Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree-Chapter 433: Preparing for War
The Duke planned to carry out some experiments through Robert, aiming also to explore the secrets behind the Oracle Plane.
He intuitively felt that researching and investigating through Mercury, where Robert was, might yield some useful information.
There must be some connection between Mercury and the Oracle Plane, but it’s currently impossible to travel to the Mercury Plane for investigation.
He had never met Robert in reality, so he couldn’t send a message through the Messenger channel; otherwise, he could have sent some small items to Robert.
Only when his own strength is sufficient, enabling him to use more of his Divine Status abilities, can he pass some things to his followers.
The Duke couldn’t help Robert much for now and could only rely on Robert to practice and gather information himself.
After ending the communication with Robert, the Duke continued to meditate.
...
Time flowed swiftly by, and beneath the seemingly calm days, undercurrents surged.
After the occupation of Iron Rock City, the city did not fall silent; instead, it revived in a more intense and ruthless manner.
It was no longer a city inhabited by living beings, but had completely transformed into a colossal, precise, and efficiently operating war machine hub, a gigantic springboard and logistics center serving the next step of the offensive towards the Sobbing Blood Plain and even the entire Buren Continent.
Every day, every moment, the enormous, heart-palpitating roar echoed over Iron Rock City.
The transportation airships emerging from the three giant holes in the sky were no longer occasional appearances but formed massive fleets, constantly drilling out of the vortexes high above, descending densely like black raindrops into the vast areas forcefully cleared within and outside Iron Rock City.
These transportation airships were far bulkier and bigger than battle ships; they unloaded not ammunition, but living war resources.
Ship after ship of varied and roaring slave creatures were driven down. They came from various conquered planes: rock-skinned, horned giants, wind-swift canine mutants with gleaming claws, and flying insects that could spew acid or poisonous spikes.
They poured out like nightmares from Pandora’s box, immediately incorporated into the ever-growing slave legion phalanx outside the city by Wizards using Control Talismans waiting for them.
These phalanxes covered the fields outside the city, the roars and restless aura converging into a suffocating wave of sound, the air thick with their unique stench and violence.
Old legions marched to the front lines, and new ones were immediately filled in. Their numbers did not decrease but rather expanded visibly, seemingly without end.
At the same time, a vast array of Alchemy Creations was also descending.
Massive crates were pried open by golems with enormous strength, revealing components shimmering with metallic or rune glow.
On specialized assembly grounds, under the direction of some Wizards, more Heavy Golems assembled these components with the skill of seasoned workers.
New giant magic-guided cannons were assembled and calibrated, and battle golems over five meters tall, covered in thick armor, with eyes glowing with merciless red light, were activated.
There were also various peculiar alchemy devices, including towers capable of large-scale energy interference, wall builders for quick construction of temporary defenses, and oscillators specialized in breaking energy-type barriers.
These cold war machines were produced ceaselessly, exponentially boosting Iron Rock City’s defensive and offensive capabilities.
The streets within the city were almost filled with these materials and troops. Fully armed squads of Wizards were seen everywhere, hurrying between various temporary command posts, exchanging intelligence and receiving orders.
Wizards in charge of maintenance were busy around the golems and gun carriages, twinkling tools flashing in their hands.
Iron Rock City had turned into a colossal camp of steel and flesh, every corner serving the war, every moment accumulating destructive power.
Everyone within, be they Wizards, Knights, or indigenous captives enslaved and driven, could clearly feel the accumulating monumental war pressure, almost bursting out.
The Duke and the others had not been idle during this time, involved in various odd jobs.
They could noticeably feel that although the tasks were simple, they helped them familiarize themselves with the entire plane warfare process.
Starting from the simplest material inventory, they needed to become familiar with various materials’ uses and characteristics.
There was also some management work for slave creatures, requiring the Duke and the others to familiarize with various slave creatures’ attributes and habits.
These creatures from different planes had all sorts of strange habits, demanding different management approaches.
Notably, the Duke saw green-skinned orcs this time; they were a fully armed warrior unit, wearing armor made of magic metal.
Not only that, but they also carried some heavy fire energy weapons.
These energy weapons were not easy to use; at least most of the slave creatures did not have sufficient conditions to use such weapons.
But green-skinned orcs were different; they had enough intelligence to learn and understand various knowledge, becoming an extremely excellent slave creature troop.
Recently, Black Sail had made a fortune by selling these green-skinned orc slave creatures, intentionally controlling the quantity sold externally.
Currently, only Black Sail had large-scale green-skinned orc troops; other places had only a few, which was also Black Sail’s way of maintaining their advantage.
The Duke saw the continuously gathering troops and knew that the war was probably nearing its start.
Obviously, the battle at the Sobbing Blood Plain would be a tough one, so the United Legion focused heavily on preparation, ensuring it was thorough before heading out.
The roaring in the sky hadn’t ceased during this time, with various transportation airships continually flying out of the three holes in the sky.
The indigenous people of the Sobbing Blood Plain must have seen this scene, but they had no means to do anything about it.
To them, the three holes in the sky represented a huge threat; it would be best if they could cover up these holes.
However, they didn’t have such abilities, as they had never encountered a situation with three holes in the sky and had no idea how to deal with it.
Currently, they could only rely on the self-healing ability of the Plane’s dimensional barriers to slowly recover.
But with the Wizards’ interference, the recovery speed of the dimensional barriers was extremely slow, with little hope of complete healing before the end of the war.
