Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree-Chapter 568: Black Sail Dividends
However, the Giant Rock Commerce Association is also putting in manpower and operating costs to manage various aspects of the entire process, so making more profit is quite normal.
Duke didn’t mind this either, as it was all written in the contracts.
In business, only when everyone profits can it last and continue.
...
Just a day after Harrison left, Lucas also came to see Duke.
The purpose of his visit was simple: the profit sharing from the improved version of Blood of War, called Bloodthirst, was ready.
Due to the strategic importance of Bloodthirst, Duke chose to cooperate with Black Sail. Although the profits would be much lower, the advantage lay in safety and reliability.
If collaborating with forces like the Giant Rock Commerce Association, greed could lead to unforeseen events.
Duke valued long-term gains more; when he wasn’t powerful enough, he knew to properly concede profits to ensure a better survival space for himself.
Once he has enough strength, he wouldn’t need to do so.
Deserted Island, in the visitor’s courtyard.
"Duke," Lucas’s voice was steady, carrying the courtesy of business affairs, as he nodded slightly, "I heard you performed well in the Deep Sea Insect Race mission. After hearing you’ve returned, I specifically came to handle some matters."
"Mr. Lucas, please have a seat." Duke nodded in response.
He had a good impression of Lucas, as this person was consistently meticulous in his work and trustworthy.
Lucas sat down quietly, his gaze sweeping across the room and landing on Duke, skipping any unnecessary pleasantries and directly stating his purpose: "I am here under the Legion Logistics Department’s direction to settle and deliver the profit share from the improved Blood of War formula over the past period."
As he spoke, he retrieved from his Space Ring a standardized metal file box with the seal of the Third Legion, along with a simply styled Magic Stone Card adorned with the legion insignia at its edges.
This is one of the advantages of the Magic Stone Card; although it’s considered a space tool, it can be placed within other space tools like the Space Ring and such.
In general, when the quantities of magic stones involved are massive, mostly Magic Stone Cards are used for convenient transportation of large amounts of magic stones.
"Due to ongoing battles in the Devourer Plane and comprehensive mobilization against Void Insect Race invasion, demand for efficient treatment potions has surged across Black Sail’s various legions and related battle zones." Lucas’s tone was even, as if delivering a routine report, "Your improved Blood of War, known for its outstanding effectiveness, performed excellently in the war, with consumption far exceeding expectations."
He placed the file box and Magic Stone Card steadily onto the table before Duke.
"According to logistics department calculations, after deducting standard costs, management fees, and the required legion share, your net share amounts to 31.5 million magic stones. All magic stones have been deposited into this internal legion settlement Magic Stone Card, here is the detailed earnings report and expense list copy for your review and confirmation."
31.5 million magic stones were somewhat beyond Duke’s expectations, as his profit sharing ratio was relatively low.
Though Black Sail extensively adopted Duke’s Bloodthirst potion, its use internally yielded little profit, mostly offered to the legions at cost price.
That was why Black Sail awarded Duke a Level 1 Black Sail Honorary Medal, as a minor form of compensation for tangible sacrifices made.
Yet since choosing to cooperate with Black Sail, Duke naturally sought protection, understanding that lesser profits were within expectations.
However, Duke hadn’t anticipated that he would still receive over 30 million magic stones income in such circumstances.
Calmly, he accepted the file box and Magic Stone Card, swiftly scanning spiritually to confirm clear accounts, and correct quantities.
Upon inspection, Duke found that most of this income actually derived from external sources.
Apart from internal use, Black Sail also sold a portion through various commerce association channels to other powers, which was the main profit source.
Recently, due to events in the Devourer Plane and Void Insect Race causing constant conflicts, demand for Blood of War also increased.
Duke’s Bloodthirst was substantially superior to ordinary Blood of War, capable of significantly boosting the Slave Creature Legion’s strength, earning favor across parties.
Yet, Black Sail still had not sold much externally, not because they didn’t want to, but because there wasn’t enough to sell.
Given their own substantial needs, the amount available for sale was further reduced.
Nevertheless, Duke received this profit share, which wasn’t insignificant.
"Thank you, Mr. Lucas." After counting, Duke signed a document with his spiritual power imprint, completing the receipt. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Lucas’s task was thus concluded, as he properly retained the signed document after verification.
Casually, Duke asked, "How are things at the Devourer Plane?"
Recently focused on the Void Insect Race, Duke had less understanding of the Devourer Plane, unaware of ongoing battles there.
Lucas hesitated briefly before informing, "The situation there has mostly concluded, as Lord Raphael intervened, everything settled."
These details were temporarily unknown externally, remaining known to involved parties only.
Considering Duke as one of the involved, Lucas disclosed part of the information.
After listening, Duke merely nodded silently, surprised by Level 6 Mage Raphael’s personal involvement.
Although Lucas briefly mentioned, with just a casual sentence.
Still, the issue seemed far from simple; Raphael’s engagement illustrated the complexity of the Devourer Plane.
Despite the Devourer Plane’s strongest force being Level 5 Life, fully resolving without future complications wasn’t easy, indeed calling for Level 6 Mage’s intervention for a thorough resolution.
"Once matters at the Devourer Plane conclude, there likely won’t be a new Plane war starting anytime soon." Lucas pondered before commenting.
"Is that so..." Duke mused.
This news led him to ponder many things, as it wasn’t positive news for resource-hungry Wizards.
Because the Plane Battlefield is the fastest method to acquire resources, albeit involving some risks.
Probably in response to frequent Plane wars these past years, along with the Void Insect Race’s invasion, not only Black Sail but Wizard Organizations all around needed some time to stabilize, likely to digest previous resources as well.
The Wizard Plane is never a place of chaotic expansion, its actions bear strategic purpose, avoiding mindless growth.
