Chapter 456: Chapter 456: Stopped

That night, Eliza Hayes couldn’t sleep at all; she regretted her actions deeply.

Finally, dawn arrived the next day, and Eliza Hayes composed herself, ready to head out.

"Where are you going?" A cold voice from the old man came from behind her.

The woman at the entrance of the living room jumped slightly in shock and stopped to turn around.

She saw her grandfather leaning on a cane, appearing at the corner of the stairs, looking at her solemnly, accompanied by a maid.

"Dad," Eliza Hayes called softly.

Grandfather carried a heavy heart as he descended the stairs, step by step, "Who are you going to see? What are you going to do?"

This tone was full of distrust and blame towards her.

It left Eliza Hayes unsure of how to respond, fearing she might be grounded if she said she was going to see Faye Turner.

But after some contemplation, she decided to be honest, "I want to go to Adrian’s company."

"There’s no need," the old man directly refused, not even asking what she planned to do.

He stopped her in her tracks, "You never managed the company’s affairs, so don’t interfere in the couple’s matters either."

Grandfather’s words carried a heavy dissatisfaction and warning.

Eliza Hayes could understand, given all the recent events where she had always played the villain.

"Dad, I understand your point," she forced herself to suppress her sorrow, "But he’s my son, after all. Are we really going to remain strangers?"

"Did the kids call you mom when they came back yesterday? Did they greet you?" The elderly man pinpointed the issue, staring at her directly, still, it wasn’t his doing!

Watching the expression on the woman’s face change from awkwardness to dismay.

"Eliza, why are the kids treating you like strangers? What was the reason?" The old man reminded her to reflect, taking a deep breath and saying with some pain, "The thing we fear most is not examining ourselves daily; this is wisdom passed down from our ancestors!"

Eliza Hayes had not slept the whole night and didn’t know how many times she had already reflected; Adrian is Caleb’s child... she was so anxious.

Standing there at the living room entrance, her thoughts drifted away.

The old man gave her a deep look and started walking towards the dining room.

Eliza Hayes did not insist on going out, knowing that since grandfather was waiting for her early, he must have also informed the driver and gatekeeper.

She cared about the old man, so she couldn’t go against him, couldn’t defy his wishes.

But yet she particularly hoped to see Faye Turner alone.

Some matters, she must ask clearly!!

Ten minutes later, in the back yard’s small building.

"Nanny Warren, say something! What should I do now?" Eliza Hayes was very anxious, grabbing Nanny Warren’s shoulders and shaking her.

Nanny Warren flung her hand away—

"Seeing Miss Turner isn’t important; what’s crucial is if what she says is true, that the man in the wheelchair isn’t Adrian’s father, should you be happy, or should you... regret?" Long warned not to be so absolute, but you wouldn’t listen!

Boom—!

The woman suddenly felt struck by thunder! 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

This question flashed through her mind last night, but she dared not think further! She chose to avoid it.

"I want to see her, think of a way for me!" Eliza Hayes snatched back her thoughts, her anxious tone still unable to hide the panic within her heart.

"You clearly know what she says is true, so what’s the point of seeing her?!"

Nanny Warren intensified her tone, awakened Eliza from her delusion!

Eliza Hayes collapsed onto the sofa, tears streaming out.

She didn’t know what she had done all these years... Thinking about her actions towards Adrian, she was terribly afraid, unable to forgive herself.
