Chapter 840: Chapter 840: Steadfast Protection

But three hours ago, there was no trace of Chase Fletcher in the office, no one knew where he had gone.

"Ben, I’m getting ready to leave," Rachel Sherman said to Ben Fletcher as she tidied up her desk.

"Okay."

She grabbed her bag and walked out of the office, taking the elevator down. Rachel felt a strange, indescribable sense of oppression.

She had to admit, when it came to handling pressure, she wasn’t as good as Faye Turner.

As soon as the elevator doors opened, she stepped out, only to find Chase Fletcher waiting for her. He took her by the wrist and led her outside.

Rachel looked at him in shock, then matched his pace.

"Off work already?" he asked softly as they walked, his eyes full of affection. "I’m off work too."

With those words, he wrapped an arm around her shoulders and, in front of all the staff in the lobby, led her out through the glass doors.

He just wanted to prove with his actions that Rachel was the woman he loved deeply.

"Looks like President Fletcher is serious. Today’s video conference, his presence was unprecedented."

"I guess they’ve been together for a long time, we just didn’t know."

"They must have been together for a while. They’ve even registered their marriage. Not everyone can get married as fast as President Lancaster and Mrs. Lancaster, right?"

By evening.

The Fletcher Family had dinner prepared, a particularly lavish spread that included braised duck with jinzhen sauce, roasted shrimp with fortune sauce, beauty-nourishing fish maw soup, peppery beef tenderloin, and a few servings of French crème brûlée, Kylie Fletcher’s favorite.

Yes, the Eldest Miss Fletcher returned tonight.

She heard about Jasmine Quinn’s outrageous incident and couldn’t help but vent at the dinner table—

"That’s just terrifying! To harm herself like that? She could end up disfigured," Kylie Fletcher said, sipping her soup. "I always knew from the start she’d be difficult. No matter who my brother is with, they get targeted."

"The first time she came to our house, I could tell she liked my brother!" Kylie was furious and didn’t care about the setting.

Rachel Sherman held her chopsticks, her expression gentle, without joining the conversation.

Chase Fletcher’s face was somewhat heavy, not looking particularly happy.

Mr. Fletcher and Mrs. Fletcher quickly gave their daughter a look. Kylie inadvertently glanced up, realized something, and, after glancing at her brother and sister-in-law, stopped talking.

But her sudden change in topic left an awkward silence.

She quickly smiled and said, "Today’s Buddha Jumps Over the Wall is so authentic! I haven’t had it in such a long time. All I’ve been eating on set are boxed meals, and I’ve been craving it!"

"If you like it, have more," Rachel Sherman said with a smile. "Have you lost weight recently?"

"Everyone says so, but actually no. It’s just that my face isn’t as full as before," Kylie Fletcher said, quite pleased with her appearance. "Playing the female lead feels great, the director said I have classic bone structure beauty."

"You look beautiful no matter what," Chase Fletcher chimed in, praising, "With the genes in our family, after all!"

"Yes, yes, just like Mom!" Kylie beamed like a happy little princess.

Laughter and chatter filled the Fletcher Family dining room...

After dinner, Faye Turner arranged to meet Rachel Sherman, and they met at a seaside café.

Under a pink sun umbrella, the two sat across from each other. Not far away was a parked Lamborghini, surrounded by several burly bodyguards in suits and sunglasses.

They stood seven or eight meters away from Faye, ensuring her safety.

A waiter brought two glasses of low-alcohol fruit wine, uniquely shaped and very attractive, with the gradient color of the wine and a slice of lemon on the rim.

Faye Turner lifted her glass and gently clinked it with Rachel’s, "It’s been so long since we’ve enjoyed a night like this."

The sea breeze blew softly, even the wind was sweet, so pleasant.
