When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 687: Daughter Devotee
Upstairs, in a certain VIP hospital room.
"Mom, you should head back too." Faye Turner lay on the hospital bed and said to Chloe Gable, "It’s Friday today, Milo will be coming home this afternoon. You should go make him something to eat; his high school exams are approaching."
"Faye, I’m worried about Milo, but I’m also worried about you. You’ve just had a baby, it’s inconvenient even for you to go to the bathroom. I want to stay and keep you company, lend a hand if needed."
"I have a maternity nurse here, don’t I? Besides, Adrian is also here, so you really don’t need to worry about me." Faye was very strong, her face filled with smiles, she felt no pain at all—only happiness.
She was never lacking in love, so she didn’t feel dependent.
"Mom, please tell Milo about Joy’s birth. He’ll definitely be thrilled to hear he’s become an uncle."
Then Adrian Lancaster also chimed in, "Mom, I’m here with her. Please go back, there’s no need to worry. You can always come visit her in the hospital tomorrow when you’re free."
Chloe Gable looked at her daughter and then at her son-in-law before finally leaving, feeling reassured.
In the hospital room, only two professional maternity nurses, Adrian Lancaster, Faye Turner, and the newborn baby remained.
He held the baby in his arms, sitting by the bed, "Faye, look at our daughter, isn’t her nose particularly beautiful?"
Faye didn’t look at the baby; instead, her gaze landed on the handsome face of the man, unable to tear her eyes away.
Immersed in an extreme sense of happiness, the once cool and thin corners of her lips now lifted in a gentle and beautiful smile.
"Look at Joy, not me." Adrian drew the baby a little closer, "She’s so cute, so tiny and adorable."
He held the baby cautiously, not daring to apply any pressure, as if he feared she might melt away even if he held her in his mouth.
Faye turned her happy gaze towards the little baby in his arms—a round little head, so fragile-looking, lying in her father’s embrace, sleeping sweetly and soundly, her little face fair and not at all ugly.
Her two small eyes squinted tightly, like two fine lines.
"Faye, when do you think... Joy will open her eyes to see the world? To look at her daddy and mommy?" Adrian, as a new father, was filled with anticipation.
Faye thought he too was like a child. As she looked into his eyes, she couldn’t help but feel a soft tenderness. She guessed he would definitely become a doting father in the future, able to connect with his daughter completely.
Chloe Gable had just returned home when she met Milo Turner at the elevator.
"Mom, what’s got you so happy? You’ve been smiling the whole way." Her son, utterly puzzled, had been following her closely and couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity.
The middle-aged woman halted her steps, turning to look at her son, "Milo, are you back from school?"
"Yes, we didn’t have PE today, so we finished early."
"I’ve got good news for you—your sister had a lovely baby girl. Congratulations on becoming an uncle!"
"Really?!!" Milo Turner was beyond excited. He entered the elevator with his mother. "Is she home or still in the hospital? I want to see her!"
"She’s in the hospital."
"Alright, I’ll go grab my New Year’s money and give my niece a big red envelope!"
"A big red envelope? How much money do you have?" Chloe Gable was unaware of his financial situation, as she rarely asked about it.
"Not much, not much, around three to four thousand. Over the past year, my sister has given me quite a bit of money, which I’ve saved without spending recklessly."
After exiting the elevator, the mother and son returned home.
Milo Turner had truly matured—he not only grew taller but also became more mature-minded, and his academic performance improved day by day.
He saw his brother-in-law, Adrian Lancaster, as a role model in his studies.
