Wielding the Thunders Across Two Worlds-Chapter 45: Revisiting the Supreme Lord Pavilion
"Of course not!"
Bai Ke shook her head, wagging her tail. "It’s not that I’m unwilling to teach you, but you’re just a human. You don’t have Celestial Fox blood, you’re not in Harmony with me, and you can’t channel Moonlight Power. How could you possibly use Moonlight Evasion?"
"Let’s give it a try," Gu Zhao said, unconcerned.
He might not have this so-called Celestial Fox bloodline, but he followed the Natural Dao of Taoist Cultivation. The very beginning of his *Shangqing Heavenly Heart Righteous Method* was the Three Lights True Qi Cultivation Method, and moonlight was one of the most standard sources of True Qi.
"Okay, okay!" the Silk Embroideress readily agreed.
Her family, including Bai Ke, owed Gu Zhao an immense debt of gratitude. This was a chance to repay him. If Gu Zhao had any need for them, she would have even offered him the Celestial Fox Nails she held.
So, the Silk Embroideress explained to Gu Zhao in great detail how to circulate Magical Power within his body. She focused on how to sense the Moonlight Power, then how to channel his Magical Power, his own body, and the moonlight into one. This would allow him to instantly burn his Magical Power, protect his Body, and travel at extreme speed.
Gu Zhao committed it to memory and tried it out, but he didn’t succeed.
But he wasn’t worried. He might not have the Celestial Fox bloodline, but that didn’t necessarily mean he couldn’t master it. Even if he couldn’t achieve the full speed of Moonlight Evasion, he’d accept a version that was a few notches weaker.
’Even math problems can have more than one solution. What’s wrong with modifying a bit of Magic?’
After one attempt, Gu Zhao stopped and asked the Silk Embroideress, "Do you have anything else?"
The Silk Embroideress froze at his words, her face flushing slightly. She looked like she wanted to say something but held back. Whatever she was thinking, a hint of coquettishness flickered in her expression.
"Of course there is! You think all those legends about fox spirits are fake? The Silk Embroideress also has a seduct... Mmph?"
The Silk Embroideress clamped a hand over Bai Ke’s mouth, then said to Gu Zhao, "I can also temporarily borrow Xiaobai’s Magical Power. Both the Celestial Fox Nails and the Moonlight Evasion will become much stronger."
"Oh!" Gu Zhao nodded as if he hadn’t heard Bai Ke. He just said to the Silk Embroideress, "Not bad. You have an attack, an evasion, and a temporary power-up. You’re already a qualified grunt."
Bai Ke: o(▼皿▼メ;)o
’If this lady’s mouth wasn’t being held shut by the Silk Embroideress, I’d bite you so hard!’ 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
But the Silk Embroideress’s expression was one of excitement. "Then, can I go out with you next time, Young Master?"
Gu Zhao was taken aback. "You want to come with me?"
"Young Master, you come from a noble background. You shouldn’t have to worry about trivial, everyday matters." The Silk Embroideress’s eyes were full of anticipation. "I can read a little, I can serve you tea and water, and make your bed. And now I’m a grunt, so I won’t hold you back."
Gu Zhao couldn’t help but laugh, ruffling the Silk Embroideress’s hair. "I was just joking. You’re not really a grunt. Among mortals, you’d definitely be considered a top-tier assassin."
The Silk Embroideress was startled, shaking her head like a rattle. "I don’t want to be an assassin."
"Of course, of course!" Gu Zhao understood. Seeing the hopeful look in her eyes, he thought to himself that his upcoming trips were just to clean up grunts in various mountain villages and county towns to raise his Cultivation. There was no real danger, so bringing along a young lady familiar with the affairs of the Otherworld wouldn’t be a bad idea.
So Gu Zhao nodded in agreement. "Alright. Once you’ve gotten a bit more practice, I’ll take you out with me. We’ll find a troublesome ghost for you to get some hands-on experience."
The Silk Embroideress instantly beamed with joy, her entire being radiating a refreshed and cheerful aura.
Bai Ke’s eyes darted, and she wagged her tail. "I know a troublesome ghost that’s perfect for the Silk Embroideress to practice on!"
...
「Qingcheng Mountain, Supreme Lord Pavilion.」
"DING!"
A crisp, melodious, and ethereal sound echoed through the great hall. A tourist who had climbed Qingcheng Mountain early in the morning bowed once more to the Supreme Lord Divine Statue before getting up to look around.
The middle-aged Daoist striking the chime saw a young man enter behind the tourist. Instead of kowtowing, the young man simply gave three deep bows to Taishang Laojun and then walked over to him.
"Excuse me, has Taoist Yan Song woken up yet?" Gu Zhao asked.
"Hm?" The middle-aged Daoist was taken aback. "You’re looking for Martial Uncle Yan Song?"
"I arranged to visit him today," Gu Zhao nodded, then pulled out his phone to check it. "I just sent him a message, but he hasn’t replied."
The middle-aged Daoist subconsciously glanced at Gu Zhao’s phone screen and saw that the profile picture in the chat was indeed Taoist Yan Song. He hurriedly said, "Martial Uncle practices his fist forms and recites scriptures every morning. He probably hasn’t checked his phone."
Just then, they both heard a soft chime from Gu Zhao’s phone. It was a reply from Taoist Yan Song. "I’m on my way. Have Ning Wen bring you upstairs first."
Gu Zhao looked up and asked, "Who’s Ning Wen?"
The middle-aged Daoist pointed to himself. "I am Ning Wen."
"Come, I’ll take you upstairs."
Although he didn’t know what relationship this young man, Gu Zhao, had with Taoist Yan Song, since Taoist Yan Song had given the order, Daoist Ning Wen naturally led Gu Zhao to the second floor. He even poured him a cup of tea before going back downstairs to continue striking the chime.
The tea was still warm when Taoist Yan Song pushed the door open and entered with a grin. "Did that Celestial Spirit Talisman work so quickly? Are you here to thank this old Daoist for playing matchmaker, or to invite this old Daoist to your engagement party?"
Gu Zhao was speechless. "What makes you so sure I’m interested in her?"
"A young man’s heart is easily stirred. Your eyes were practically glued to her long legs. This old Daoist is just helping you out," Taoist Yan Song said with a straight face.
Gu Zhao looked the old Daoist up and down. He just couldn’t figure out how the Five Thunders Order had determined that such a shameless old man had a pure Divine Soul and a righteous air about him.
’He even watches those "The Overbearing CEO Falls for Me" dramas!’
’Five Thunders Order, do you want to take another look?’ Gu Zhao silently asked the order in his mind.
The Five Thunders Order and the Thunder Seed revolving around it pulsed with joy.
Gu Zhao was speechless. "..."
"Actually, the other girl isn’t bad either. I’d say her attitude toward you is even better than the long-legged one’s," Taoist Yan Song mused, stroking his beard. "If you put in a little effort, she should be easier to win over."
Gu Zhao sighed. "I actually came to see you today on serious business."
"I know, you mentioned that. What’s the business?" Taoist Yan Song asked. "Is it about Cultivation?"
Gu Zhao had messaged him yesterday, saying he had something to discuss and would come over this morning to talk in person. That’s why Yan Song had only practiced a set of the Eight Pieces of Brocade before taking a moment to check his phone. He hadn’t expected Gu Zhao to actually come up the mountain so early.
In truth, Taoist Yan Song wasn’t all that curious about the "serious business."
One was a young man, the other an old Daoist. Besides matters of Taoist Cultivation, what else was there for them to talk about? Were they really going to discuss overbearing-CEO dramas and Purple-robed Celestial Masters?
"Did you find Qingcheng Mountain so quiet and elegant that you want to come here and become a Daoist?" Taoist Yan Song said with a laugh. "Don’t worry, things are different now. Religion is religion, law is law, work is work, and life is life. Even Daoists of the Quanzhen Sect can marry and have children."
Gu Zhao raised an eyebrow. "What about eating meat and drinking alcohol?"
"The Quanzhen precepts are quite strict. They’re mainly meant to purify the mind and body, cultivate one’s character, and help one avoid falling prey to desire so they can focus wholly on Cultivation. These rules are useful for most people, but for a genius... well, that’s a different set of standards."
Taoist Yan Song grinned. "Lü Zu himself could drink wine and chase women, so why can’t his descendants?"
