Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree-Chapter 555: Fixed Star Orbit Cannon
Above the Level 6 Nest, there is an almost pitch-black circular zone, with a diameter of several thousand kilometers. Its surface is not hard chitin, but rather a constantly churning, bulging active bacterial mat, like a boiling asphalt ocean.
In the center of this bacterial mat, a massive, petal-like biological structure slowly opens, revealing a bottomless dark hole.
An unusually intense spatial fluctuation emanates from deep within the hole.
Albert immediately focuses his mind, gathering all his senses on that area, trying to discern its purpose.
He perceives the vast energy flow inside the nest beginning to converge on that area with unprecedented intensity.
Countless energy vessels, like rivers hearing a command, rush to inject massive biological and void energy into the boiling bacterial mat and central hole.
The churning of the bacterial mat becomes more intense, its surface revealing countless complex and eerie energy patterns, emitting a creepy glow.
Immediately after, the central dark hole begins to rotate, its interior not purely dark, but displaying a distorted, bizarre scene as if viewed through shattered glass, a blurry projection of other planes.
This hole is forcibly tearing space, establishing a temporary connection with a distant, unknown plane.
"It’s locating..." Albert realizes in his heart.
The will of the nest, like a cold gardener, is selecting the next planting target in the Endless Plane’s garden.
With the preliminary stabilization of the spatial channel, Albert sees tens of thousands, even millions of egg-shaped pods being ejected from under the boiling bacterial mat.
These pods vary in size, from small like meteors to large like mountains, covered with tough biofilm, containing curled, undeveloped insect race embryos and a mass of compressed chaotic matter as initial energy.
After these seed pods appear, they do not float randomly but are restrained by an invisible force, hovering above the bacterial mat like an army awaiting inspection.
In the next moment, the rotating spatial hole suddenly expands, generating a powerful, directed spatial jet stream.
A silent scream seems to echo in Albert’s perception as the millions of seed pods are accelerated by this terrifying spatial force, shooting into the rotating plane channel as streaks of light imperceptible to the naked eye.
Each pod lights up with a thin, space-distorting shield the moment it enters the channel, which will help them resist possible spatial turbulence and energy storms during inter-planar travel.
This process lasted for several hours. When the last batch of seeds was ejected, the massive biological petals begin to slowly close, and the boiling bacterial mat gradually calms down. The central spatial channel vanishes, as if nothing ever happened.
Only the strong spatial disruption remaining in that area can prove everything that just happened.
Albert watched the entire process; this is the way the Void Insect Race invades other planes.
It is an extremely efficient, highly targeted method of plane invasion, requiring no massive fleet or complex teleportation arrays, only needing the nest itself to act like a giant fungus continually sending out invasive spores to spread destruction and consumption to infinitely distant worlds.
Albert stayed near the Void Insect Race’s nest for a total of five days, collecting enough information to gain a comprehensive understanding of their overall situation.
He was never discovered, not even when the nest’s will of the Level 6 Nest swept over the area he was in, completely failing to detect this human presence.
When Albert’s figure reappeared on the Observer, the massive space fortress did not pause for a moment, activating the preset spatial jump coordinates, quickly disappearing into this dangerous void.
Upon returning to the Wizard Plane, the intelligence Albert brought back caused unprecedented upheaval within the Wizard Council.
The Wizard Council quickly held multiple meetings, primarily concerning the evaluation of the Void Insect Race’s strength, and the various aspects of the resources potentially acquired through warfare, and the costs of war.
After many evaluations, the Wizard Council reached a consensus. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
They believe the Void Insect Race’s comprehensive strength, especially its defensive and regenerative capabilities, exceeds previous estimates.
To occupy and plunder it through regular warfare methods, even with most of the Wizard Plane’s heritage, would require unimaginable costs.
This kind of long-distance expedition naturally lacks any home advantage; even with eventual victory, the Wizard Plane will be gravely weakened.
More importantly, during a prolonged war of attrition with the Void Insect Race, it is unpredictable whether it will attract other predatory planes during a period of weakness.
Endless Plane is never short of Hunters.
Seizing the nest is too costly, risks uncontrollable, strategically unwise.
However, the Void Insect Race invading the Wizard Plane will surely pay the price, and since the cost-benefit of waging war against them is too low, it requires a different approach.
The Wizard Council plans to take retaliatory action to make the Void Insect Race pay a price, not allowing them to leave so easily.
The target of retaliation is naturally the Level 6 Nest floating in the boundless universe, but causing damage to such an entity is not an easy task.
The Level 6 Nest can be considered a mobile plane, like nomads in the Endless Plane, forever wandering and foraging within it.
But this nest can also be considered an extremely powerful entity, its comprehensive strength having surpassed the Level 6 range, and is not to be seen merely as a Level 6 Life.
Common attack methods are almost incapable of harming the Level 6 Nest; even a full-force strike from a Level 6 Mage might only slightly injure this massive, horrendous entity.
But to completely crush and destroy it directly is beyond the capability of an ordinary Level 6 Mage.
For achieving this step is akin to destroying a highly advanced middle plane single-handedly.
However, the Wizard Plane does not lack such methods; civilization-level weapons acquired from other planes, like the Fixed Star Orbit Cannon, can achieve this.
But the Fixed Star Orbit Cannon’s drawback is that it can only be used for defense and cannot be taken out for active strikes.
The distance of the Level 6 Nest from the Wizard Plane is too far, already far beyond the range of the Fixed Star Orbit Cannon.
To cause substantive damage to the Level 6 Nest, other means need to be considered.
