Chapter 1415: Hidden egg

Standing over the hydra’s corpse, Lin Fan didn’t move at all as he waited to see what would happen.

But even if he stood there waiting, it wasn’t as if there was anything that was actually going to happen. After all, this hydra had been completely charred from head to toe and all of its cells had been completely burnt to death.

The only thing that was left was nothing more than a husk of what it once was.

It was only after a while that Lin Fan started moving towards the hydra’s corpse.

There was a part of him that wondered if he should do something with this corpse, but he held back in the end as he collected this corpse and put it into his Storage Ring.

He could have cut into the hydra’s corpse here and now to get what he wanted, but that wasn’t what Lin Fan did in the end. After all, he knew that there were far more things that he could do with this corpse rather than mutilate it with his terrible skills.

If he were to try and butcher it on his own, there was no doubt that he would just ruin everything that was here.

It wasn’t worth it just to do that for what he was looking for.

After all, he was certain that there were more valuable things that could have come from the hydra’s corpse. There was a reason that the hydra had been able to rule undisputedly over this Serpent Wetlands all this time.

So that was why he was planning on getting as much out of it as possible.

Since the hydra had been taken care of, it didn’t seem like there was anything else left here for Lin Fan. However, he didn’t seem like he was planning to head back that soon.

After all, he knew that there would be more valuable things hiding in the den of this hydra.

As long as he followed the path that the hydra took, then he would be able to get those things.

Which was why after looking carefully on the ground, Lin Fan started heading in a certain direction. While he was moving, he also had Hayase by his side as if letting him guide the way.

Though what Hayase was really doing was just following the footsteps of the hydra under the swamp water.

With the size of the hydra, it made very distinct foot prints that were easy to follow.

It didn’t take long for Lin Fan to arrive at the den, but he certainly took much less time than others since he had a special way to track it. Others wouldn’t have been able to find the tracks so easily under the swamp water.

After he arrived at the den, the first thing that he did was...

"This isn’t a place for people to step in."

Lin Fan had no choice but to clear out all of the poison that was in front of him and it certainly wasn’t an easy task. Since this was the place that the hydra lived, it meant that there was a lot of poison that seeped out as it lived in this place.

This poison completely soaked the den that it lived in and he had no choice but to wash it out with Clear Water.

If he used normal water, it actually vaporized the water that he tried to contain the poison in. So in the end, Lin Fan had no choice but to use Clear Water since that was the only kind of water that the poison couldn’t completely melt.

With Lin Fan’s control of the Clear Water, it really didn’t take him long to clear out all of the poison.

The problem was that since the poison was all over the den, it didn’t seem like there was anything that was worth taking. The poison itself was a powerful one that had melted everything of worth, so there really wasn’t anything that was left in the den to take.

If it wasn’t for the fact that the poison came from the hydra, it would have been impossible for it to live in this place.

Seeing that there was nothing for him to take, Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling a bit disappointed.

But that disappointment soon disappeared as he felt something coming from inside of the den. He hadn’t noticed it at first, but he had soon found it when he scanned this area with his spiritual sense.

It wasn’t as if it was something that was well hidden in the first place, it was just that he didn’t really explore the den since he thought that there wouldn’t be anything there.

Only when he scanned it, he uncovered this thing that had been buried in the ground.

"Do hydras even lay eggs?" That was all that Lin Fan could ask the moment that he saw this.

This egg was certainly much bigger than any egg that he had seen in the past and it was clear that this egg wasn’t normal. He could sense the mana that was coming from this egg which showed just how special it was.

Still, he was certain that this thing was a hydra egg after using his Appraisal Eyes on it.

It was just that the Appraisal Eyes didn’t tell him anything other than the fact that it was a hydra egg and that it was healthy. It didn’t tell him anything about how strong the hydra inside was and how he would hatch it.

Regardless, Lin Fan didn’t think that the hydra inside of this egg would be weak since it was still a hydra.

Even if he couldn’t use it for anything, he could at least use it in the same way that he used the live serpents that he caught. He would be able to drain the poison from the hydra continuously instead of just taking it once from the hydra corpse.

Just this alone would be a large harvest for him.

After finding this egg, it really didn’t seem like there was anything else that was left in this den.

So in the end, Lin Fan went back to where the translator was waiting for him.

When the translator saw the direction that Lin Fan came in, he couldn’t help looking surprised before asking, "Where did you go? Did you run from the hydra?"

Lin Fan just revealed a faint smile before taking out the hydra corpse that he had stored.

When the translator saw this, he couldn’t help taking a step back with a trace of fear in his eyes. It was as if he was afraid that the hydra would come back to life at any moment with the way that he looked at the corpse.

But when the hydra just remained there motionless, it seemed to give him more courage.

Eventually, the translator moved forward to take a closer look at the hydra corpse. As he observed this hydra’s corpse, there was an excited look that appeared in his eyes.

It was hard for him not to feel this excitement since this hydra had been something that he and the other indigenous people had feared for a long time. This wasn’t the kind of feeling that they could resist at all. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Once he was done observing, the translator said, "Let’s go back and show everyone."

He wasn’t making a suggestion, it was as if he was stating a fact.

Lin Fan didn’t mind since he knew how big of a deal this was for the indigenous people that lived here. But more than that, there was something else that he wanted from them.

Which was why he easily agreed to go back with the translator to his tribe.

It was the same reaction that followed when they arrived at the tribe.

Most people looked at Lin Fan with strange looks that also had traces of sympathy. It was as if they didn’t believe that he would have defeated the hydra so quickly, so they all thought that he ran away instead of fighting the hydra.

Only when he took out the corpse of the hydra, it was hard for them to doubt him any longer.

Seeing this corpse in front of their eyes, they had no choice but to accept that this was the truth.

Once they accepted the truth, they had the same looks of excitement that filled their eyes.

These people had lived under the fear of the hydra for a long time and not only that, they had lived in terrible conditions this entire time. It was clear that this was a very big deal for them.

After they saw the corpse of the hydra, the chiefs of the different tribes didn’t hesitate to announce a joint celebration. This wasn’t just a celebration for one tribe, this was a celebration for all of the tribes that lived in this place.

After all, it was the dawn of a new era for them.

Though this place was still dangerous with all of the serpents that lived here, at least they no longer had to fear something like the hydra.

Lin Fan felt that it wasn’t that simple since there would always be something that filled the void that was left by a ruler of a place falling. So there was no doubt that there would be beasts that rose up to take the place of the hydra.

But when he thought about it, it was also possible that humans could take the place of the hydra.

It wasn’t as if it was his place to think about that, it was for the people that lived here.
