly.

Thor turned to her with a gentle nod. "Yes. Thank you for your help. If fate allows it, we'll meet again."

With a gesture, he called out to his allies. "Volstagg, Fandral, Hogan, Sif—let's go!"

He took to the skies, Mjölnir spinning in his hand like a beacon of light.

Sif ran ahead and spotted her sword, the tip still broken from William's earlier assault. She picked it up and sheathed it without noticing that something was... different. The blade's texture, weight, even its hue had subtly changed—altered in ways no ordinary damage could explain.

Not far from where she stood, Sif did not notice that there was a sword with a broken tip in the corner next to her..

Sif, oblivious to the switch, rushed to catch up with the others.

Jane let out a long sigh. "They're gone... and they left us with this mess."

She looked around—the destruction was extensive. Buildings reduced to rubble, streets torn apart. And then her eyes caught something in the distance.

"The people from SHIELD are arriving," she muttered.

Pepper followed her gaze and grimaced. "Of course. Perfect timing. Not too early, not too late—just in time to interrogate us."

Jane crossed her arms. "Looks like we're about to be 'invited' for tea."
