Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Ivy Jenkins Must Be Protected!

Ivy Jenkins wasn’t removed from her position, so she’s still in charge.

Elara Hale walked in with a folder, stood in front of the desk, and said calmly, "Director Jenkins, you wanted to see me?"

Ivy Jenkins glared at her, with a vicious look in her eyes, "You’re the one who reported to headquarters, aren’t you?"

Elara Hale shook her head, "It wasn’t me."

Upon hearing her denial, fury swelled in Ivy Jenkins’ eyes, and she snarled, "Stop pretending, who else could it be but you? Elara Hale, I never thought you were a naive rabbit; you’re a cunning wolf! In this world, not leaving yourself a way out is dangerous, understand?"

Elara Hale looked at her and replied unhurriedly, "Director Jenkins, the police came to investigate, so they must have evidence, right? How could I possibly have access to such accounting information?"

"Who knows what tricks you used!" Ivy Jenkins looked at her coldly. "Just like how you seemed ordinary, but suddenly orders came pouring in. How you managed that, you know best!"

Elara Hale was helpless. Could she say she really didn’t know?

She knew Ivy Jenkins wouldn’t have called her in just to vent, so she stayed silent, waiting for Ivy’s next words.

Sure enough, Ivy Jenkins’ expression changed a few times, finally suppressing her anger. She pressed her hands on the desk, leaned slightly forward, and her voice carried a threat, "Elara Hale, I’ll give you a chance. Go withdraw your report now. I don’t care how you do it, just get the headquarters people out of here for me."

Elara Hale was genuinely surprised Ivy Jenkins thought so highly of her.

She couldn’t help but reply, "Director Jenkins, if I were as capable as you think, able to summon and dismiss headquarters staff at will, why would I settle for being a mere sales rep in this small company?"

What gave Ivy Jenkins such a misconception?

Ivy Jenkins glared at her, her mind swirling with thoughts. Elara Hale genuinely didn’t seem to be acting, could it really not be her who reported this?

But how could there be such a coincidence in the world? Just after she gave Elara Hale a hard time one day, the next day she was reported and investigated?

The atmosphere in the office was eerily silent, and Elara Hale was the first to speak, "Director Jenkins, if there’s nothing else, I’ll head back now."

Ivy Jenkins didn’t respond, her bloodshot eyes intensely focused on Elara’s retreating figure. Only when the door closed, did Ivy suddenly smash the teacup on the floor.

She knew it was over this time.

Headquarters had sent someone down, and as soon as they arrived, they went straight for the accounts. Clearly, they had a lot of evidence.

With her abilities, she couldn’t stop them.

No one knew better than her how much trouble the accounts were in.

Everything happened too quickly, too quickly for her to prepare.

Once the accounting issues were exposed, she’d face jail time, and all her previous embezzlements would have to be returned.

She initially thought Elara Hale was an opportunity, but now realized she had overthought it. After all, how could such an ordinary employee pull something like this off?

A cold glint flashed in Ivy Jenkins’ eyes. She couldn’t just sit and wait for death; doing nothing would lead only to ruin.

Upon realizing this, she stood up and headed out. But just as she reached the door, she stopped, reconsidered, and chose not to go looking for someone herself. Instead, she returned to her chair and made a phone call.

A sinister voice spoke just a few words, "Come to my office."

Shortly after, someone knocked on the office door, and Ivy Jenkins coldly said, "Come in."

Jade Fisher walked in with a smile.

She didn’t seem afraid of Ivy Jenkins, directly pulling a chair to sit in front of the desk, asking, "Director Jenkins, you needed me?"

Ivy Jenkins fixed her with an icy gaze, taking several deep breaths to calm herself before speaking in a lowered voice, "Deducing Elara Hale’s commission was your idea."

Jade Fisher widened her eyes with an innocent expression, "Director Jenkins, you flatter me. I merely mentioned that Elara Hale wasn’t worthy of so much money, I didn’t suggest anything."

Ivy Jenkins, suppressing her anger, growled, "But you told me if there were any problems, you’d help me solve them! Now it’s drawn a headquarters investigation, one wrong move and I’m doomed. If you have any trick up your sleeve, stop hiding it and tell me quickly!"

Jade Fisher raised her eyes slightly, "Don’t be silly. You don’t honestly think headquarters is here because of Elara Hale, do you? What powers does she possess to stir such turmoil? This is definitely unrelated to her."

Seeing Ivy Jenkins’ grim face, she chuckled, leisurely saying, "But, indeed, I can help you sort this out."

Ivy Jenkins’ eyes lit up, "Really?"

Jade Fisher crossed her arms, leaning back smugly, "I’ve told you before, I’m far from the average employee you perceive me as. My connections and background are beyond your reach. Saving you is merely a matter of a word for me!"

Excited, Ivy Jenkins stood up and quickly stepped to her, urgently pleading, "Jade Fisher, please help me. I’m begging you. As long as I get through this crisis safely, I’ll do whatever you ask in the future!"

Jade Fisher glanced at her, sneering with a smile, "What could you possibly do for me?"

Ivy Jenkins hastily replied, "Anything, in the company, as long as there’s something you need me for, just say the word!"

"You said it yourself?" Jade Fisher looked at her.

"I did, I did," Ivy Jenkins promised quickly, "But you have to help me this once, otherwise I won’t even have the chance to work for you."

"Humph." Jade Fisher chuckled disdainfully, got up, and headed for the door, "Don’t worry, I’ll arrange it for you right now."

Ivy Jenkins felt relieved as she watched Jade Fisher’s figure walk out of the office.

Surviving this calamity would surely bring fortune; better days awaited her.

After leaving Ivy Jenkins’ office, Jade Fisher went straight to a secluded corner and made a phone call.

Ten minutes later, amidst the chaos in the company that day, she quietly slipped away.

In a luxurious downtown cafe, Jade Fisher arrived early and waited for quite a while before spotting Haylie Sommers dragging Rosalind Jacobs inside.

Reluctantly, Rosalind Jacobs complained, "Haylie, why did you drag me out? I’ve told you I’m pursuing my dream guy; this better be important!"

Haylie Sommers tapped her on the head, saying with frustration, "Your god, your god, all you know is your god. Where is he? You’ve never even met him, yet you call him your god?"

"What do you know?" Rosalind Jacobs said proudly, "He is an internationally renowned economist. Although he goes by the pseudonym Sarvian, and his assets may appear modest on the surface, it has been revealed that he comes from a top international aristocratic family, owning numerous first-class global assets!"

She paused and sighed unwillingly, "It’s just a pity his events are too exclusive, not even allowing photos or videos. However, even though I don’t know what he looks like, many who have seen him say he’s stunning! Rich, single, and handsome, that’s my god!"

Haylie Sommers snorted, mercilessly shattering her dream, "Stop dreaming. If he is really as great as you say, would he even notice you?"

Rosalind Jacobs stomped her foot, "How do you know he wouldn’t? You don’t know, but Northgarde has invited him many times, and he finally agreed to come next month for a speech. As long as I can get an entry ticket, with my looks, I’m sure I’ll catch his attention. Once I have his favor, my life will be glorious!"

Haylie Sommers was dismissive at heart. Although she also dreamed of marrying up, at most she considered Zayne Warner of The Warner Family, always staying grounded. But Rosalind’s thoughts were too bold. That was Sarvian, the most mysterious economist in the world. Would such a person look favorably on the ordinary Rosalind Jacobs?

But she also knew that Rosalind was currently excited, and saying more would surely anger her, so she changed the topic and pointed to Jade Fisher not far away, "Let’s go, there is good news that you are sure to like."

Jade Fisher saw Haylie pointing at her and hurriedly stood up excitedly, but afterward, Haylie and Rosalind continued talking as if she wasn’t there, so she had to awkwardly sit back down.

Though she was a bit annoyed inside, it was just because they came from a better background. If she had a background like theirs, she would have achieved something too, unlike them, always being idle and unskilled.

Jade Fisher looked down on them, but she had to maintain a good relationship with them to be closer to that circle.

Haylie Sommers sat down across from her and asked, "Jade, what did you mean on the phone? What do you mean, you can mess with Elara Hale any way you want?"

When Rosalind Jacobs heard the name Elara Hale, her face darkened, and she also sat down, asking, "What’s going on? What’s her relationship with Elara Hale?"

Haylie Sommers said, "You forgot what I told you before? I hired someone to give Elara Hale trouble, and it’s her, my dad’s driver’s daughter. She works at the same company as Elara Hale."

Jade Fisher felt annoyed as Haylie mentioned her being the driver’s daughter in a dismissive tone. She had always been proud and hated that her father drove for others.

But she couldn’t afford to offend the opponent’s status, so she swallowed her anger quietly.

When Haylie said this, Rosalind Jacobs remembered.

At the Warner family banquet, after the Jacobs were chased out, she was furious and hated Elara Hale.

Just so Haylie Sommers was also angry that Zara Dalton dared to break up with her and held a grudge against Elara Hale.

So they got together to teach Elara Hale a lesson. Haylie said her family driver’s daughter was at the same company as Elara and could give her trouble for some money.

These few days being busy chasing her god, Rosalind had almost forgotten about this.

Now hearing Haylie’s words, she looked toward Jade and said, "Did you call us here to say it’s done?"

Jade Fisher disliked the arrogant aura they exuded but still lowered her gaze and said, "Miss Jacobs, Miss Sommers, as you instructed, I made things difficult for Elara Hale in the company. She was about to be ostracized by everyone until suddenly someone from HQ came for an audit today.

Unfortunately, our company’s finance director got caught up in it. She hates Elara Hale the most; if she’s taken in, Elara Hale might dominate the company afterward."

Haylie Sommers frowned, a bit displeased, saying, "So why tell us this? It’s not my family’s company, and it involves headquarters too; what can I do?"

Jade Fisher hurriedly said, "Miss Sommers, if you could think of a way to save our finance director, Elara Hale wouldn’t have it easy in the company anymore! This audit has got the director blaming Elara Hale; as long as she gets out unscathed, Elara Hale will be tormented to death!"

Haylie Sommers kept frowning.

But Rosalind Jacobs’s eyes brightened, and she pulled at Haylie, "Did you hear that? We must save this finance director! Quickly think of a way!"

Haylie wasn’t as ignorant as her and retorted back, "Save her? With what? Since an audit has been set, it means evidence was submitted, and the police are involved. Is that something easy to meddle with?"

Rosalind didn’t care and puckered her lips, "So what? We don’t lack connections. We just need to ask the family to reach out, don’t we? Such a good opportunity, do you want to miss it?"

Haylie pressed her lips together but said nothing.

Of course, she didn’t want to miss it. Since Zara broke up with her, she has hated Elara Hale. Not because she particularly liked Zara, but no man had ever dared to break up with her first; her dignity was challenged!

She thought it must be connected to Elara Hale and wanted to give her a lesson indeed!

But many things were inconvenient for her and Rosalind to do directly, and the finance director Jade mentioned seemed suitable.

Seeing them still hesitating, Jade hurriedly added, "I’ve talked to the finance director; as long as she gets away safely, she’ll do whatever we want her to!"

Rosalind sneered, "Of course, we’re holding her handle, she dares not disobey!"

Haylie Sommers thought about it and said to Rosalind, "How about this, mention it to your brother when you get home, and I’ll talk to my dad to see if we can step in and get the woman out. If it doesn’t take too much effort, we’ll help her out."

Rosalind nodded, "Alright, I’ll go find my brother now."

They had done such things countless times since childhood, using power and money to turn things in their favor.

Who doesn’t have some connections? For them, it’s only about whether it’s worth helping or not, not whether they can help.

Jade Fisher watched them leave and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Then she took out her phone to call Ivy Jenkins.

Ivy Jenkins obviously had been waiting by the phone as she answered immediately, excitedly asking, "How did it go? All set?"

Jade Fisher, mimicking Haylie’s earlier tone, sneered, "Director Jenkins, you’re so anxious; do you think such things can be settled by just speaking a few words? How much networking, how much money does this need!" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Ivy Jenkins caught her meaning and paused before asking, "How much do you need?"

Jade Fisher smiled with satisfaction; she liked talking to smart people.

"Three million, just to test the waters. After I hook you up, five million more for movement fees."

Ivy Jenkins was shocked by her outrageous demand, opening with eight million!

But considering spending eight million to save her own life, she only hesitated for a few seconds before gritting her teeth to agree, "Fine!"

As long as she could weather this crisis safely, it’d be worth any cost!
