Who Cares About Him When I'm Married to the Richest Man?-Chapter 27: Next Time, Try Putting Your Trust in Me
In the private room, a few people high on substances were completely unaware of what had happened. George Joyce looked at the room full of esteemed guests, sighed heavily after a while, and ordered the waiter beside him, "Call the police."
The waiter was stunned. They were aware of the grey market businesses in the club, but they relied on them for money and connections. If the police were involved, could the Eye of Agelessness escape sanction?
Involvement of the police would cause customers’ trust in the club to plummet, effectively abandoning the top-tier connections in all of Northgarde!
George Joyce understood these stakes, but thinking of Mr. Fitzwilliam’s expression when he had just left, he couldn’t help but shiver.
Looking again at the sight of these second-generation heirs filled him with disgust. Those damned fools dared to mess with Mr. Fitzwilliam’s people, and they did it right on his turf. What was he supposed to do?
He had no choice but to trigger this landmine himself, or else wait for Mr. Fitzwilliam to cause an even bigger explosion!
Elara was unaware of these events. She huddled in Zion Fitzwilliam’s arms, watching as he effortlessly left the Eye of Agelessness and then took her into a taxi.
She was finally safe...
Elara’s body trembled slightly, and she couldn’t stop the tears from falling. Just thinking about how close things had come... she regretted it enough to want to slap herself.
Why was she so reckless, casually agreeing to such a meeting? She thought she had been fully prepared, but in reality, her preparations were inadequate in those people’s eyes!
Aware of the trembling person in his arms, Zion Fitzwilliam pressed his lips together. The streetlights streamed in through the car’s window, casting shadows on his face and making his emotions unreadable.
Once they returned home, he placed her on the sofa and spoke in a deep voice, "Those people will pay the price they deserve."
Elara curled up in a corner of the sofa, raising her head to look at him. The man was tall, casting a shadow over her. His face showed little expression, but his thin lips were pressed downwards, with an unmistakable aura of menace.
She opened her mouth, her voice hoarse, cautiously asking, "Are you... angry?"
She knew the trouble she caused today was foolish, but if she hadn’t been at a dead end, why would she have agreed to attend this dinner willingly... Ultimately, she had overestimated Rosalind Jacobs’ limits.
She didn’t know what went wrong on Zara Dalton’s end. If it weren’t for Zion Fitzwilliam... she didn’t dare to imagine the consequences.
But Zion Fitzwilliam wouldn’t just appear there for no reason. To save her, he probably neglected his own clients, and he might even have offended people because of her. It’s only natural for him to be angry...
She lowered her head and spoke with difficulty, "Today, thank you for saving me..."
Realizing he hadn’t controlled his emotions and perhaps scared her, Zion Fitzwilliam was silent for a moment. He sat down beside her, softening his tone, "I’m not angry with you."
Elara looked up at him, uncertain, "Really?"
"Really." His gaze fell on her, and after a moment of silence, he asked, "Why were you locked in there?"
Elara lowered her head, her nose tingling, and after a long while, calmed herself enough to explain the situation.
Zion Fitzwilliam listened, his brows furrowing tightly.
Earlier, sensing something was wrong with her mood, he had asked his assistant to check if anything had happened to the Hale Family, but the assistant probably only checked on Elara and David Hales, not considering Aidan Sommers as part of the Hale Family.
This oversight almost cost them dearly.
After some thought, he spoke in a deep voice, "Don’t worry about your brother. I have friends in the education system who can help. Since he was wronged, it shouldn’t be difficult for him to return to school."
Elara looked at him in disbelief, a mix of surprise and joy in her eyes, "Really?"
This was the second time in the evening she asked him if he meant it.
A hint of a smile appeared on Zion Fitzwilliam’s face, "Do you find me unreliable?"
Elara shook her head quickly, "No, I just..."
Just couldn’t believe the matter could be resolved so easily.
She paused, then confessed with a bit of embarrassment, "I should have asked you sooner."
Then there wouldn’t have been all this unnecessary trouble.
A gleam flashed in Zion Fitzwilliam’s eyes, and he said, "So next time, try to trust me."
Elara nodded and then asked with concern, "Tonight, by taking me out, will it affect you?"
Zion Fitzwilliam shook his head, his voice deep, "Don’t worry, the performance of a top seller won’t be easily affected."
Only then did Elara breathe a sigh of relief.
Although the Jacobs Family might not let things go, this was truly the best possible outcome now.
She was only wearing a man’s suit jacket, her fair skin exposed, and her straight, slender legs were enticing. Zion Fitzwilliam’s gaze moved away from her slender white neck as his Adam’s apple bobbed slightly, "You should change your clothes first."
Elara’s cheeks flushed, and she nodded, heading back to her room.
As soon as she changed her clothes, she received a call from Zara Dalton. Elara quickly picked up, hearing Zara’s anxious voice, "Elara, where are you? The Communication Device wasn’t responding, and you weren’t answering your phone. I took people in but couldn’t find you. Are you alright?"
Elara quickly replied, "I’m fine. Zion Fitzwilliam took me out. The Communication Device and my phone must have been blocked."
She didn’t dare mention what happened in the private room for fear Zara might act rashly out of anger.
Hearing this, Zara breathed a long sigh of relief before asking, "Did they bully you? What exactly did Rosalind Jacobs want from you?" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Elara gently said, "She just wanted to humiliate me. Luckily, Zion Fitzwilliam passed by and took me away, so it wasn’t anything serious."
Zara finally relaxed completely and joked, "A hero saving a damsel in distress, huh? This guy’s not bad."
Elara smiled, sincerely replying, "Yeah, he’s really quite good."
After a few more words, they hung up, and Elara, exhausted after the night’s ordeal, finally felt at ease and soon fell asleep.
She didn’t know that outside the Eye of Agelessness, after Zara hung up, her previously smiling face immediately turned grim. She looked at Esther Carter beside her, gritting her teeth, "Elara must have encountered something bad."
