Wizard: Adventures in Two Worlds-Chapter 404 - 157 Black Wizard
BLEAT!
BLEAT!
Four First Order Spirit Sheep raised their heads, making strange bleating sounds, their hooves lifting off the ground as they pulled the carriage soaring into the sky.
Daniel controlled the Spirit Sheep to adjust their direction and turned to glance over.
"Carl."
"Opportunities to broaden one’s horizons are rare, Knight, and there’s no need to rush back. After all, even if things become chaotic, few would dare offend a Wizard from the Six Rings Tower."
"Right," Carl nodded. "The main issue is that I don’t have many Magic Stones on hand. Staying here is pointless; I’m better off returning."
"Heh..." Daniel chuckled lightly. "True."
He was not well-acquainted with Carl, this newly-promoted Wizard from the tower, but had discussed impressions of him with others. Their assessment was remarkably consistent. Cautious, timid, eager for knowledge; his Wizard Talent was rather ordinary, but his luck was quite good. Such Wizards usually had limited prospects. If a Wizard Apprentice’s advancement depended on innate talent, then a Wizard’s advancement depended on various resources. A Wizard like Carl, with average talent and no backing, had to fight for every opportunity to advance. Otherwise, he might remain a First Ring Middle Stage Wizard for his entire life. Being cautious was a good thing. But being overly cautious and lacking a fighting spirit meant that cultivation resources wouldn’t simply fall from the sky. In comparison, Oma was doing much better. Although a young woman, she knew exactly what she needed, and every step she took was firm. With Wizard Bella’s assistance, given time, she would surely become a One-Circle Late Stage Wizard. Even the Second Circle was not necessarily out of her reach.
Daniel kept these thoughts to himself. Having given Carl a hint, he felt he had fulfilled his responsibility; there was no need to say more.
In the moonlight, the Spirit Sheep carriage pierced the thick clouds, leaving wisps of smoke trailing behind as it galloped onward. The carriage’s speed wasn’t remarkable, but it was very comfortable, perfect for long journeys.
Carl stroked the soft armrest and backrest, already contemplating when to acquire one for himself. Enduring the wind and sun on a flying carpet was far less elegant than watching the clouds drift by from the comfort of a carriage.
"Hmm?"
Daniel, who had been resting with his eyes closed, suddenly opened them and looked toward the distant forest.
A sudden attack by a spirit of the dead?
The familiar fluctuations of witchcraft made his expression change. After a moment’s thought, he handed a wooden tablet to Carl.
"You take control of the sheep carriage. I’ll go check the situation over there."
"This..." Carl also sensed the distant energy fluctuations. Hearing Daniel’s words, he nodded lightly. "Please be careful."
"No worries." Daniel’s figure flashed and disappeared from his seat, reappearing thirty meters away. After a few flashes, he was out of sight.
One-Circle Witchcraft—Void Walking! This was a special witchcraft unique to the Six Rings Tower. It provided astonishing movement speed and could be upgraded to corresponding Second Order and Third-tier witchcraft. With this witchcraft, even when facing a Second Circle Wizard, Daniel had a good chance of survival. Against a First Order being, he was practically undefeatable.
Carl withdrew his envious gaze and picked up the wooden tablet for controlling the Spirit Sheep carriage, quickly mastering its use.
"The auction isn’t over, and chaos has already begun. It seems my decision to leave early was right," Carl murmured.
"HYAH!"
BLEAT!
The four Spirit Sheep raised their heads, bleated sharply, and accelerated forward.
「Not long afterwards.」
Just as the carriage crossed a high mountain, they saw several figures racing among the peaks, some of them shouting continuously.
What was this... A chase in the wilderness?
One of the fleeing figures saw the Spirit Sheep carriage and urgently shouted, "Friends from the Six Rings Tower! Please stop! Black Wizards are hunting us! We beg your assistance and will reward you generously afterward."
"Damn it!" The pursuers’ expressions turned grim. One of them roared, "Don’t meddle! This is a personal grudge. Don’t think we won’t retaliate just because you’re from the Six Rings Tower!"
"Die!"
As he waved his Magic Wand, a curved arc of light flashed out, sweeping toward the fleeing figures.
THWIP!
THWIP! THWIP!
In an instant, several people fell to the ground.
Aboard the carriage, Carl frowned slightly, then controlled the Spirit Sheep to charge toward the figures below.
WHOOSH...
The Gale churned.
The two figures at the front were pulled into the carriage by an invisible force. The Spirit Sheep then turned and surged upward.
Had it been anyone else, Carl would have chosen to Ignore them. But this time, the one being hunted was an acquaintance.
"Carl!"
"Wizard Inid, we meet again."
The person being hunted was none other than Inid of the Nelson family.
Glancing down at the pursuers using Flying Witchcraft, Carl’s expression tensed.
First-order Middle Stage! No wonder Inid hadn’t dared to fly into the open sky; against such an opponent, it would have been almost certain death.
ROAR!
A vast dragon’s roar suddenly echoed through the void.
A huge black dragon was summoned by the pursuing Wizard. It opened its great maw, lunging for the Spirit Sheep carriage.
Summoning Technique! Wizards form pacts with creatures from the Star Realm or other worlds, summoning them to battle enemies when needed. This type of witchcraft was one of the few capable of defeating higher-Tier enemies, provided the summoned creature contracted by the Wizard was sufficiently powerful. However, the black dragon, though imposing, was merely a phantasm—or, to be precise, a residual soul. Its Tier was, at most, First Rank Late Stage. Yet the Dragon Might it unleashed was still incredibly oppressive to the Spirit Sheep, causing their speed to slow considerably.
"HYAH!"
Carl gripped the wooden tablet controlling the carriage, frantically pouring his spiritual power into it.
BLEAT!
The four Spirit Sheep bleated sharply in unison, their auras connecting as a giant, spectral Spirit Sheep materialized in the void.
