When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 805: A Beautiful Morning
He couldn’t quite remember what happened afterward.
As he walked out of the bedroom and into the living room, he heard noises from the kitchen before he even had a chance to head that way.
Rachel Sherman, wearing an apron, came out holding a bowl of porridge, just as he caught sight of her.
Seeing him awake, Rachel’s lips curved up, her tone light and cheerful, "Good morning."
"Good morning," Chase quickly replied, feeling a bit embarrassed. He rubbed his nose, realizing he hadn’t even showered last night before getting into her bed. He wasn’t sure if he’d embarrassed himself while drunk.
Rachel, holding the porridge, walked towards the dining table and said to him—
"I prepared a new toothbrush and a cup for you. Go freshen up, breakfast will be ready soon."
It was clear that she welcomed his presence and was willing to take care of him.
Chase watched her busy figure with a sense of gratitude, feeling warm inside.
"Alright." He turned and went into the bathroom.
Looking at her face towel, her pink toothbrush, he could even imagine the days living with her after marriage.
After washing up, Rachel had already set the prepared breakfast on the table, with warm millet porridge, some soft pastries, eggs, and milk.
While removing her apron, she introduced the breakfast to him, "Here’s what I prepared. Help yourself to whatever you like; it’s all good for the stomach. Even if you don’t have much appetite, you should eat a little."
Chase stood not far away, just watching her, not stepping forward.
Rachel noticed his stillness and was slightly startled, then smiled and walked towards him.
Taking his hand, she gently asked, "What’s wrong?" then glanced down at the hand she had personally wrapped in bandages, pursing her lips. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
When she looked up at him again, her eyes, still smiling, now also showed a hint of distress, "How are you? Does it still hurt?"
Blinking her bright eyes at him, "After breakfast, I’ll help you change the dressing."
Chase gently pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly, slightly bending down to rest his chin gently on her shoulder.
He needed her like a child would.
Rachel’s chest tightened slightly, followed by a warmth that flowed through her entire body...
She was very happy; such closeness always thrilled her and made her cheeks flush, her heart race—a natural, uncontrollable reaction.
It was her body’s desire and affection for him.
Rachel wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him gently, "Chase, no matter what happens, I will always stand by your side, unless you don’t want me."
While making breakfast, Rachel recalled what Faye Turner said to her by the river, that as long as his love was firm, it would be her greatest confidence.
She would also learn from Faye and live her life well.
Chase was moved; he had never before felt this way towards a woman. Sometimes what the heart chooses is beyond words.
Why was it Rachel?
He didn’t know, but he just liked her.
"Rachel." Chase released her, held her shoulders, and looked at her warmly, "Did you get up very early today?"
"Not that early." She glanced at the dining table and then tugged him over, "Come have breakfast, June will be waking up soon."
Leading him to a dining chair and letting him sit down, Rachel said to him, "I’ve had enough sleep anyway. How about you? Did you sleep well last night? Are you alright with the bed?"
He half-joked, "Thanks to Reporter Sherman for taking me in."
