Half an hour passed quickly, as it was lunchtime, the shop had quite a few customers.

Busy for several dozen minutes...

"Why hasn’t Faye come back yet?" Shannon glanced at the clock on the wall and asked, "It shouldn’t take so long to queue up."

Tanya glanced at the clock on the wall, "It’s been 40 minutes." Yet it takes less than five minutes to bike from here.

Just then, more customers came into the shop, and the two girls began making desserts, serving the guests.

Until another half hour passed.

Faye Turner still hadn’t returned with the roasted duck, Shannon and Tanya then started to realize something was off.

So they dialed her phone number, but it prompted that her phone was turned off.

Shannon felt a jolt of unease in her heart, "It’s off. Can you try again?" Sometimes it’s just bad signal.

Tanya was slightly stunned, quickly took out her phone to call Faye’s number—

"Sorry, the number you are calling is turned off." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

"Mine couldn’t get through either, her phone’s off," Tanya frowned, puzzled, "Why would it be off?"

The two girls’ eyes met, they were silent for a moment, already feeling something was very wrong, "Do you... do you quickly check the order, did she get the roasted duck?"

Only then did Shannon come to her senses, took another set of car keys and headed out the door, "I’ll go see her directly, you stay and look after the shop!"

Tanya stayed in the shop waiting, standing at the door looking out anxiously, and occasionally calling her phone.

But it remained turned off.

On her way to the roasted duck shop, Shannon couldn’t help but fret in her heart. She sensed something was off, it was impossible for Faye’s phone to be out of battery and shut down automatically.

Faye is a careful girl, and who would leave the house in the morning without a fully charged phone? Besides, she hadn’t been using her phone all morning, hadn’t depleted its battery, she was teaching them how to make desserts the whole time.

When Shannon sent the order to Faye, she even took out her phone to have a look.

By the time Shannon arrived at the roasted duck shop, she discovered the duck had already been picked up, the order had been verified, and the system showed that the verification time was two hours ago, indeed a girl had come to collect it.

But on the way over, she hadn’t seen any sign of Faye...
