When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 758: This Is a Bit Ridiculous
Rachel Sherman had her hair tied up in a neat bun, with two strands hanging down her face that fluttered in the breeze. She wore a very nice outfit today, a light blue skirt suit that quite complemented her complexion.
Seeing the boy extend his hand, Rachel’s lips curved into a smile as she shook hands with him gracefully, "Hello, my name is Rachel Sherman."
"Granny mentioned you." Ben Fletcher’s eyes were full of gentle laughter, his teeth particularly striking, especially when he smiled. Somehow, he gave Rachel a few extra glances.
"Rachel, are you here?!" Just then, a joyful and kind voice came from Granny Hughes inside the main hall.
"Here, here!" Ben turned back and answered loudly, then looked at Rachel again and said enthusiastically, "Granny made you some pastries, come quickly and eat while they’re hot, and we’ll do the interview afterward."
So he’s Granny Hughes’ grandson?
"Okay." Rachel nodded with a smile.
A bit embarrassed, she followed him toward the main hall, her mind full of the thought to complete her task sooner, so she could have dinner with Chase back at The Fletcher Family later in the afternoon.
She had little impression of wealthy families, her closest interaction being with The Lancaster Family, but each family’s situation is different.
To say she wasn’t nervous would be a lie, but this nervousness couldn’t be overcome; she had to face it head-on.
Just as she entered the door, Rachel greeted Granny Hughes, her voice sweet, "Good morning, Granny."
"Well, well, well." Granny Hughes quickly put down her watering can, personally handed her the pastries, "Come, come, today’s red bean cake paired with mung bean soup, it’s certainly going to be delicious, try it."
"Wow, Granny even made mung bean soup early in the morning?" Rachel took it happily, "Thank you, Granny." She’s loved mung bean soup since she was a child, never getting tired of it.
"Granny, I want some too!" Ben, likely a chatterbox, with a bright personality all over his face, moved childishly closer.
"Yes, yes, of course I’ve prepared for you too!"
Rachel heard these words and suddenly felt a touch of sensitivity and suspicion, specifically having him come??
Recalling what Granny Hughes said yesterday... she couldn’t help but look at Ben Fletcher.
At this moment, Ben happened to look at her too, with a gaze full of indescribable meaning.
"Rachel, what do you think of my grandson?"
Granny Hughes was very pleased with her, looking at her with a smile, seriously asking, "Would you consider it? He has a good personality, loves children the most, and would treat your children as his own."
Rachel almost dropped her jaw in shock!
"..." With a mouthful of red bean cake, she was momentarily at a loss for words, "No, Granny..." She quickly swallowed the cake in her mouth, "Didn’t I tell you? I have a boyfriend!"
"Your boyfriend is probably unreliable!" Granny Hughes said straightforwardly, "For another man to treat your children as his own is practically impossible! But I know my grandson, I raised him myself, he’s exceptionally kind-hearted!"
Just then, as Granny Hughes spoke, Chase Fletcher appeared at the doorway, clearly hearing the conversation inside, feeling both anxious and angry!
A shadow cast over, causing everyone in the room to turn their gaze, eyes landing on Chase Fletcher.
"Chase, why are you here?" Rachel was the first to speak, a mix of surprise and delight, like someone had come to her rescue.
The words Granny Hughes and Ben Fletcher were about to speak got stuck in their throats, just watching Rachel walk toward Chase Fletcher, not knowing what she said to him, her voice was quiet.
Rachel whispered, "Why did you come? I’m working, have you had breakfast? Would you like to try this?" She said, offering him the red bean cake in her hand.
Chase withdrew his slightly cold and distant gaze, and when his eyes fell on her face, they became extremely gentle.
One hand took it, while the other combed the hair on her face, "What were they trying to do just now? Introducing you to a boyfriend? This boy?"
Chase looked at Ben Fletcher and couldn’t help but laugh, frowning and asking Rachel, "Do you think he’s suitable for you? Just a kid who hasn’t grown up!"
