Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree-Chapter 478: Returning Home
After learning about Earl Hardy’s condition, Duke wasted no time and immediately contacted Harrison from the Giant Rock Commerce Association through the Wizard’s Mark.
"Mr. Duke, congratulations once again on your successful promotion!" Harrison’s tone was more respectful than ever, "You’re saying you need some items that would be beneficial to ordinary people... um, more specifically, to elderly, frail nobles with old injuries?"
"Yes, Mr. Harrison." Duke stated his needs directly, "I need the most effective, gentle items that can repair hidden bodily injuries, slow aging, and absolutely ensure safety with no side effects for ordinary people. Price is not an issue."
Although Vivian had already prepared many things for Earl Hardy, Duke would still do his utmost to help, as long as it could benefit Earl Hardy.
Harrison’s expression turned more serious upon hearing this.
"I understand. For such a situation, our commerce association does indeed have some rare treasures from various planes, but most of them possess energy that’s too domineering for ordinary people. However, after reminiscing for a moment, there are a few items that might meet your requirements."
He quickly organized detailed information about several items and sent them to Duke through the Wizard’s Mark.
"Deep Sea Mermaid’s Tear: Not actual mermaid tears, but a healing essence secreted by a special deep-sea pearl oyster. It has strong calming and analgesic effects and can nourish the internal organs. One costs fifty thousand Level 1 Magic Stones."
"Thousand-year-old Stone Milk: Natural stalactite essence from deep within the earth’s veins, containing earth essence that can strengthen the body’s foundation. It slowly improves constitution and can extend an ordinary person’s lifespan by several years. One portion costs seven hundred fifty thousand Level 1 Magic Stones."
...
Anything related to life extension tends to be expensive, even if it only works for ordinary people.
Yet Duke did not hesitate to purchase everything he thought might be useful to Earl Hardy, spending over six million Magic Stones.
He chose the most reliable combination, covering healing, nourishment, symptom relief, and life extension comprehensively.
Even though Earl Hardy could never use up all of these, Duke didn’t care; he’d rather buy them first and decide later whether to use them.
Duke also thought of the Spring of Life he had placed in the Light God Court; he could easily concoct a solution with a relatively low concentration from the Spring of Life, which should also be somewhat effective for ordinary people.
However, he wouldn’t be reckless; he would certainly conduct thorough testing and let the data speak.
Two days later, Duke had six test tubes filled with a pale green solution in his hands.
He named it the Dew of Life, the diluted product of the Spring of Life.
Even so, it still contained pure life energy that could gently nourish the flesh, repair minor damage, and delay cell aging. Naturally, it could also promote wound healing.
These past two days, Duke also took the time to observe the situation inside the Light God Court. The World Tree Seed still hadn’t awakened, but one could clearly feel the life pulse emanating from the seed, indicating that its awakening might not be far off.
Although the World Tree Seed had not awakened, there had been significant changes within the Light God Court during this time.
Now the Light God Court was filled with trees, flowers, and green grass everywhere, with various trees growing at an extremely fast pace, forming large expanses of towering forests.
This was the effect of the Spring of Life; rainwater rich in life energy constantly fell and recycled within the Light God Court. For these ordinary plants, it was an excellent catalyst, fostering extreme growth. Some plants even started to mutate, exhibiting new traits.
Duke had been observing these processes, feeling that it might not be long before some new species were born.
The spring where the Spring of Life resided had not diminished; for now, it seemed to maintain a stable balance.
The World Tree Seed would reciprocate the Spring of Life, instead of only taking, a phenomenon Duke had never seen recorded in any tome.
Since very few individuals could simultaneously possess both the World Tree and the Spring of Life, there were even fewer documented records.
Duke had no choice but to record his observations as he went along, carefully navigating his way.
After preparing some things for Earl Hardy, Vivian planned to depart and take a look back home.
She valued her father highly; for many wizards, family had long become a distant memory.
They lived for hundreds or even thousands of years, and without offspring, they almost had no family left, unless they were from the Wizard Clan.
For wizards like Duke and Vivian, their former relatives were destined to leave sooner or later, making their time and opportunities to interact increasingly scarce.
Now, while Earl Hardy was still around, she wanted to go back and see him, to avoid future regrets.
Because no matter what life-extending items there were, they could never fundamentally solve the problem.
Earl Hardy was still just an ordinary person with a very short lifespan, and even with a life extension, he wouldn’t gain much more time, so being able to die peacefully of old age would be the greatest blessing.
Duke completely understood this; Vivian at least still had family and the people of her clan, while he truly had no one.
Considering that Vivian planned to return to the Florence Continent, he also intended to go back and take a look.
There were plenty of ways to travel back; besides ordinary sea ships, they could also rent transport like Floating Airships.
However, sea ships were too inefficient and took too long, while the cost of Floating Airships was too high—renting an entire Floating Airship for just two people wasn’t necessary.
Duke had a better option, which was the Storm Dragon Eagle.
With the ability and speed of the Storm Dragon Eagle, flying from one continent to another was no issue, even crossing a vast expanse of ocean.
Duke estimated that it would take five to six days; as long as there were no unexpected events on the way, they could reach the Florence Continent smoothly in five to six days.
Because the flight wasn’t a straight line, some areas needed to be circumnavigated, which would add some time to the journey but was still much faster than taking a ship.
The ocean is the domain of the Sea Race, over which they essentially have control.
There are Level 6 powerhouses within the Sea Race, which gives them the capital to negotiate with wizards. There had been wars with wizards in the past, but later, after negotiations, a temporary state of peace was reached.
Many areas in the sea are the forbidden zones of the Sea Race; flying directly over these regions is considered an act of provocation, so one must avoid these areas.
Duke naturally understood this as well and wouldn’t foolishly charge across the sea’s surface.
