Wizard: Adventures in Two Worlds-Chapter 514 - 21 United
Of course, it wasn’t normal!
Carl flew into mid-air and looked into the distance. With his current eyesight, it was raining even at the very edge of his vision.
The dense water elements in the air had completely shattered the natural order, leaving no room for anything else to exist.
Water! Nothing but water, nothing else!
If no other changes were made, this situation would persist until this land turned into a sea.
"When I was young, before the Gods had fallen, the Water God once grew spirited," Mei Weiya flew close and said. "He made it rain in one area for two months straight, turning the desert into a marshland. The scene before us somewhat resembles that time."
Could it be the work of an Evil God’s follower? Carl pondered. Although this manipulation of natural forces is still a Second Order category, the spellcaster’s true Cultivation must have reached the Third-tier. Otherwise, the range wouldn’t be so vast. It’s highly likely an Upper-level Vassal of an Otherworld Water God, or perhaps even the work of a Divine Son.
In this world, apart from Gods, there were only Knights, who possessed relatively few methods to manipulate the forces of nature.
In contrast, as a Wizard, he could see the current situation more clearly.
"Hmm," Mei Weiya nodded slowly in agreement, her eyes flashing with a mix of longing and fervor. "Third-tier..."
She had once been only half a step from the Third-tier, yet she had been stuck at the Second Order Peak for hundreds of years.
Fortunately, those hundreds of years had not been wasted.
She had acquired the Divine Skill ’Three Disks Skill’ from an unknown world, a skill capable of evolving infinite Bloodlines. After centuries of research, she had finally made progress.
This was also why Mei Weiya was interested in the bodies of Evil God’s followers—she could extract their Bloodline.
Just as Carl acquired Source Material.
Gaining Bloodline Power would also increase Mei Weiya’s strength, preparing her for the final step.
"Hmm?"
With a slight flicker in her eyes, Mei Weiya lightly tapped her foot. A gentle breeze enveloped her, and she shot tens of miles away.
Her speed astonished even Carl.
He immediately spread his Thunder Wings to follow.
"Stop!"
Mei Weiya pierced through the curtain of rain and appeared in a body of water floating in mid-air, frowning at the figure inside. "What are you doing? Recklessly flooding, whipping up storms without care for the lives of creatures, what benefit does this bring you?"
"Oh?" The figure in the water had an elegant posture; her upper half resembled a beautiful girl, while her lower half was a fish tail. She closely resembled a legendary mermaid. Seeing the two of them, the mermaid flicked her tail, and the surrounding rain intensified as she slowly spoke, "I follow the Fish King’s orders to bring rain to the nearby areas. Only those who believe in the God of Water can find peace. And who might you be?"
"My name is Mei Weiya," Mei Weiya said. "A descendant of this realm’s God of Death Sleep."
"So you are a native," the mermaid’s mouth curled in disdain. "The Gods of your world have all perished. Even possessing Divine Blood won’t grant you any protection. Still, only by believing in the God of Water can you find peace."
Mei Weiya’s brow furrowed. Suppressing her displeasure, she asked, "If I declare my belief in the God of Water you speak of, are you sure the rain will stop?"
"Of course!" the mermaid nodded, her eyes brightening. "You carry the Bloodline of this realm’s Gods and can fly. If you believe in the God of Water, you will surely receive blessings. Furthermore, if followers of other Gods bully you, we will also step in to help. But before that, you need to heed the Fish King’s commands."
Mei Weiya pondered.
She didn’t much care for the citizens of the City of Death. In fact, over the centuries, countless citizens had died by her hand.
Innumerable!
If she could trade the city’s inhabitants for peace, it wasn’t out of the question.
"You said to heed the Fish King’s commands?" Carl interjected, seeing her contemplation. "What if we don’t listen?"
"If you believe in the God of Water, you must swear an oath and sign a contract. Violating it will definitely incur Divine Punishment," the mermaid shook her head. "If the Fish King tells you to go east, you cannot go west!"
"I see..." Mei Weiya understood. All thoughts vanished from her eyes as she suddenly appeared behind the mermaid. "Then you can die!"
SHRRRIP!
With a light sweep of her hand, the mermaid’s flesh separated from her bones. The protective water around the mermaid offered no resistance.
Carl smiled faintly and clapped his hands.
Ten Thousand Buddha Hands!
BANG!
The mermaid, left with only a residual aura, was obliterated by his palm. Simultaneously, 1.3 Source Material flowed into the Divine Domain Fragment.
Lower Vassal!
Mei Weiya flicked her hand, storing the corpse. A gloomy chill flashed in her eyes as she said, "The consciousness of an Evil God’s follower is protected by its deity and cannot be probed, but the body still retains memories. I need time to investigate."
"Oh!" Carl raised an eyebrow. "I will guard you."
It’s true that physical nerves can retain residual memories, but the ability to extract memories from a corpse is extraordinary. Few Wizards can achieve this; it was unexpected that Mei Weiya could.
「Several days later.」
Carl’s figure appeared above a mountain forest.
He looked down at the village below and slowly drifted down amid the villagers’ terrified and fearful gazes.
"Respect...respected sir." A young woman in a white robe trembled as she stepped forward from the crowd, nervously speaking, "May I ask if there’s anything with which we can serve you?"
"I want to see your Divine Envoy here," Carl said. "Don’t worry, I have no ill intentions. You should be able to contact her, right? Don’t say you can’t."
The woman gave a bitter smile. She was the village’s priestess and possessed the means to contact the Divine Envoy. However, she did not believe the Divine Envoy wanted to meet the man in front of her, especially since the Divine Envoy had fled upon sensing his approach.
Flee! As much as she hesitated to admit it, the priestess saw the Divine Envoy’s actions and demeanor as an escape.
In the center of the village stood a simple altar. The woman slowly walked to its center and knelt, praying devoutly. "Great God of Light, you are the master of all things, father of all spirits, your devout believer prays to you... Seeking an audience with your messenger, ’Mei.’"
Mei?
Carl’s eyes shifted slightly.
"Hmm..."
The woman’s body trembled. She slowly turned around; her appearance hadn’t changed at all, yet one could instantly tell she was a different person.
"Is it you?" Mei clearly recognized Carl from their encounter a few days prior. Manifesting her divine consciousness through the believer’s body, her eyes narrowed slightly as she asked, "What brings you here?" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"An alliance!" Carl stated. "The Gods of this world have fallen, and new ones have yet to be born. Gods from Otherworlds covet this place. Compared to Evil Gods who destroy a world’s Source Material to obtain it, Righteous Gods like the God of Light are more suitable for cooperation."
"You want to cooperate with me?" Mei’s eyes flickered. "Why?"
"It seems you don’t fully understand," Carl shrugged. "The Upper-level Vassal of the God of Water has already allied with the followers of Dragon Calamity. There are likely many similar alliances. Once others successfully form alliances, someone like you, operating alone, won’t be able to expand your faith."
Mei’s expression changed slightly. "Dragon Calamity Devours all living beings. How could the followers of the God of Water cooperate with it?"
"You know of them?" Carl said. "It seems I was right to seek an alliance with you."
"A powerful native," Mei mused briefly, then said, "I know you are strong, but you are no match for an Upper-level Vassal. Neither am I. Perhaps... I should take my believers and leave this place, go somewhere safe."
"Heh..." Carl chuckled. "This village has barely a dozen households and only a few dozen people. Even if you were given a hundred years to prosper and multiply, how many believers could you gather? The God of Light sent you here, surely not just for the faith of these mere dozens of believers, right?"
Mei remained silent.
"Besides you and me, the City Lord of the City of Death is also part of the alliance," Carl continued. "The City of Death has hundreds of thousands of citizens. If you agree to the alliance, she will allow you to spread your faith there."
Mei caught her breath. "Hundreds of thousands of people... Is that true?"
"Of course, it’s true," Carl affirmed. "However, in exchange, you need to provide us with information about the Otherworld Gods and stop the God of Water’s rain."
