Chapter 539: Chapter 539: The First Snow of Winter

Faye Turner’s mind wandered to those days when she had just taken him away from Eliza Hayes, treating him like a biological father, walking and talking with him.

She found it ironic, and her heart was therefore filled with mixed emotions.

Victor Peterson walked towards her step by step... It was his first time standing and walking, despite being escorted.

As he passed by Faye, Victor sensed the complexity in her eyes, her disappointment, her anger.

He slowly averted his gaze, somehow feeling a twinge of guilt towards her.

The police led him past her.

There was no communication between them... But something in their minds had shifted.

As the police car pulled away, Faye Turner slowly gathered her thoughts and took a couple of steps towards the living room, only to see Adrian Lancaster appear at the door.

Faye stopped in her tracks once more, just staring at him.

Seeing her in the yard, Adrian Lancaster tried desperately to suppress his inner anger, yet his face remained somewhat cold.

The couple locked eyes.

She had heard from Dustin Shepherd that he had canceled an important meeting and came here alone, and Faye was worried something might happen, so she had followed.

A gentle breeze blew over, and she collected her thoughts, starting to walk towards him.

Gradually quickening her pace, she finally broke into a run, leaping into Adrian Lancaster’s arms, wrapping her arms around his waist.

Silently, she hugged him, her cheek gently pressed against his chest.

Adrian Lancaster felt the warmth from her and gently held her shoulders, "Why are you here?"

She looked up from his embrace, Adrian trying hard to suppress the sadness in his heart, only because he didn’t want her to worry.

His expression softened, "..." looking at her with deep affection.

Victor Peterson had been taken away... It was the fate he deserved, with the law awaiting to deliver its harsh punishment, Adrian Lancaster consoled himself, not to be angry.

"I was worried about you..." Faye met his gaze, her nose tingling with emotion.

Adrian Lancaster’s lips curved into a pleasant arc, affectionately ruffling her hair, then putting his arm around her shoulder, leading her away.

When Argent welcomed its first snow of winter, it was as if the whole world had fallen silent, the scene of the snow gently drifting down, breathtakingly beautiful.

Some anticipated it, some were thrilled, others took photos of the snow... There’s always someone who loves winter the most.

Regarding the whereabouts of his father, Caleb Lancaster, Adrian was still having people investigate, with no progress so far.

Saturday.

He was in the villa’s study, dressed in casual homewear, sitting at the desk and taking a phone call.

His voice was low, magnetic, and gentle, "Yes, find the addresses of everyone in the photos, and their roles at Prestige Group back then. As for their personalities, if you can analyze that, even better."

After a while, he added, "Mm, report to me if there’s any news."

"Oh, and regarding Dr. Wyatt Lane’s whereabouts, please follow up, whether he’s alive or dead, I need an accurate answer."

Downstairs, Faye Turner, dressed in a white turtleneck sweater and a light pink down jacket, was carrying a bowl of snow fungus lotus seed soup upstairs.

She also loved winter very much, loving that snowy scene, like a fairy tale world, particularly pure.

So, her mood today, because of the snow, was especially good.

When she reached the study door, Adrian Lancaster’s call had just ended.

She knocked gently, very politely, giving him enough space.

"Come in."

Adrian Lancaster put down the phone and looked up towards the door.

As the door opened, he saw his beautiful wife holding a bowl, and immediately stood up to take it from her.

"Drink it while it’s hot, it’s your favorite sweetness level." Faye looked up at him, her face adorned with a happy smile, handing him the bowl.

"Thank you."

Adrian Lancaster took the bowl, turned and placed it on the desk, then took her hand. As he sat back in the chair, she came in, and he gently pulled her onto his lap.

Then he wrapped his arms around her waist, looking up at her with deep affection, his expression soft, tucking her long hair behind her ear.

The child in her belly was starting to show.

Outside the window, snowflakes danced, the world was wrapped in silver, beautiful and romantic.

A car drove into the yard, and a man in a suit got out, walking to the villa entrance.

He said something to the butler and handed over an envelope.

The butler nodded, "Okay, I’ll make sure it gets delivered."

Then he watched the man get into the car, and after it drove away, the butler turned and headed upstairs with the letter.
