Chapter 863: Chapter 863: The Miracle Doctor Appears

Jadepoint, The Xavier Family, a mansion from the Qing Dynasty, nestled amidst mountains and water, far from the city’s clamor, vast and imposing.

An elderly man with a head full of white hair, dressed simply yet appropriately, appeared at the entrance of the Xavier Family mansion with a small bamboo basket on his back.

In his plain attire, he resembled an ancient elder, with kind brows and sleeves in the breeze, this mansion felt familiar despite a long absence.

"Old Mr. Downey, please come in." Quickly, the butler welcomed him with exceptional respect, not daring to neglect in guiding the elder inside.

The two had met before, they chatted about recent events as they walked, just like friends.

Entering the mansion’s main gate, crossing the courtyard, and walking along the corridor, one could see the pavilions and towers rising like clouds, with rock gardens and bizarre stones scattered around.

The sound of flowing water, along with the chorus of insects and birds, echoed harmoniously, rising and falling, intoxicating the heart and mind.

Old Mr. Sean Downey, a legendary figure in traditional Chinese medicine, had traveled extensively for many years.

He had collected some precious herbs, ground them into powder, and packed them in the basket on his back.

"Hello Old Mr. Downey." Simon Xavier saw them from afar, hurriedly emerged from the hall, and shortly after, Mrs. Xavier also appeared.

"Hello Mr. Xavier." Old Mr. Downey’s silver hair was neatly arranged, despite the deep wrinkles on his face, he was in good spirits and had excellent vision.

"Please, come in, come in!"

Obviously, they knew each other, and their relationship should be quite good.

"It’s been... nearly ten years, hasn’t it?"

"Yes, yes, it has."

Yet, upon meeting, it was as if they’d just seen each other—such is the connection between people whose energies align.

They led Old Mr. Downey inside to rest for a moment, brewed tea for him, and exchanged kind inquiries.

Mrs. Xavier asked a nearby servant, "Is the guest room ready?"

"Yes, Madam, it is ready."

"Remember to turn on the silencer, Old Mr. Downey isn’t used to the sound of insects and birds here; he might not sleep well." Mrs. Xavier was very considerate.

"I turned it on," the servant replied with a smile, "rest assured, everything’s arranged perfectly."

Old Mr. Downey smiled kindly, seated on the sofa with a teacup in his hand, "No need to fuss too much, I’m fine, I’ve grown accustomed to the sounds of insects and birds over the years."

After drinking tea and chatting for a while, Simon Xavier and his wife led the elder to the backyard of the mansion.

They walked along a shaded path among flowers, gradually entering the depths of the trees, and after a short walk, the view broadened.

A small hill lay there quietly, with a tombstone densely inscribed with words, surrounded by a pool of water like a mirror, with exotic flowers blossoming around, a few brightly colored butterflies dancing amongst the flowers.

This is the grave of Old Mr. Xavier and his wife, buried together.

Old Mr. Downey was their schoolmate, always close, a dear friend; when the two fell ill and passed, he even prepared traditional medicine to alleviate their suffering.

Passing through on his travels, he came to chat with his old classmates, offering two cups of wine, the elder couldn’t help but lament, "Truly, time flies, and years slip away like a shuttle."

In such an atmosphere, Simon Xavier also began to miss his parents a bit.

The older one gets, the more one tends to recall past events, and the more one learns to cherish the present surroundings and people...

Desiring to keep Old Mr. Downey for a few nights to renew old times, today’s fishing servant fished longer specially.

Various rare river fish species were all used to prepare soup to host the elder, making five kinds of fish soup.

The elder drank heartily and praised, "When it comes to eating fish, it’s at your Xavier Family that they’re the most delicious, I’ve eaten river fish countless times in my life, but yours here, is the most authentic river fish!"

Indeed, from the river, without any captivity whatsoever.
